The Horrors Of Halloween - Going Going GONE

I couldn't resist

posting this again

for Halloween.

This is SweetCheeks

at two years old.

She is 6 now.

Here she is holding

she picked out.

Here she is about

15 seconds later.

Poor SweetCheeks.

I love that we have a

moment like this forever

frozen in time.

Someday she will show this

to her own granddaughter

and smile a sweet/sad

little smile-remembering

the little girl she used to be.

I hope you have a

Happy Safe Halloween.

A Few Fall Things And A Glowing Burlap Tree

Well, here I am again with things
that I cut out of magazines
over the years.
My own personal Pinterest!

I have NO idea what the source
these outside ideas came from
so I can't reference them.

I LOVE this.
Here's the funny thing-
I hung a lit pumpkin like this from a
 Shepherd's Hook
in our backyard.
I thought I was SO CLEVER.
Well, that cleverness must have come by osmosis
because I found that in my
Book Of Ideas
two weeks after the "hanging"!
At night it is very eerie because
the wind moves it and it looks
like it is floating.
Scared the beans out of someone I know.

I think the urn under it is just gorgeous!
I need to put something like that together.
The green urn looks great for the base, doesn't it?

Crazy about this idea for a birdbath!
I can't tell you how many ideas I have copied
over the years.
Are there really ANY new ideas?
Or am I the only copy cat out there?
You know I  just sit around
and eat Twinkies and wait
for others to come up with ideas
for me to steal use, right?

How about some glowing
for your porch?
This says to use a topiary frame but I think
it would work with a
tomato cage tied together at the top.
I'm not sure what the little "balls"
are but they look like burdock(?)
to me.  It doesn't say what they are.
Here's the directions.
 Speaking of glowing.....
How about getting a little glow on
INSIDE the house?
Oh- Wait-That looks like soda pop
to me!
Maybe you'd care for some of this instead?

Just make sure you don't drink too much
because you don't want to end up looking like
WC Fields
As for me?
I'll be warming up with a
sugarless Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Thank you very much!!!!

You know one of the best things about blogging?
The people you meet!

Do you remember a few weeks ago when
my kitchen?
At that time I said
I was not very good at
Guess what?
A very sweet blogger, Ms. M,
over at
did this for me!
Can you believe it?

She is something, isn't she?
If you don't know this gal she is one of the
funniest bloggers I know.
And she eats Twinkies and Doritos with cheese....shhhhh

She is uber talented and does more than just
chalkboards-she does lots of "littles"
like this.
Is that cute, or what?
Hope that is okay to use that, m.
I have a lawyer on retention, just in case
you're pitching a hissy fit.

Anyway, A big thanks, m!
I LOVE that Chalkboard done right!

You can click on the chalkboard to go to her blog.
You are WAAAAAY too good to me!

There's A Ghost In My House- Or Two- Or Three

Years and years ago I cut
this out of some magazine.
I thought it would be fun to do this
for one of the old houses we lived in.
Isn't he sweetly spooky?
And, he has a friend!
I don't know the source of these because
I have had the clipping for so many years.

SweetCheeks and Ria and I
decided that it might be fun
to make our own little ghosts.
I used plain old tissue paper like you use for gifts.

Don't laugh- After SweetCheeks
cut out the first one I ironed the
tissue paper with a dry iron to flatten it out.

We commenced to cutting-
Yes! We do wear our princess dresses for crafts.
And cutting.....
Some of us wear our bride dresses......
And...when we are done we have some
Do you love it?
I used magic marker on a couple of them
for the eyes and mouth.
Pretty skeeery-----
I wish I could show you how eerie they look from outside
but it was hard to get a picture.
This is the best I could do.
They look better from outside!

This was taken in the backyard with the
tree reflected in the window. know what else is skeery inside?
It's the
Caught after he flew in to
steal some donut holes!
Oh- I am SOOO going to get it now!
If you don't hear from me in 24 hours
please call and tell someone that
I went missing!

I will be doing a disappearing act
for most of the day but I will
to catch up with all of you~

Three Ingredient Artichoke Dip

I am lucky to have grandkids
that will eat almost anything.

