God & The Post Office

This was sent to my
by my sister-in-law, Ellie..
Kind of sister-in-law..
used to be sister in law..
Just a "sister" now...
Anyway, she is an animal lover
and sent this to me..
I am forwarding it to you.
This is not her child but
someone sent this to her.
I have always believed that
Postal workers don't
get nearly as much credit
as they deserve...
this will warm your heart..
This is one of the kindest things you may ever see.
It is not known who replied,
but there is a beautiful soul
working in the dead letter office of
The US postal service.
Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month.
The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith
was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.
She asked if we could write a letter to God
so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her.
I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:
"Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. Love, Meredith"
We put the letter in an envelope
with a picture of Abbey and Meredith
and addressed it to God/Heaven..
We put our return address on it.
Then Meredith pasted several stamps
on the front of the envelope
because she said it would take lots of stamps
to get the letter all the way to heaven.
That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office.
A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet.
I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package
wrapped in gold paper
on our front porch addressed,
'To Meredith'
Meredith opened it & inside was a book by
Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies..'
Taped to the inside front cover
was the letter we had written to God
in its opened envelope.
On the opposite page was the picture
of Abbey & Meredith and this note:
"Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog.. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by... Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.
Love, God"
I thought of my friend, Tete, as I was posting this because
her "baby" just went to KittyKat Heaven
and so...
now she knows!
And all God's children said

I have gotten this in emails many times the last few years and it never gets old. I love the idea of someone being a secret friend to help someone else, especially a child, along the way.
Bless your heart for this post and remembering me and Georgie. You're the bestest kind of friend.
Hugs- Tete

Aw the pure unconditional love of a child and an animal.. one of the sweetest things~~

I've been using the Bare Esentuals BM's for a few years now.. ever sinced I started to feel that buffing on foundation gently with a brush is much better for your skin than pulling a tugging liquid makeup on with a makeup sponge. To tell a truth, the bismuth oxide (sp?) chemical in the bare minerals has always irritated my skin a bit as well as the slight frangrance of their mineral makeup. I now prefer Everyday Minerals because it's natural, doesn't irritate my skin, no animal testing and affordability. For $5 you can order a selection of "try me" bases to find your matching shade. I am finding I match best with the fairly light in the original glow formula. Of course, that was the same shade name I used in BM's, so it was easy. One thing though, EM's is a little lighter than BM's -- feels lighter on the skin, more natural.. but for me - I like that. I still use my BM's brushes with the everyday minerals though. ;)

Ok, I'm in tears now, that such a sweet little letter, and the postal worker is definitely an angel. Our sweet little kitty passed a few days ago. She would have turned 14 in December.

Thanks for sharing that sweet letter!

Have a lovely weekend!

Well heck, now "she" is crying. And my fur is getting wet. Doesn't "she" understand that all this crying is setting off my allergies and my eyes are watering?!? Just allergies though I'm sure. I am ferocious (just in case you momentarily) forgot. Could you pass the kleenex please? This renews my hope for humanity.

Thank God for the angel in the post office !
What a tender story, so heart warming but oh, so sad at the same time. But since it gives Meredith peace of mine, its worth reading and gives me comfort. More Kleenex - I've used up what I had in my desk drawer.........
