Thank Our Everyday Heroes

Good Morning!

I am volunteering at the VA
this morning.

There are some very dear soldiers
that come through those doors.
Some make me smile,
some make me laugh,
some make me want to cry.

I have had 2 marriage proposals-
and one proposition....lol....
in the short time I have been there.
Should I mention that all three
were visually impaired?

I'm not sure if you've seen this
TATTOO
that is posted below
It is floating around the internet .
It touched me.
It touches me more now that I see
VETERANS
every week.

Take a moment today
and, if you see a veteran
when you are out and about,
step up them, shake their hand,
and tell them
THANK YOU!
You'll be glad you did.

And here you thought I was
always funny!

Tomorrow I WILL be funny-

FINISH IT UP FRIDAY-Five For Fun

I may get my picture files all cleaned up yet
by doing these
Finish It Up Friday posts.

What do you get when you
put a bit of polish to tarnished silver?
It sure is pretty here, huh?!
Ummm...here's the before.
Yes- it is tarnished.  DON'T judge!
I've been sick, remember?
I may use that as an excuse the rest of my life...
The grammas would be rolling
in their respective graves seeing this~
Next up-Someone sent me this and said
 it reminded them of
Baby Bright Eyes.
I can't find a source-
if you know it I will gladly give credit for it.
So sweet-I think that is the connection-
They are both just SWEET!
Let's see-
What else?
Why is CJK so happy?
Cuz he knows Nana does not care
HOW BIG OF A MESS
he makes with a sticky sucker on the tile tray,
~ dominos and  other boy "stuff"~
SweetCheeks asked Papa to be her
SPECIAL PERSON
at school.
He brought her flowers and she was thrilled.
Doncha love those dimples and NEW teeth?
Papa was so thrilled that he was her special person!
The next day he
offered to take SweetCheeks to see
CINDERELLA!
Here they are -ready to go~
I told her if she wanted to have a
CINDERELLA THEMED PARTY
I would be glad to host one!
I will invite them all over and they can
CLEAN MY HOUSE!
 Yes. I. Am. Wicked!

Have a
WICKEDLY WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

MORE OF MY DINING ROOM AND GLITTER GALORE

Sometimes when we have things

for a while,

 we look at them

but don't really see them anymore.

This PICTURE

is on the mantle of the fireplace

in the dining room.

Sometimes I forget how pretty it is.
MyHero bought this oil painting for me in 2000

for our 25th Anniversary.

Back then we lived in the

European Colonial Revival

in the hysterical historical district.

She is an old beauty.
It hung over the fireplace in our living room there.

This dining room is such a hard room

to get good pictures in.

It is flooded with light from morning til night

(little rhyme-every time)
You can see more of the dining room here
Soon we will be able to eat out on the

porch off the dining room if we want to....

Now-lest you think I am

Oh-So-Perfect...

See the china hutches built in on either side
of the fireplace?
Come in for a little closer look....

Do you see it?

There on the 2nd shelf...on the left....
Just so you know-

I am going to remove this today.

Cuz  I don't want you making fun of me for having

CHRISTMAS FOR EASTER...
This was a sweet gift from

THE GLITTER QUEEN...

She REALLY HAS to change her name.

Seriously!

I bet even her sweet pup has glitter on it!

Look for yourself!!!!

I'm RIGHT!!!!
See what I mean?

Hope you all have a Sparkly Day

and appreciate the beauty around you!

THREE INGREDIENT CRUSTLESS KEY LIME "PIE"-OR LEMON PIE

Ladies & Gentlemen~
You are going to bow down and kiss my
pedicured unpedicured feet after you try this!
Seriously!

I was craving
KEY LIME PIE.
Being completely honest here-
I did NOT have Key Limes nor did I have
Key Lime juice.
So---I made this with one of those
funny little squirt cans of
LIME JUICE.
So- I am calling this
SPRING LIME PIE

So-ALL you need for this pie?
Egg yolks, Lime Juice &
SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK
Heavily butter your pie dish
because there is NO crust.
Whisk all ingredients together and
pour into pie pan.
Bake, Eat, Enjoy!
That's it!  That's all she wrote, folks.
Above is the
PRETTY VERSION.
However, when it is served here it looks more like this!
We like a
LITTLE PIE with our WHIPPED CREAM.

Here's the recipe:

3 INGREDIENT CRUSTLESS KEY LIME PIE

Preheat oven to 350.
Heavily BUTTER a glass pie dish.

3 egg yolks (or 3 eggs*)
1 can SWEETENED condensed milk
1/2 cup LIME juice.

Beat eggs yolks slightly (*If you use whole eggs you will get more of  a cheesecake consistency-which is also good)
Add sweetened condensed milk and lime juice.
Whisk or stir until well blended.
Do NOT beat mixture.

