A HOME I JUST STAGED FOR FUN! Befores and Afters

Hi there!
Lest you think I am sluffing off when I am
not on the computer
I will prove otherwise.

I met a new friend a couple of weeks ago.
She recently retired and decided
when she grows up she wants
to be a realtor.
Her name is

You know how it is when you meet
someone new and it is like you are
OLD FRIENDS.
Well...not that we are OLD...
but we felt like we were not
NEW FRIENDS.  lol

Guess what!
Cindy got right out there and got her first listing!
Whoo Hooo!
Cindy asked me if I would be interested in
STAGING THE HOME.

I have kind of quit doing that over the years but,
being the sucker that I am
I decided I would stage this one for her.

The bonus is that the owner, Brenda,
has some wonderful pieces
AND she has a good eye for color.
(She's a quilter extraordinaire--
and you know how quilters are with color-
okay---if you DON'T know- they are GOOD)

So, I had good bones to start with-
It just needed a bit of shaping up.
I won't tell you that my
daughter-in-love calls me the staging Nazi-
but she loves me anyway--or pretends
she does.

So- I did a walk through one day and went
back and spent a second day working.
I am using pictures from the realtors' listings
so bear with me.

Going to show you
BEFORES & AFTERS.
In case you CAN'T tell-
the BEFORE shots are on the left...

First up-
The Foyer
The Kitchen
Dining

Dining 2
Living Room
Fireplace

 Loft
This was probably the biggest change.
This HUGE bedroom was set up as a
Sewing room.
We made it back into a bedroom.
And then, we combined the
Sewing Room & Office in the other
LARGE BEDROOM-
MASTER BEDROOM
is on the first floor.
There is also a nice sized
MASTER BATH.
There's a large
UPSTAIRS BATHROOM

There is also a
POWDER ROOM
on the first floor.
And a nice sized
LAUNDRY ROOM

Here's the link if you want to see more.
It's a really lovely home-
bright, airy and a great use of space.

There is also a lovely club house
and pool.
And, the best part of it all-
THE OWNER.
If this sells she is moving closer to me.
Win/Win!

Hmmm...swimming pool, huh?
Well---I might just pop over for a swim...
Or....Maybe not.............
Have a great day!!!!

Final Staging Pictures Of Tom & Ruth's House

Finally!
The first floor is all done
except for the master bedroom!
The attic is emptied!
The house is on the market!
Here is a quick recap of what we did.
This is the outside entry to the house.
We added the lions (which Ruth had)
the plants and the bistro table and chairs.
Entering the house there is a small table
and there is the hall leading to the living room
Small table sits to the left inside entry door.
Living room.
The sofa sits was in front of the windows
but was moved to the wall where the TV rested.
The dining room staged to sell
The kitchen
The color of the walls is as seen
above the BREAD tin.
The family room
Girls room
Wallpaper is from Victoria Magazine
and the bedding is
Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic
Bed moved from left wall to back wall.
Closet (w/garden door)
is now to the left of the bed.
Boys room
Backyard
Okay-That's it for now.
I'll do some final pictures when the master bedroom
is finished.
It has been a lot of work but a lot of fun
talking over old times as we worked.
Lots of laughter and a few tears when
I realize that when the house sells they
will down South for good.
Ha!  I know how to drive!
They are not gonna see the last of ME by moving!

The Kitchen Witch Stages The Kitchen

Yes!
THE KITCHEN WITCH
would be ME!

I actually think Tom  might have
replaced the first letter of Witch
But-I'm not sure
as we moved our way from staging
the dining room into the kitchen.
After I had the kitchen staged
for the showing I wouldn't let
Tom eat at the table...
(snicker)
Now you know WHY I am the
KITCHEN WITCH.

However, it does look NICE, doesn't it?
The solid cherry cabinets are in excellent shape.
Not a nick or a scratch on the countertops either-
This is looking out the patio doors to the back yard.
Dinette is on the right.
For some reason my camera was
NOT working right
it certainly could NOT have been the photographer's fault
Anyway, here you can see how the kitchen/dinette
leads into the family room
and ties into the alcove
between kitchen and dining room.
I'll have a few more pictures to show you
in a day or so.
I told Tom if he doesn't
LIKE ME as his KITCHEN WITCH
I will send him a replacement.

Now, I ask you.
Who YOU gonna call to stage your kitchen?

Meanwhile Back At The Ranch (House)

Well, I took a break from
posting about Tom & Ruth's house
for a few days.
However, that does not mean that the work
came to a standstill.

