A 1970's Valentine Tale-Your Laugh For The Day

The other day I was blog hopping
and came across a blog
called
Amanda is a cutie..
go visit and see for yourself.
Anyway, she asked for the
most memorable
Valentine's Day stories.
I think she meant romantic ones.
However, I have an
un-romantic, funny tale.

This is me..
Taken in the year 1973.
A year when I was single
and living in Florida.
A year when I was
dating.
A year when micro minis
worn over
HOT PANTS
 were
all the rage.
(Anyone remember hot pants?;>)
Who is that girl and
where did she go?
MyHero prefers NOT to
remember this time
but I gotta tell you
I did have some fun.

I worked for a TV station
and had lots of contacts.
One day one of the gals
I worked with invited
me to "get a date" and
attend
The Sheriff's Ball
with her and her hubby.

Now, when I hear the word
BALL
I think of a BALLROOM.
Don't you?
One like this?
I had a
Go-To-Guy for dates,
handsome and wickedly funny.
Nothing romantic,
just a fun, let's go
kind of guy.
I called him to see if
he would like to go with me.
Sure.He.Would.
What are you wearing? He asked.
A gold lame' halter gown.
It was very similar to this one.

Great! He said he would pick me up.
He did and off we went to
The Ball.
He showed up in a tuxedo
with a
GOLD CUMMERBUND
because he was just
THAT GUY...
A BALL. Right?
I was excited to see
THE BALLROOM
What we GOT was
 bar...a NICE BAR...
but-a bar and grill.
Everyone except US
was in
Blue Jeans and
Cowboy Hats.
After getting over the momentary
shock and bowing to laughter
all the way around,
we had a great time.

Everyone thought we were
King and Queen
of the Ball.

I gotta tell you.
I had a BALL..
With or without
the fancy ball room.
We danced till the place closed
and went to Lums for breakfast...
gold lame' and all!
Wait till my grandkids get old
enough to read,
and understand,
this story.

How about you?
Any surprise
Valentine's stories
that you would like
your grandkids to read about someday?

I'm betting there is....

Prayers Please For The Giltter Queen

Well, here I am once again,
asking for prayers.
I don't know how many of you
know Donna.
At least she SAYS that's her name.
I prefer to call her
The Glitter Queen.
There are lots of
sparkling personalities
out here in blogland...
but Donna takes
SPARKLY
to a whole new level.
You see what I mean?
And look at THIS~
Anyway~
Donna needs our prayers.
She is a very private person
so I KNOW how hard
it is for her to
make such a personal
request.

You see,
She is a GIVER,
rather than a receiver,
and it is hard for a
GIVER TO ASK
for anything for themselves.

Y'all know a few
GIVERS,
right?

Anyway,
Wednesday morning
Donna is having a tumor removed.
She has never had surgery.
She is scared,
and anxious,
living away from her family,
even though her hubby
will be by her side,
it is, ultimately,
a journey each person
takes alone.

If you are
a praying person
please lift her up in
prayer.
Pray that her surgery goes
smoothly and that they
can do the laproscopic
procedure without having
to move to the more
invasive surgery.

Pop over to her blog
and wish her well.
Let her know she is loved
here in blogland
and that we are sending a
blessing her way.

And I thank you!

What I Did On My Winter Vacation

Oh! Wait!
I didn't GET my little
winter mini-vacation,
did I?

Wondering what
 I am talking about?
Read yesterday's post.

Well, give me lemons
and I will make lemonade...
or lemon meringue pie-
your choice!

We decided to drive down
to Milwaukee
to attend church with
my daughter, son-in-law
and two boys.

They have been
trying to find a good church
that has young families,
is warm, welcoming
and not too far from home.

BigBoyE seems to like it!

He toddles right off to the
kids' class in
Christ Church
in Mequon, WI.
We liked the church...

At the very end of the service,
all the little ones march to the
front and dance to the
exit music being played.
It was so much fun to
see him dancing with his
little classmates.

CharlesInCharge
was a good boy, too.
After church we headed off
to a little local restaurant.
Being a Wisconsin gal
(now)
I had a ham & cheese omelet.
Gotta keep those cheese factories
in business.
I gave my
pancakes to
BigBoyE
who ate some of them.
I'm pretty sure his
Daddy polished the rest of
them off
when I wasn't looking!;>)

After breakfast
we made a quick trip to their
house to pick up
some paperwork I needed.

We were greeted by the
SNOWMAN
that Mama & BigBoyE
created yesterday.
Just the right size for
LittleMan to help.
Is this the cutest little snowman
you ever saw?
We headed home
to beat the predicted
freezing rain.
And we did.

I don't mind driving in snow...
but I HATE driving
in freezing rain
although it is beautiful
as it dresses the pines.

