You know how there
are mundane things like
that need to be wrapped?
And sometimes
you don't want to just
stick them in box
with a bow on it.
With a little extra work
you can make a really

I shared this idea two or three years ago
but thought it is worth a repeat
with wrapping season upon us.
Look! Here's a peek!
Want to know how I did it?
Here we go~
First you must get a sock..
well, make it a pair because
one sock won't work for
MOST people.
How about something like
Cute, huh?
Then you must find some of
those short peppermint sticks.
You can buy them
or just chew the hook off candy canes.
Then let the
peppermint stick
the SOCK!
Before you can say
that peppermint stick
has jumped into the sock
and worked its way down
into the toe.
Can you see it there?
I've pinched it to make it stay
and now I am gonna roll
that little sucker up
into what I like to call
Well, GREAT, we have a
Now~ what the heck do we do with that?
There's another kinda roll
lying around my house
cuz I've been saving them.
Used toilet paper rolls.
No..No..Not used toilet paper..
Used up empty rolls.
They look like this when they are naked.
Don't worry about that little bit of
white tissue left-you won't see it soon.
Find some foil based wrapping paper.
Foil works best because you can
bend the edges down and you
don't have to glue/tape it
unless you want to go tape crazy.
Wrap the foil paper around
that roll leaving about 1/3"
extending over each end.
Simply bend the paper down
so that it overlaps the edge of the roll.
You will not see this when it is
done but you can glue/tape it
if you like.
Sneak up on those socks and
stuff them in the roll.
A roll in a roll.
I'm just keeping myself rolling here!;>)
Remember you won't see this at the end.
Then, take some sweet tissue paper
and cut an 18" x 18" piece~
or thereabouts.
Starting at one end,
roll that baby up and then
twist the ends so that it
looks like a big old fat
piece of taffy.
Laffy Taffy!
Now is that cute, or what?
I only need to tie a bit of ribbon
around the twist and I'm done.
And, when it's unwrapped
they will see the shiny foil roll
and NOT this..
Cuz the only place we
REALLY want to see THAT
is in the bathroom....

And we don't even really want
to see it here because that
would mean that someone
like MyHero..
not pointing fingers here but it
has happened
has used the last piece on
the roll
 and neglected to replace
it and there is none to be found
making me want to scream
bad words...naughty words...
Now get rolling and wrapping
cuz it's DECEMBER and
Christmas Is Coming!
And I'll just say a little prayer for you
to have to go to the bathroom
a whole lotta times
(if you need empty rolls
to wrap your socks)
cuz I am just nice like that!;>)

Have fun getting going--
You're welcome!

Diana, I like the idea of wrapping socks like this. At least the kids won't squeeze the package and say "Socks", like my nephew used to do.:) Hope your family is gathering for your Christmas there. We will all be together this holiday...maybe not right on Christmas day but close. As I have aged , I want only to be with family and friends for the holidays. That's the best gift. The gift of time and love. Merry Christmas and love to you my friend. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

Very pretty finish! I used to enjoy creative gift wrapping.

You might also need some castor oil... 😏

Such a cute idea! Alas, the socks I gave would need a paper towel roll for a giant.

That sounds perfect! Thank you for sharing with us!

What an adorable idea!
The wrapping, not the 'who the heck left the TP roll like this?"
Merry Christmas!

I have a few pairs of socks yet that need wrapping. I was thinking of sticking them in a small bag with some curly cue ribbon. This is so much better. Socks are a default gift but an appreciated gift as it is something everybody can use. However, it does not set the room on fire with excitement. This wrapping can help. Now to see if any roll is near it’s end.

Merry Christmas, Diana, and may good things come your way in the new year.

Cute as can be! And fun! Ms. Diana, we need to have words. Publishing that fudge recipe was a serious thing. At least a five pound serious thing -- and that's if I can get the rest of it out the door in a gift and not on my hips. It is ThE BEST FUDGE EVER. Just sayin' ... and now, I should mainline some salad, just because it could be the healthiest thing I've seen since you posted the fudge recipe.

When I was young, I hated getting socks. Now they are like getting Gold.

This is adorable! And we always exchange socks. It started out as a joke when my husband and I began dating and now it’s a family tradition. Merry Christmas my friend! Xxoo

I used to do that {without the peppermint stick} when my guys were teenagers and those white sox were the in thing. I remember the first year I presented them that way, the kids couldn't figure out what on earth was in the roll! It was lots of fun! I am glad you shared because it is a wonderful idea for gifting socks. Merry Christmas, Diana!

please reverse my prayers to make me stop going to the bathroom so much, ha ha… very clever and very pretty and no one would ever guess it has socks in it. I received a package that looked like yours after finished, when I opened it there were earrings in a pill bottle. that was a shock. teeny tiny package with a nice gift inside.

Glad to see a post here.

'Cause I was getting a little worried...

'Cause I am like that.

"Oh, there's no place like home for the holidays
'Cause no matter how far away you roam
When you pine for the sunshine of a friendly gaze
For the holidays you can't beat home sweet home!"

Since you are so smart and creative, send me some of your energy. Never would I do this. Very cute idea, but I am a "sack" person. Was so pleased when I got your Christmas card. Meant a lot to me. May you and family be blessed with a glorious and happy New Year.

Neat idea

I never think of giving socks as a present but it is not a bad idea you don't have much trouble with the sizing and if they hate them they can always wear them to bed.

I LOVE this idea! Im going to save it! Oh, my favorite brother got good news yesterday. Prayer always is the answer. He is in a good place since we found out yesterday at the oncologist office that there is no activity, no changes from 6 months ago. He will get a 6 weeks holiday from all the chemos, and start again. XXXX
