A TRIBUTE TO ALL OF OUR SERVICE PEOPLE

I wrote this for Memorial Day

a few years ago but I think it is

relevant every day.

This means even more to me now that I am

volunteering at the VA Center here.

Memorial Day is here once more,

We fly the flags above our door,

We plant our flowers that mark the grave,

Of every soldier that was so brave,

They fought for freedom for everyone,

Many lives snuffed out by a sniper's gun.

We proudly march in our little bands,

As daybreak filters across our lands,

But I wonder if we can truly see,

What cost it was to make us free.

Confederate soldiers fought the Yanks,

Some brothers fought brothers in those ranks,

To free the downtrodden that were lost,

To free all men at any cost.

My father was a medic in World War One,

A war not talked about by anyone,

Some men lost limbs and some were gassed,

Some were picked up by comrades, others

bypassed.

World War II! How tragic indeed,

People standing by watching others bleed.

Souls thrown to the winds with no remorse,

Foreign government standing on their own

course.

Vietnam was not a war they said,

Then how come so many soldiers ended up

dead?

No heroes welcome for them in sight,

They slunk home in the dead of night.

Should I go on-with Korea & Desert Storm?

Iran? Afghanistan? Are you getting warm?

Do you feel the pain you see in their face?

Does it make you squirm in your warm, safe

place?

I've just one more thing I'd like to say,

It's about celebrating Memorial Day,

Look around and everything you see,

Was paid out in blood so that we are free.

Put your hand on your heart,

For the blue, white and red,

Raise your eyes to the flag,

Say a prayer for the dead.

Because of a soldier I can have my say,

So ~God Bless you this Memorial Day~

BRING HIM HOME-A Memorial Day Tribute -

This is one of the most beautiful tributes
I have ever heard
for our servicemen/women
that so valiantly guard our safety.

~A parent's prayer for a son

If you have a moment to listen to this
you will not be disappointed.

THE TIP -AdNonsense/Funny On Friday

Another one of my
'weird takes'
on a perfectly normal ad-

I dunno, Elizabeth,
I was just reaching for the
rest of my change
and BANG!
That gal put that cleaver down
so fast I was lucky not
to lose my whole hand!
Well, at least it seems to
have quit bleeding now~

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY (For Most)

I wrote this a few years ago
and after I published it,
 I got several emails
from women that
find some sadness in
Mother's Day.

We must remember that not everyone
had a wonderful mother and that
there are those of us that desperately
wanted a child and that has not happened-
and there are those that have lost
children to Heaven--
a loss beyond understanding......

Please think kindly about others that
do not find much happiness in this day.

Mother's Day
(written as if our mother is still with us)

Some of us have been blessed
with wonderful Mothers.
Some of us have Mothers
that are not quite so admirable.

Some of us have Mothers
that praise us and adore us,
Some of us have Mothers
that never say a kind word.

Some of us have Mothers
 that love us unconditionally.
Some of us have Mothers
 that love us only
if we meet all her expectations.

Some of us have Mothers
 that smile readily.
Some of us have Mothers
that never find much to smile about.

Some of us have Mothers that~
whatever we do~
it is more than they hoped for.
Some of us have Mothers
that
no matter WHAT we do-
it is never enough.

Some of us have Mothers
that had a charmed childhood.
Some of us have Mothers
that were raised in pain & shame.

Some of us have Mothers
that need us &
want us in their lives.
Some of us have Mothers
that are needy
 and we seldom see them.

Some of us have Mothers
that complete our lives.
Some of us have Mothers that
leave us aching, wanting and empty.

Some of us have Mothers
that stand
on this side of the Great Beyond.
Some of us have Mothers
that have passed
 over this earthly barrier.

Some of us will emulate our Mother.
Some of us will vow to never be
anything like our Mother.

Some of us are happy and fulfilled,
no matter what kind of Mother we had.
Some of us will never be happy
even if we were nurtured
by an amazing Mother.

Today I am blessed to be a Mother.
My daughters are blessed
to be Mothers, too.
Today I vow that I will be
the best mother (and grandmother)
I can be.

Today I vow that I will love
as deeply as I can
those that share my life.

Today I know that I am blessed indeed~
Today I hope that you find blessings
in your own life-
and love your Mother-
even if it is just because she gave you life.

~Happy Mother's Day from Me to You~

I just spent the weekend with my sweet
Mindy and her family and will be driving
home today.
I will catch up with all of you tonight.

PICK YOUR FAVORITE BRIDAL TABLE-WHO WILL YOU BE SITTING NEXT TO?

First of all,
thank you all so much for
humoring me and playing along
with this little
PICK YOUR FAVORITE GAME!
So--
The results are in and tallied.
I will show each table and list the people
below that chose that table.
I was asked to remove
one of the tables
(weirdly enough-even though it was sourced out)

I moved anyone that had picked that
table to another table...
LOL- sorry 'bout that -
hope you like your tablemates!

Here we go:
Table #1
Flower Boxes On A Plank Table

This turned out to be a large wedding:
Here are the guests:
Tina, Cheryl, Cindy, Patty, Nancy, Kim,
LV, Patti, Ellen, Lisa, Connie, Fran, Julie,
Richella, Amy, Sugar, Nonnie, Cecilia,
Bonnie, Ellen, Mary, Debbie Ray, Billie Jo,
Lorrie, Kris, Karen, Katie M,
 ADAM (yeah- a guy),
and two surprise guests with the same name-
Anonymous & Anonymous
and LIZ-(I forgot to add her name--duh)!