So, in the end,
all-in-all
it was a very good day.
A day that made me smile.
I will be smiling about
YESTERDAY
all day
TODAY!
I hope
YOUR DAY
is full of smiles, too!

My Weekend Getaway Flip Flop

Well,
I'm still home!
~Home Sweet Home~
Looking out the window
at the snow covered playhouse.
Even though I was supposed
to be in the UP.
Upper Peninsula for all you
Non-Midwesterners.

So...What Happened?
Hmmmm..
SOMEONE
who shall remain nameless to
protect his red-faced hide
FORGOT
he had to work.

WHAT?

Yeah..Yeah.
I switched with somebody.
And you forgot until I am up
at 5:30 am and packing to go?
Yeah..Sorry.
BIG SIGH
Yeah..ME TOO!
Call and cancel the hotel.
We always stay here....
Drink the Starbucks coffee
from the thermos.
Yes-Yes-I have a
PINK STARBUCKS THERMOS
Settle in on the sofa with
the computer,
my magazines,
my Bible
Shhhhhhh I am behind on my
read the Bible in a year
commitment to myself.

Hmmmmm...wait...
Do you have to work on
SUNDAY?
Nope!

How about we drive down to
Milwaukee...early church with the
kids and  buy them brunch?
Works for me...
Good! It works for me, too.
I get to see
BigBoyE and CharlesInCharge.
Not such a bad weekend
after all.
But let's not let
YOU KNOW WHO
that it's not so bad...
m'kay?
I want to milk this for all
it's worth.
AMEN!

A LIttle Pinterest Request

I have been trying
to get a
 Pinterest
"membership"
since last Fall
after seeing things
like this.
I have sent in a
request several times
only to be told that
I would be
receiving an invite.
Sadly, so far,
that has not happened.

Now my understanding
is that someone that
is already a member
can invite others.
Is that how it works?
If so,
could someone
PLEEEEASE
 send me
an invite?

I promise to keep
your identity a secret
because
MyHero
will be looking for you...
and blaming
YOU
for contributing
to my addiction(s).

This is NOT one of
My Addictions
even though
I live in Wisconsin
(otherwise known as the
BEER STATE)
google image
Are you gagging yet?
I found THAT on Pinterest, too!;>)
Yes! I! Did!

Hey!
I told MyHero I gave up
SUGAR.
I gave up
WHEAT PRODUCTS.
I don't
DRINK.
I don't
SMOKE.
I don't do
DRUGS
(Well, unless you
consider
STARBUCKS coffee
a drug)

AND
MOST IMPORTANT
OF ALL...
I gave up
DATING!

A little pinning
surely
won't hurt....
Will it?

He thinks
THIS
is a pin.

Maybe I can throw
him off track
and keep him
in the garage
(so I can pin)
by offering him a
PIN
of his own.

Whaddayathink?

Edited @ 6:25am
I have an invitiation.
Thanks, Lorraine.

Now..
If any of you have popped by
tell me what you
LOVE
at Pinterest.
Any ideas where I should start?
Thanks.

Sad-So Sad-Shabby Streamside Studio Update

I usually try to do an
UPBEAT
FUNNY
POSITIVE
POST.

Today, though,
my heart is breaking for
a girl I have never met.
A girl that is the author of this blog.
I would have posted this earlier but wanted
to wait to get her permission
before I did.

I may not have met her
but I feel like I know her.
She lives not too far
from where I was
born and raised in
the Catskill mountains.
Her name is Sandy Foster.

You all know her.
Most of you have drooled
over her
I know I have.
She has not had an easy life
although you have never
heard her complain.
But THIS..
Well, THIS is just too much to bear.
She needs prayers.
She needs support.
She needs love...
the kind of love that
womankind extends to
one another.

Please pop over to her
and uplift her
and
God will bless you for it.

And The Bride Played On

The Land Of
Make-Believe
is often present
at our house.

I have a whole slew
of costumes
for the girls
when they come over.

Usually,
SweetCheeks adorns herself
with the
Snow White costume.
Or...
Sometimes
she is Cinderella.

Today, however,
she has chosen to be
A BRIDE.
Don't you love how she never
loses the bow?
She does look like
a rather pensive bride,
wouldn't you say?
However,
once dressed,
she happily informed me
 that
she was playing her
Owhn musick
at her wedding.
This is a 30 second piece-
You will be amazed
at the raw talent here.
Seriously....

I can't WAIT to show
this video clip
the day she gets married.

Imagine what
HER
wedding night will be like!

Does My Daughter-In-Love Know Me...Or What?

I have been blessed
with a wonderful
daughter-in-law
She is married to
our youngest son,
MamasBoy.

She has a tough job,
and has to act like a
tough girl a lot of the time.
because she is
TheSecretAgent.

