Baby Kisses And Thumbthing Special

Look at these little feet!
Even on as 10 pounder..
the feet aren't all that big.
I'd say Mom was
"engaged" in some fun activities
with the new one.
oh-I just crack myself up
Is there anything sweeter
than a new Mama's kisses?
Here's our little Boyo-
Charles In Charge!
He is home now.
He is SUCH a good baby!
No newborn clothes for this one...
he went right into the
3 month size outfits.
He is sturdy!
He~
Eats.
Sleeps.
Poops.
Eats.
Poops.
Sleeps.
As you can see-
we got kind of a routine
going on already.

We got him all set up
for some newborn pictures
and BigBoyE was
watching to make sure
they treated
BabyC right.
I will have to show you
those pictures later....
I don't have a way to scan them in here.

Back at home~our BabyC
has already discovered a way
to soothe himself.
His thumb!
He already found his thumb!
Can you believe it?
BigBoyE thinks THAT is
pretty funny..
cuz he is a bit of a thunb sucker, too.
Hmmm..wonder if BabyC had
a little "help" finding his thumb?
Cuz he doesn't look any too happy
about finding it if you ask me!
Well, I guess it is better than
hitting the Bailey's Irish Cream
if you know what I mean.
Which reminds me...
I have to go now~

Hurry Up There Sister!

Only through the eyes of a child
do we sometimes see
the bigger picture of life.

SweetCheeks was dawdling over
her crackers  and cheese "treat".
I said~
"Hurry up there, sister!"
Whereupon she looked at me~
I ahm NOTT youh sistehr
I ahm youhr granddawter.
But in GOD'S eyes I ahm youhr sistehr though!
You are?
Yep!  God sayhs we are AHLL sistehrs.

Now I ask you- How DOES a 4 year old
KNOW this stuff?

Papa piped in.
Well, then am I your brother?
In GOD'S eyes youhr my brothehr.
I am?
Yep!
What am I in your eyes?

Giving him the sideways look
she promptly replied.
A Gorilla!

Gotta love THAT kid's sense of humor.

MyHero is still scratching his head!

A Girl Named Tete-A Short SweetCheeks Video

Many of you know my friend,
Tete.
She has a blog called
She is a wonderful, warm,
loving person.

The other day
SweetCheeks asked me
about her name.
Here is the short conversation
that ensued.

Are you smiling yet, Tete?

WHERE IS THE BABY?

Now I suppose because you know
that we have a
New Grandbaby
that I am talking about
THAT baby, right?

Nope!
I am talking about
SweetCheeks Bitty Baby.
She had one of the twins.
It looked a lot like her..
dark hair and sweet little
chubby cheeks.

I made a whole suitcase
of clothes for this baby.
And now it seems it has
gone missing.
Where IS your twin, SweetCheeks?
I dunno!
Is it in the basement?
No.....
Is it in your room?
Noo...
Is it in your toy basket in the family room?
Nooo Nana!  I telled you I dohn't know
where it is.

We sit in silence for a minute or so.
Nana?
Yes, honey?
I knhow where it is and Ih'll
tell you, okay?
Okay!
You know my Mom?
Yeah?
Well, she taked it in the woods
where the deers hide and lefted it there.
She did?
Yeah...I know so and guess what?
WE cahn't go in there because
there are NO DEER signs
that sumbudy putted up.
Really? (asked rather disbelievingly)
SerioUSly, Nana!  Thass whut happened!
(Notice how the head is now turned down
and away from my piercing glance?;>)
An hour later we were sitting at
Starbucks with Mama and Uncle Ryan.
So, I mention casually to Mama,
I hear you put SweetCheeks doll
out in the woods with the deer.
As soon as I said that
SweetCheeks stuffed her mouth
full so she couldn't answer any
questions.
REALLY?  Mom asked...Where
did you hear that?
SweetCheeks told me.

SweetCheeks swallowed her mouthful
Ummmm..I think I makeked a mistake.
Uh...yeah...I think you did!
To punish - or not to punish-

(Does it count as a YES if everyone turns
their head to the side when they laugh
so that SweetCheeks doesn't see it)?

