Chateau de Ledgeview- The Dining Room & Beyond

I "lost" some of my pictures.
Don't ask me HOW I did that
because I can't tell you HOW.
But- they are somewhere
in my computer,
I hope I'm sure.

So, sadly, today's "tour"
of the dining room will be short and sweet.
I'll post more pictures when I find them.

Here is the dining room as it sits now.
When you step in from the foyer and
look to your right,
this is the room you see.
They used barn wood for wainscoting.
Reclaimed barnwood seems to be
the "hot" ticket right now.

This is what it looked like when they started.
A pretty enough room but he corner cabinets were
poorly constructed and needed to come out.
The door to the left used to go to the kitchen.
The room was completely closed off.
They stole two feet from the dining room
to give themselves a bigger kitchen.
Here it is during construction.
This is looking at the opposite side of the
wall between the
kitchen and dining room where
they built this server.
The see-through cabinet above has
seeded glass and holds glassware.
The dining room is behind this-
you can see it to the left.
My daughter stenciled a burlap runner
that is on the dining room table.
She used burlap
to tone down the formality
of  the dining room set.
It is layered over a burlap table cloth.
One corner holds two of T's favorite things.
A picture of Ria as a toddler and
the white ironstone pitcher.
The pitcher is the FIRST THING I ever bought
after MyHero and I moved into our first house.
Family picture in the dining room?
Sure!  Why not?

And what is just outside the dining room
in the foyer?
Here's just a peek.
I'll show you more of that next week.
And tomorrow?
Well, I just might have some birthday pictures of a
cute little two year old!

My son said there would be
BIRTHDAY HATS
for everyone to wear to CJK's
BIRTHDAY PARTY.
MyHero is looking forward to wearing a
cute little hat.
Hey!  Look!
I found him a couple of girlfriends to party with....

His brother told me MyHero dated
a couple of dogs in his time.
I don't want him to think he has
lost his touch!
He can still "party down"
with these-ahem-girls.

Have a great Saturday!

Looks good. Where or where could those photos be? I hate that. I just redownload a photo and pay attention to the file name so I can find them. Have a good weekend.

Love the barn wood for wainscoting. Chris has been tempted to buy barn wood when we visit estate sales. I'll have to show him this post. Love this house. Your daughter and grands must be so happy.

Brilliant to add to the size of the kitchen and lose some in the dining room - wish I would have thought of that here - it's genius.

The house sure is looking great- golly your daughter and co have been busy!

Have fun at the bday party - two year olds are so stinking cute. Hugs.

Pretty! Pretty! I feel your pain about the pictures. I have been taking gobs of pictures with my cell which for some reason sends them to Google Chrome and I am having a heck of a time figuring out how to download them to my COMPUTER without a dozen steps. Why can't things be easy? Have a great weekend. I bet their is a cool fresh breeze up your way this morning!

I'm so glad CJK got over his illness and is healthy and strong and celebrating a birthday. What a blessing. I still remember the randomness of a reader writing in to help diagnose him. And the house is pretty. I think they're going to love living there and filling those walls with memories!

Funny how things come around again and again - in 1984 we had a house with a kitchen partly paneled in reclaimed barn board - I loved it!

Diana,
There's so much about these rooms that I like. First of all, I love that angel picture in the foyer, it's beautiful. Ria's framed picture and the white pitcher look so nice side by side. And I love that kitchen! Your daughter has good taste, Diana, and she has done a wonderful job making this a lovely home for her family to dwell in.

please keep up the marvelous work, of "telling us where you are standing, when taking pics"!!!! this way, we can orient ourselves, to the layout. i love, love, love to know layout, when peeking into homes!!! ,-))))

i once got in trouble, because of wanting layout info, though... on a tasha tudor group... asking about layout of tasha's home.... seems one of her daughter's got to thinking i was going to come over and try to "break" in or something. lol. had a bit of a set-to, with said daughter. but i do not expect that to happen, with you my dear. -giggggles-

Remember when reclaimed barnboard was the height of fashion in the 70's. It all comes back around. I like the direction they went in the dining room. It's a great blend of formal and casual.