BUT
Guess what?
She is really not that tough.
I was thrilled when she
gave me a special
present.
Do you want to see it?

Well...hold on just a
minute because I have to
tell you that
even SHE didn't know
how special it was.

Several years ago,
we inherited
Gramma Hazel's
Ruby thumbprint
glasses.
8 water glasses
 And 8 sherbert glasses.
So..
When our dil went
looking for special
sparkly glasses
to make into candles
she went to an auction.
The only thing she bid on
was this.
Now is that cool, or what?
She made it into a candle
not realizing it matched
glasses I owned.
And it was
accompanied by several
 sparkly glass friends.
I lit these
but couldn't quite bring
myself to light the
ruby one.
Aren't they sweet?
Gotta love a gal like that!
AND
She has a sense of humor, too.
Look what she dropped off
for my friend...
that lives on a farm.
Can you guess what kind
of farm it is?
uh-huh
Pooor, pooor dear.
Let me just tell you...
she married an CPA
for a large oil company.
Once he had snagged her
he told her his dream
was to own a farm..
A pig farm.

And, because I am the
sweet friend that I am,
I never let her forget it.
I send her a box of
PIGGY ITEMS
every year for Christmas.

Shoot!
Now I ruined it!
She will read this and see
the first purchase for
this year.
Only 11 more pigs to find!
The hunt is on~
Clear your shelf, Sandy!

Fixing A Few Blogger Problems- Blank White Screen And More

Well,
I don't know if this is the
Cure-All
Be-All
Do-All
but I
DO KNOW that
it has worked for me
as far as being able
to receive comments
on my blog.

I had two helpers.
The first was Tete
She helped me out with several
things yesterday.
Things that most of you
already know how to do.
Go visit her- she's a crazy broad
but I love her.

The second one was
Kathy  from
She told me how to fix
my comment section so that
it would be in a
POP UP mode
rather than embedded
below my post.
Easy-peasy-
following her directions..
even for a computer idiot
like myself.

If I can do this-
Anyone can.
Trust me.

To Change Your Comment
Into A Pop-Up Box..
(which seems to eliminate
the dreaded white screen)
Go to your dashboard.
Click on Settings
Click on Comments
(the one UNDER the settings tab-
not the one next to it)
Scroll down until you see
where you have the option of
Pop Up and click on the little circle there.
Make sure you SAVE it by clicking
the Save button.

The other biggie is
WORD VERIFICATION.
I f you are not
in the CIA
or a
Federal Agent you probably
don't need it.
(or if you haven't been a target
of spammers)
Blogger does a pretty good
job of killing the spammers off
before they ever hit your blog.
Having to verify a scrambled
word makes many people
leave without posting.
So...if you aren't getting
as many comments
as you would like,
word verification
might be on and you
aren't even aware of it.
Here's how to check.

Go to Dashboard.
Click on Settings.
Click on Comments.
(the one UNDER the settings tab-
not the one next to it...
don't ask me HOW I know this, m'kay?;>)
Scroll down.
There is a box that says
Show Word Verification For Comments
Click NO
Then scroll down and hit SAVE.
Presto..
You're done.
So easy even a 5 year old can do it.
Even though she might pick
a bow that is too big for her head.
I also went to
Chrome Google
and installed it...
this gal that has never installed
anything on her computer before..
crazy, huh?
Anyway~
Just google it and it will
lead you right through the process
of installing it.  It does make your
computer much faster
and it puts an icon on your desk top.
When asked if you want to make that
your Default server. Click yes...and
you are good to go!

Big Boys And Their Toys

My Hero
generally reads my blog.
He sometimes thinks it
is funny.
Sometimes, I get the
eye roll
(y'all KNOW the
EYE ROLL right?;>)
The eye roll usually is accompanied
by the word
"DIANA"
when he thinks I have
touched on the naughty
side of things.
But, usually, he just
reads and leaves
grinning.

Yesterday
he came in all excited
and asked me to do a
blog about him and
MamasBoy.

What?
What about?
I'll email you.
It's about a
TOY.
A TOY?
What kind of toy?
One with wheels.
Oh...you mean like
our Little Man rides?
Nope!
You mean like THIS one?

Nope!
How about THIS one?

Nope!
LOOK AT THIS!
Oh My!
Does one size fit all?

ummm.
Apparently it does.
I see the shoe horn worked!
Side view
Rear view
Wow-
What are ya gonna do with it?
Sell it!
Of course you are!
Uh-Huh.

I think you have a least
TWO OTHER
Wheeled things that
you were gonna sell, too.
Right?

Let's just say this is the
last time you two are
allowed to go out on a
Saturday morning
unsupervised!

And you complain that
I want to spend money
on
THIS?

Seriously..........
