It's A BANNER Kind Of Winter Day!

Minus 45 Degrees?
Minus 50 Degrees?
They need to add wind chill in there
as if Minus 18 degrees is not cold enough?

Well, it't been a BANNER winter so far
so we decided to pay it homage.

We went through magazines and found
pictures that reminded us of winter.
This is what we ended up with.
Isn't  that cute?
It is made out of squares of white posterboard
with magazine pictures glued on.
Gluing is serious business around here.
I love the way the sunlight highlights the uncombed hair.
Lulu adorned little clothespins with paper.
Yep-It starts as a mess...
And it gets laid out before gluing and adding letters.
Pretty cute in the end, huh?
SweetCheeks punched all the holes to put the string through.
That was her favorite job.
The door on the letter N
actually swings open
and you look into a
"room with a view".

So there you have it-
Our WINTER banner
that will hang from their home mantle.
The girls went home late today.
It is quiet here now...
very quiet...
it is so quiet I think I will sneak off to my
WINTER CAMPER
to take a nap.
I got it for a gift last year.
Is that not he cutest cookie jar you've ever seen?

Have a good day- we are still way below
ZERO DEGREES HERE.
Maybe I'll warm my underwear in the microwave
before I get dressed....
or...
maybe not~

They did a wonderful job on that winter banner. I'm sure they enjoyed their snow days home with you. It was a fun extended break. Our whole house is dragging this morning getting ready for school.

You are seriously such a great grandmother. The memories you are making with them are priceless. My husband only knew one of his grandparents and she was old. I feel so sorry for him that he missed out on the grandma thing!

Looks like you kept the girls busy and had a bunch of fun. Love it all and that door is so cute. Who did that one? We are getting our heat wave, finally. It is up to 11 above.

What a beautiful banner, Sizzle Pants! I especially like the door that really opens. Yes, very clever all around.

I love that you are crafting with littles. My girl and I have been crafting like crazy. This morning she woke up and went straight to the studio. She came out just long enough to tell me she loves me and that she is so happy we have a studio. Bliss. Also? I want/need that cookie jar. Precious!

Precious girls. Precious projects. Trouble is, at-home-with-Nana must be more fun, than going to real school. -grin-

Yes Nana, take a lovely nap, or 3 or 4. In the cutest camper around. :-)

How about just tossing your "long johns" in the dryer for a minute or two? Instead of the microwave? :-)

When the weather outside is frighful, Nana makes the inside delightful, me thinks.

Projects like these are so much fun for kids, but me thinketh they're even more fun for grandmas ;).

The cookie jar is precious! In fact, just out of principle I would eat every cookie in there and screw weight watchers!!

Very cute banner, Diana, and I'll bet they had a good time making it, too. We will be at 22 degrees today. The highest its been in several days. By Friday 45. I'll be looking for my shorts and flip-flops then! : )

Good Morning Diana, The girls have had a lot of fun with grandma. Of course, grandma does spoil them just a little bit, a lot or at least we are suppose to. I love the winter banner and I am sure mom will also. I really don't know of anyplace warm right now. I have enjoyed reading previous post. Have a wonderful day and stay warm. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

You should get some relief from the cold today because it is snowing here. All in all though, we have a winter that is not too cold. I remember those days at -40 in Anchorage and that was without the wind.

Jackie See said...

That looks like so much fun to do! You bet it is cold, we are expecting more sleet this afternoon. We are counting the days until we can get out on the lake and cruise in the sunshine in our summer flip flops!

You are a fun-loving grandmother. Your grandkids are blessed. I never knew my grandmothers. My mother's mother lived with us till I was 4 or 5 then left and I never saw her again till I was 18 and she was dying. I had a step grandmother....but just not the same. Not sure what I was suppose to learn from that, but it would have been nice to have a grandmother like you.

The banner looks like fun to make and yes, you are creating wonderful memories.

The girls did a great job on their Winter banner…very cute! You are so funny about warming up you under ware in the microwave…it reminds me of how I use to warm up my daughters socks in the mooring before school…be careful because I actually burned one of them…lol. Having 70 degree weather here… I don't know how you do it. Xo Tammy

Their banner turned out so cute! I bet that was a fun project to do together. I don't know how you cope with that weather! I got a taste of it this week myself and I must say I didn't like it. I think your winters are brutal (where ours is mild) and our summers are brutal. Not sure how yours are. My husband used to always complain in the summer that he wanted to move away from the heat and humidity of the south. But then he experienced the deep freeze recently and could hardly stand it either! LOL!

What a fun banner! My girls have been drawing pictures the past few days - they have designed a new species - they call them cat-people. they have a whole family created and are now drawing their homes and wardrobes! They even drew classmates and a bully!

Diana-
that cookie jar is adorable. I'm uncertain about this; but do you have a camper? Or just really, really like them?
The girls and you made a cute little banner and created some fun memories! I loved this little idea. I might steal it and do something similar with my littles. ;)

We didn't get anything below 0 even with wind chills...but we got pretty gosh dern cold for East Texas!
Stay warm dear.

You are right! That is an adorable cookie jar. You ...and I know I've said this before..but YOU are the neatest Grandmother ever! I have read a lot of blogs tonight and all of them talk about how cold it is where they are. Only one said the worst of it missed them but they were still really cold.
Heavens, but this is one cold, cold Winter for most of our nation.
Big hugs.

As to warming underwear..well I do have steam heat here and laying things on the radiators is not unheard of. Usually hats and wet gloves but I'll keep underwear and socks in mind for future use :)

It's been cold here...20 below with wind chills 30 below or more. Bless God, it's gotten warmer the end of the week.