My oldest son, God bless him,
had some time between jobs and
worked tirelessly for 2 days on the back yard.

Here is a quick AFTER:
My friends were gone about 8 months out of the year for the last 3 or 4 years.
The yard kind of took on a life of its own.
Here is the before of this area.
Much better, huh?

Here's another BEFORE shot:
That pile of brush in the center is a koi pond
that has been abandoned and filled with brush.
My son cleared it and then
we covered it with plywood
and some indoor/outdoor carpet with signs
telling people what it is and warning them to
 STAY OFF THE GRASS!;>)

Here's the other side of the back:
Before:
Another Before:
After the MAGIC SCISSORS  treatment:
MUCH BETTER.
Not perfect- but oh-so-much better!

Tomorrow, if I can stay awake long enough to type
I will show you the final staging on the
inside of the house.
It's looking GOOD girls, REALLY good.
I think I have EARNED a treat, don't you?
Hmmmmmm
I don't drink so I guess I will have to do
the next best thing:

Care to join me?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Anyone?

Two For Tea- Or Three-Or Four-Or Five- Or- WHAT? How many?

Don't you think this
is beautiful?
It is probably my favorite~
at least for the moment.
Do you remember when I showed
you Ruth's cabinet filled with teapots
the other day? You can see it here
Several of you expressed
an interest in teapots and
asked for a closer look.

So-I snapped some quick pictures
of some of her teapots.
I didn't take them out of the cabinet
so you will have to take what you get here!
I am SO nice, aren't I?

Take a peek at a few of them.
Did you notice that about half of the teapots
have porcelain trivets under them?
I don't think I ever saw these before.
They are as pretty as the teapots.
Here's a close up of three of them.
This set has two matching cups-
Ruth sure does like PRETTY, doesn't she?
She has MANY pretty things.
Remember when I said she willingly gave me things?
I am drawn to things that are a bit offbeat.
(which explains why I married MyHero)
Well...look at this sweet little thing!
Guess what!!!!
While you are making tea
I will be
Warming My Buns-
And NO! I am NOT sitting on a heating pad-
Thanks for asking!
Hope you have a great day.
Back with more staging pictures tomorrow.

Ruth's Living Room- Staged To Sell

I am almost embarrassed to show you
the pictures I took.
I don't know what happened but I think
my camera was on the wrong setting.
I am just going to give you a peek
because these are the only pictures
that turned out.
Here is the Jasper secretary
on the left side of the fireplace.
This fireplace is also an antique mantle
that they salvaged
like the one in the family room here.
Here is kind of where we started.
We had started sorting and had
packing materials on the floor.
The sofa moved to the wall that holds the TV.
The TV was given away and
the two furniture pieces
you see on the left went to auction.
See the Noah's Ark picture?
That's the one we moved to
the "boy's room" here.

This is where the white chairs that are covered
with packing materials in the left photo above went.
They are where the sofa used to sit.
Hmmmm-just noticed I need to
neaten up those cords.
The pillows have bits of color that
pick up the color of the carpeting.
Here is the Jasper curio cabinet to the right of the fireplace.
We gathered and displayed
Ruth's teapot collection in there.
This is looking out through
the French doors towards
the foyer.
Can you see all the wonderful doors?
I will try to get some full room pictures
on Wednesday.
Hang in there!
I promise you pretty!!!

Staging Ruth's House- There's An Elephant In The Room

Okay-
Can you spot it?
The elephant!  Can you spot the elephant?
How about TWO of them-
Can you spot TWO of them?
Okay-then-smarty pants-
How about THREE of them-
Can you spot THREE of them?
Look close-there are at least
THREE ELEPHANTS in the room.
Here is the room when we
were using it for sorting things.
Yeah- It's a mess-we know it..
It didn't always look this way until we started
ripping things apart.
Can you see the wallpaper on the walls?
Abracadabra -loving the off-white paint that replaced it.
Out went 2 big pieces of furniture
and assorted other pieces.
We moved the bed to the wall on the left.
In front of the windows went a small stand.
The house has quite a feminine feel to it
so the goal is
to make one bedroom feel like a boy's room.
What boy wouldn't love this sweet little dog?
The bedrooms are all good sized.
This is the smallest one and is still good sized..
Bits and pieces
Oh- And did I happen to mention that
EVERY BEDROOM
has French doors into the closets?
Uh-huh
Don't you love that detail?
Looking like a boy's room now, isn't it?
More rooms coming up!
Y'all come back now and bring a paintbrush, will ya?