Winner-Winner-Baby Contest-Winner-Winner

First of all, I want to say
THANK YOU
to everyone that took the time
to leave a comment about
the new baby.
My daughter, in particular,
was really thrilled.
I just feel blessed!
Blessed to have so many wonderful
readers that comment.
You guys are ALL awesome.
I wish I could send you all
something for even taking the time
to guess.
But- I can't`

So-On to the winner!
Someone came pretty close
with their guessing.
It came down to a matter
of time!

So...who won?
Let's review-
Charles In Charge
aka
Charles Russell
was born
11/15/11
@
1:00 pm
He weighed in at a whopping
10 pounds 3 oz.
You will notice that BabyE
is still trying to figure him out.
You will further notice that
Charles In Charge's head
is ALMOST as big
as the head belonging to
 Baby E!;>)

Anyway~
Back to the the contest~
The closest guess was
submitted by:
Patty from

She guessed:
11/15/11
@
11:22 am
9# 2 oz.

Patty, if you send me your
address I will get a little
something off to you in the mail.
Thanks to everyone that entered.
Mom and baby are doing fine.
Mom is staying an extra day
and is pretty sore.
One more day of
pampering sure won't hurt her.
I can't wait to get her home
in her own bed to shower
her and Baby Boy
with attention and
affection!
But blogwise...
Tomorrow it will be business
as usual around here!

Introducing Charles In Charge

Warning-Picture Overload!

Well, They Did It Now!

They induced labor at about
11am and labor started
progressing pretty quickly.
There was a problem though
so they rushed into an emergency
C-Section.
We were all on pins and needles for
an hour until my son-in-law
could rush out to tell
us that we had a new
BABY BOY in the family.

Let me tell you,
Our newest  famlly member is a bruiser.
I'm kind of glad it's not a girl.
Can you imagine going to
school  when they have you
tell all about yourself as
a baby?
Hi..My name is Cindasissie and
I weighed 10# 3oz when I was born!
HUH? WHAT?

Well, our not-so-little guy
is going to be nicknamed by me.
I am going to call him
Charles-In-Charge.
(Wasn't that an old 80's TV show)?

Enough blabbing..
Here is BabyE meeting
Chunky Charlie for the first time.
He decided he like him well enough
to give him a
Welcome-To-My-Family kiss.
My son-in-law's parents drove all
the way from
Kansas City, MO
for the event.
Hey!  Where is my Kansas City BBQ
you guys are always bragging about?
Here's Gramma holding
The Bruiser.
And Grammpa taking his turn.
Maybe he can wear your hat, Gramps,
cuz none of those cute little
newborn hats are gonna fit him.
My daughter looks tired, but happy,
doesn't she?
Auntie TPot was there for
every bit of the excitment.
And Uncle MamasBoy came after
work with his wife.
(Umm...that is NOT his wife-that is the baby)

Papa showed up late because he was
working all day and had to
drive 100 miles after work.
Hmmm..His hair looks a bit like Papas
if you look at the side hair line.

At the end of the day we took one
last picture of the new little family
and headed home to put
BabyE to bed.
It was a good day.
A long day.
A kinda scary day.
But, in the end,
A Blessed Day!

I will post the contest
winner tomorrow..
after I have a chance to
review the guesses!

I am off-
To STARBUCKS
and the hospital!

Thank you ALL so much for
all your wonderful wishes!
I love you guys!
Girls...whatever~

the hospital.

We got it!

but I will tell you this...

We had an emergency C-Section
and baby weighed
OVER 10 POUNDS
AND
It's a boy!
Charles Russell...
(after my Dad, her hubby's
granddad (Charles)
and my hubby's grandmother's
last name.

Tomorrow I will figure
out
who won the contest.

We are blessed.
Mom and Baby
are both well.

A Poem For Ria

My daughter, TPot, wrote this
for our little Ria when
she was just two or three years old.
It is so easy to get "left out" when
you are the middle child.
You are overshadowed by the older sibiling
and out-cuted by the younger one.
So...

I thought you might enjoy
this tribute-
to Ria- the middle child

A Mother's Letter To Her Child
Here she is-still in Mama's tummy
and being loved on by big sissy, Lulu.