Table#2
SUNSHINE & SQUARES

This was a smaller, more intimate wedding.
Your table mates are:
Jettie, Karen, Sandy, Patty, Diane,

Table #3

This was also a small, intimate wedding
and attending are:
Linda, Denise, Ann,Renee & Donna W.

Table #4

image
This is a table of sweet ladies I know and love:
Neadeen, Marydon, Rose, Nancy & Cathy
and KAY G (some idiot I forgot her)

Next up:#5
Hydrangea-A Wedding At Home
You will be seated with one of the only other men
that played along:
imageRon Carrier is sitting with Jenn, Susie, Arlene, Karen, Celeste, Beemie, & Krishna
Poor Ron!  I know a couple of those gals
and I KNOW that at least one of them
Susie will act up.
Ron won't mind because he loves
A GOOD COCKTAIL
and after a few drinks he will put
spike someone's Susie's ginger ale.

Oh! The ROSE LANTERNS
caused a big stir!
Y'all love those lanterns and a lot of
you crashed this wedding whether you were
invited or not.
#6
Rose Lanterns
Well, shove over and make room for:
Debbie H, Donna, Sheri, Vee,
Mildred, Sandie, Linda,
Nancy, Judy,  Kathy, Katie,
Robbin, Louise, Josephine,
Martha Ellen, Karen Ann,
Debra, Debbie, Sissie & AnnMarie.

And last, but not least-
White On White Intent
I will say this is the one that was the
MOST SURPRISING TO ME!
With all the interest in
White and Cream
I thought this grand reception would be
flooded with guests.
I guess I was wrong--
but a few of you
picked this very beautiful venue:
Kathy S, Diane & Susan
You all can have two entrees!!!

Thanks again for playing along-
It is so much fun to see
who thinks along the same lines
and loves the same things.

I love, too, that there are a couple of guys
that weigh in-
that adds to the fun.

IF I missed anyone's name that voted
for a table please forgive me and
you can leave me a nasty note
in the comments.

I will be driving to my daughter's house
to stay for a few days---and---
I will try to check in from there.
If I don't get a chance to do that,
 I will be home
late Sunday/Mother's Day.

Have a wonderful rest of the week.

TICK TOCK-WATCH THE CLOCK! Funny on Friday- AdNonsense

(My own take on old ads)

Marsha Muscella
was
SO MAD
at
Clark Clockson.

They had been together
for almost 2 years
and he still found
it important
to spend Friday
nights downtown
with his
"friends"
sipping
Pink Squirrels
at
Bubba Dollar's Bar & Grille.

Marsha had warned him
that the next time
he stayed out past
midnight she was
going to clean
his clock for him.

Finally, somewhere
just before 4AM,
she heard his key in
the lock..and heard
him shssshing and
giggling with whomever
he had brought home

She thought it fitting
to greet him at the door
with a sweet
little game of
Tick-Tock!
WATCH OUT, CLARK!!

You are going to have
a face that would
stop a clock when
Marsha is through
with you.

Thanks to all of you

THE ETSY SHOP THAT NEVER WAS-ANNA IRELAND BOUTIQUE

First of all,
I want to thank ALL of you
that left me comments and opinions
on opening my
Etsy Shop.

I had it all planned out-
header made, items listed, etc.
Isn't this a cute banner?
I have had it on hold for over a year
as MyHero's health wavered.
Every time I would get ready to
OPEN SHOP
something would happen;
there would be a setback.

So, I thought that might be God's way
of saying,
"Don't do it!"
However, being the stubborn person
I am-and the eternal optimist-
I thought maybe I
MISREAD the MESSAGE!

So, I turned to my good friends,
and blogging buddies, to get
YOUR FEEDBACK (here)

Many of you left comments on my blog
and I so appreciate that you did that.
Several of you emailed me directly
to tell me your stories and experiences.
After reading all the comments,
and taking everything to heart,
I came to the decision that this is
NOT THE RIGHT TIME
for me.

I had over 100 listings and have been
paying the fees for over a year,
but yesterday,
I pulled the plug and closed the shop
before it ever opened.

I have decided to donate all the
'household goods'
to a charitable organization here
that does not sell anything.
They use it to help young and/or single mothers
get on their feet and
furnish an apartment to help them
 succeed in life.

Some things I will take to an antique dealer
and some of the things--
that don't fall into either category above--
maybe-just maybe-
I will offer on my blog

So- there you have it-
Thank you all for your opinions and input.

Thanks especially to
and to my friend, Donna, that no longer blogs.
They were both so helpful in the past
as I was struggling with setup and help with
learning the Etsy ropes.
I really appreciate the help they gave me.

Good luck to all of you that have
Etsy shops.
Maybe this will help someone else
make the decision
that Etsy isn't for them after they read
all the comments I got on my blog (here)
or give them the courage to close a
shop that is causing them stress.
On the other hand,
it may encourage someone to move forward
and open a shop of their own.

At least now I can start packing things up
knowing I don't have to
MAIL THINGS OUT.
I can clean out the bins and boxes of STUFF
and maybe I will find some
FREEDOM in LETTING GO
of the things I do not need.

Maybe I will get my butt out in the
YARD and do a little SPRUCE UP.
Or maybe I can encourage
MyHero to get off his butt
and do a little clean up.
Remember this?
Yeah--he's skinnier now so it
should be even easier for him...
Right?  Right!

Heck, I might even deep clean the house...
or...
maybe not........