Bake in preheated oven for about 30 minutes...then keep checking every 5 minutes until it is completely set and a knife inserted in center comes out clean.  The very outer top ridge will be just slightly brown.  Do not overbake.

This cuts and serves beautifully -as if it had a crust!

Serve with whipped cream.

This is so good and so easy and you can substitute lemon juice for the lime if you like.

Remember about kissing my feet?
Okay...
start kissing....
Have a GREAT SUNDAY and
EAT SOME PIE!
SPRING LIME PIE!

AND THE FIRST PLACE GOLD MEDAL GOES TO...........

Remember when I said
I wasn't going to bore you with more
GRANDKID STORIES?
You do?
Well.......I lied.
I HAVE to share this!

Our little Miss Ria!
She is in her
FIRST YEAR of DANCE COMPETITIONS.
This was her
FIRST COMPETITION!
Look at this solo performance!
Can you see how high she is?
The lighting changed from red to blue
throughout her performance
She is teeny-tiny and the youngest one
in her team.
Isn't she sweet?
Perfect form they say....
And such a heartfelt performance...
And the winner is..........MaRIA
with her teacher, Miss Kelsey of
There were well over 200 performers there.
She was one of SIX to get a dance scholarship
to a school in Chicago for a summer session.

Whew!  Good work, MaRIA!
You can celebrate with a hot chocolate!
You look like a
WHITE ANGEL!!!
WHAT?
There's ANOTHER COMPETITION?
Who is THIS?
Your EVIL TWIN????
Hmmmm...wonder if SHE is as good as YOU are!

It's True! There is a PARROTHEAD In The House- AND places to EAT

Lest you think
I am turning into one of those
BORING OLD LADIES
that talks about their grandchildren
all the time-well---
after this post I will give you a
GRANDKID BREAK
for a while.
This was too comical not to share.

When Charles In Charge and
Baby Bright Eyes are napping
Big Boy E gets to play with his
camping set which has approximately
6,345,827 pieces.
I may have miscounted the pieces but I am close.
He was playing quietly on the floor.
My daughter looked over to see this:
Mimi Mama:  Ethan, What are they doing up there on the roof?
Big Boy E:  They're all set up for a Jimmy Buffett concert.
OH NO!  A Parrothead in the making!

Mimi could barely contain herself.
What 5 year old knows who Jimmy Buffett is
let alone that people take campers and sit
on top of them to watch his concert?
Big Boy E takes things quite seriously.
Don't laugh at him cuz it hurts his feelings.
 Oh- No!
It IS a Parrothead in the making.
Are you wondering
image
Well, it is someone that loves
and follows Jimmy Buffett
like BigBoy E's Daddy does.
His Daddy spent a lot of time in Key West
as the head of the
Boy Scout Sea Base.
Yep- his Daddy is a Parrothead!
Here he is WITHOUT the feathers!

I think Big Boy E will be okay
as long as he doesn't want one of these:

Y'all have a great day and
you just might want to have
A CHEESEBURGER IN PARADISE!
Just to get in the Island Mood-ya know?

         image

OR.....
YOU might want to stop at Popeyes!
Yes, folks!
This is  a REAL SIGN!
image
I think I will pass on the
Jala PENIS chicken and the POOPERS
but you go right ahead!

Happy St. Patrick's Day- Got Your Green On, Do You?

Top 'O The Morning To You!
Do you love the Irish?
You do?
Oh! Goody!
Then I am on the
YOU ARE LOVED LIST!

I finally found some shamrock plants!
If you missed my
Shamrocks Gone Missing Post
you can read that here.

I think these are even better than the ones
I DIDN'T GET!
Can you see that we still have SNOW?
I got the most beautiful card
on a giveaway
from my friend, Louise.
She makes  & sells these lovely cards
@Cards By Louise.
My photo does not do it justice.
Thank you, Louise.
Hmmm..what else around here is Irish
I  have my beautiful
Crystal Irish biscuit jar
from my daughter, Mimi.
And a Belleek vase from my daughter, Tara,
There are Spring flowers in the foyer
along with my
Erin Go Braugh sign.
That means
 IRELAND FOREVER!

So----
IF you believe in LEPRECHAUNS
(and I do- Oh! I do)
Maybe you will get lucky and get visited
by a real
Irish Leprechaun.
I may or may not have ordered this little outfit for
MyHero.
Don't you love it?
Ummmm....
There's an old saying...
If you're lucky enough to be Irish you are
LUCKY ENOUGH!

Isn't MyHero lucky to have such
a thoughtful wife?

Disclaimer:  This is NOT MyHero in that costume.
He refuses to put it on and have his picture taken.
He says he doesn't like bell-bottoms.  pffffffftttt..
What a spoil-sport!