What sounds like a fun treat?
Artichoke Dip!
Artichoke Dip!
All you need is:
1 can of water packed artichokes.
1 cup of grated parmesan cheese
1/2 cup of mayo.
 Chop the artichokes.
Stir in the parmesan and mayo.
Heat for 5 minutes in the microwave on high.
or put into a mini crock pot
and heat through.

I served this with crackers this time
but I usually serve it with french bread pieces.
So, how did the kids fare that will
"eat almost anything"?
You will notice we are eating in our
Princess clothes.
Thing One
It makes you want to CHOKE when
you eat it!
Thing Two
The "bride" didn't like it much either.
Welcome to the real world, Nana.
What's this?
Even Rosetta looks a little stunned!

Never fear-
Nothing wasted here.
MyHero polished it off.

My Apple Chunk Cake----- Not For The Calorie Conscious

Helllooooo Wisconsin!
We DO like our butter here.
We also like apples...
okay..and flour and sugar...

I have played with this recipe over the years
and it is pretty darned good -
if I do say so myself.
I made this when my cousins were here.
One cousin contacted me for the recipe
so I assume that means it was good.
Anyway-that meant I needed to type it out.
Here it is.
Grease a 9x13 pan.  Preheat oven to 300

Mix together:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar (white)
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon ( I used Apple Pie spice)
dash of salt

Add  above to:
Two sticks butter
Four eggs
Cream two sticks butter and blend in 4 room temperature eggs(that is important-don't use cold eggs)

Add the flour mixture above.
Stir until well blended.
Then stir in:
4 cups peeled apple chunks
2 cups walnuts

Spread in greased pan.

Bake ONE hour a 300.  It is hard to test for doneness because the apples stay "wet".  It should look a bit "dry" on top.  You may have to add additional time depending on how much water your apples have in them.

Cool completely and frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting:
1 stick butter
3/4 pound confectionery sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 -8 oz pkg cream cheese

Cream butter and cream cheese together and add sugar. Beat well and then add the vanilla.

I also sprinkle the top very lightly with the Apple Pie spice after it is frosted.

Serve with good hot coffee or tea or ice cold milk.,
I have two of the three girls here this weekend.
I think we might make a pan of this for fun-
just in case they are thinking about getting skinny on me!
Have a wonderful day-
I will visit as I can!

LOOK AT THIS HOUSE My Daughter Found!

I was gone all day yesterday.
I drove South about 100 miles to look at
with my daughter.
I won't post the address yet
or tell you just where it is
but it is in their scope.
It needs work.
Quite a lot of work...
WHERE do you find walls that are this thick?
You find it in a house that was built in the 1860's!
This is a kitchen window with original sill.
There are lots of original features
but the bathrooms have been updated beautifully.
There's a nice big living room
To the left you can see the front door with transom.
Front side porch off the kitchen
Back side porch & pergola off the kitchen
Kitchen is a gut job-plain & simple.
Except the original brick floor and wall would stay.
That's a small pantry on the far right.
So....This MIGHT be the home for two little boys
and a brand new baby girl to grow up in.
It MIGHT be their forever home.
Can't you see those little guys scrambling around
the barn that sits behind the house?
IF they get the house I found a
for them.
A MOOOOOVING statue for their front yard.
Shhhhhhhh.....I want it to be a total surprise!

I have some sweet little girls here
for the weekend so I will visit
as I can today!

It's A Baby- But Is It A Boy Or A Girl?

None of my kids ever
knew before the birth what
they were going to have-
be it boy or girl it was a surprise.
this time my wonderful Mimi wanted to know.
who would join the ranks of this
sweet family.
Are these precious thumbsuckers going to have
brother or a sister?
The found out yesterday!
Are you ready?
Is it a boy?
Is it a girl?

Baby is due on March 17th-
St. Patricks Day!
So...St. Patrick is a boy, right?
St. Patrick might be a boy
but WE are having

~Whooo Hoooo~
Now we pray for a healthy little baby girl,
and a smooth pregnancy and birth
Thank You, Lord!
We just can't wait.....
but we will.....

And meanwhile we will be dreaming
about this!

That will make
FIVE Grandgirls and SIX Grandboys
and ONE little Angel in Heaven
watching over them all.
