The Outside Is Inside At My House!

What?
What's that you say?
How could the
OUTSIDE
be
INSIDE?

Well, let me 'splain, Ricky..
(remember Lucille Ball-
she was nuts, too- we're sisters-
except I am blond)-
Where was I?

Oh!
When we rebuilt this house
we were mired down by
city codes and restrictions.
We could not just add on
anywhere.
It was a 1970's house in
perfect shape
but it needed updating
AND we wanted a master suite
and a big kitchen/living area combo.

Anyway,
We had to build back over the old
roof and then create an access
to that roof...
I know..I know..crazy...
Instead of having them put an
access hole in the closet I
suggested a DOOR and a LEDGE
up top next to the new ceiling.
WHAT?
They SERIOUSLY thought I
had FINALLY lost it!

Let me tell you THIS!
AS SOON as we built it
the gnomes moved in.
George and Ethel.

We have never seen them
but they turn their outside light on
at night and when it goes out
all good children head
right for bed!
Amazing control exerted
from an unseen entity~

Right after Thanksgiving
Ethel hangs a wreath
on their 30" front door.
As it gets closer to Christmas
Papa Gnome comes
OUT of the door into his
ROOFTOP house
and stands there with his
list in hand..
watching...and watching..
to see who is
Naughty and who is Nice.
And he puts lighs on the topiary tree
for the Season.
He has an elf helper that sits
in an antique sleigh off to one side.
I love the side of his sleigh~
(sorry bad pic-the elf scared me)
Next to the sleigh is a
small bird bath..
and a bird house.
I'm sure George feeds the birds
because SweetCheeks is
POSITIVE that there
was one up there
Churphing-Listhen..
I heahr him nohw!

On the other side sits a
 wrought iron chair
that holds an antique
German musical bird cage...
backed up
with some greenery that
twinkles with light.
From the ladder it looks
like this..
you can see the cords..
George will get them later.
But once you are off the ladder
and across the room it looks like this...
I don't know HOW I got to
be SO blessed with all
this MAGIC that
goes on around me.
I just hope
SANTA isn't watching ME
too close...
cuz I'm pretty sure I would
be on the
NAUGHTY LIST!

No- I'm not REALLY naughty~
Just ask anyone that knows me..
QUIET, JETTIE!!!

ps...As an added note my
DAUGHTER,
that I have been waiting on
HAND and FOOT
because of her new baby,
had the audacity to say
that anyone that came into this
house and didn't KNOW me
would think that a
CRAZY PERSON
lived here.
Seriously!!!!
You know what I said?
WIPE YOUR OWN KID'S BUTT..
and then I sent her to bed.
your photo name

I won't say a word, Sis, Not me, No Way!

Your house shows the character of the owner, a little on the strange side maybe, but not crazy by any stretch. And you know me, Strange people are my favorites,
Love ya.

Lol! "wipe your own kids butt" ~ you are too funny Diana! I have a high ledge like that too, but I didn't do up there. I just did above the cabinets, which is high enough for me, thank you. Love that little door. I know you just had to play off it with your Christmas decorating. I wouldn't worry about the cords either ~ no one can see them, unless you are going to have everyone climb the ladder for a closer look. : )

LOL- Well, Mimi is right, you know. Love this little space and I loved the little arched door! Beats any access door I ever saw.
Love all your pretties up there and the story of them. Love what you call your creatures, most call them squirrels and bats.
Have a great day!

No worries! Being crazy is quite okay. And what would anyone who didn't know you be doing in your home anyway?

Gnomes are a good thing right? I mean if you have a little door you need some little people. I think you are just the right one for them to live with too! Crazy or not.