Ria’s Poem

Little wonder, curls galore
Crawling ‘round the nursery floor.
Sippy cup just out of reach
Pull yourself up on dimpled feet.
Big round eyes, enchanting blue
Discovering all that seems so new
Big sister chasing you…delight.
Shoo Fly Shoo! You scream with fright.
Soapy hands wash your cheeks
Full of food, it seems for weeks.
“Monster Laugh” makes everyone smile
You keep on doing it for awhile.

The kitchen floor, your favorite spot.
To bang, and sing and play with pots.
On with the tutu’s, Christmas lights
Finally! Sleeping through the night.
Thumb in your mouth, while you rub your nose
Sweet puckered lips, color of a rose.
“What a beautiful child!” (Even strangers say)
We seem to hear most every day.

“She’s going to be a charmer!” Boys Beware!
Daddy will protect her, he’s not afraid to scare.
His gun collection will move to the front hall
And will show off proudly to the boys who call.

Time passes so quickly, it never stops ticking away
You keep getting bigger, but on my lap you still lay.
Only moments ago, you were just a baby.
Can we have you a little longer, please? Maybe?
You’ve grown so fast, time won’t slow
Stay our baby-girl, don’t be quick to grow.
A love so deep we have to show
A love only your parents can know.

As you start to grace the world with the light you carry,
(Even though you still believe in magic and fairies)
We can’t wait to share the secret we have always held dear
That we are raising a child, beautiful beyond a mirror.

May the faith you have and the God you know
Care for you and hold you close as to a woman you grow.
Through the ups and downs of little girl, woman and teen
And all those times that fall in between.

You have brought such a joy and love to our place,
Bringing laughter, hugs, giggles, music and smiles to our face.
As you start to venture out into this world,
You will still always be our little girl.

A CAN YOU GUESS CONTEST...ENTER QUICKLY!

Okay-
Here's the deal!
Today my oldest daughter, TPot,
(SweetCheeks Mom)
and I are headed to
Milwaukee.

Tomorrow morning
the Doctor is going to
induce my youngest daughter,
Mimi.
(BabyE's Mom)
Maybe I'll bring a cake!
Yeah?  You ask...So What?
Well....
How about you do your best guess
as to SEX/DATE/ TIME of birth
If you guess the weight, too,
that will be for a bonus prize.

I will even give you a few clues.
With BabyE she went over her
due date by about a week.
He weighed ALMOST 10#s (9#/14oz).
Her labor started Wednesday morning
and he was born Friday late afternoon.
A long labor----but because she is healthy
and the baby showed no
signs of distress they did
not do a C-Section.
She just took a long time birthing.

So....NOONE knows
if this baby is a boy or girl
(including Mom-to-be)
There! Now you are armed with a few
facts.
I don't know WHAT the prize will be
but it will be SOMETHING special.
So...you have between now and the
time of delivery to make your guess(es).
I can't wait to see some little..
Cuz we can put them in these...
To win--
You must be a follower of this blog.
You must guess..
Date/Time of Birth/Sex

AND for a bonus prize
you can hazard a guess at
the weight...in case there is a tie..
the closest weight will
determine the winner.

Welllll-what are you waiting for?
GUESS already!

Oh The Places We Find...

MyHero and I love to take drives.
We drive near.
We drive far.
Sometimes we even remember
where we went.
This is NOT one of those places.

I cannot, for the life of me,
remember the name of the
little town we stopped in
when we found this cute
little coffee shop.
It was a forced detour
off the main road...
but look how cute this place is.
It sat right at the top of a
small water fall.
Not only do they serve this
wonderful product~
I found several fun little things
that filled the shop walls
and shelves.
I HAD to have this!
The girl that was behind the sales counter
assured me that this was the work
of a wonderful local artistian..
I was REALLY surprised
when I got to the car and turned it over
and discovered
THIS TAG
on the back.
Wow!  I went overseas and
never even needed my passport.
I hardly knew I had passed out
of the country!

As we moved along with our day
I need to find one (or several)
of these places.
This gave MyHero an opportunity
to do something he loves...
rock picking..
Look how happy this BigBoy is!
A few moments later I noticed
he was in distress.
Whatever is the matter?  I wanted to know...
My pant leg has fallen and if
I bend over to fix it the weight of
the rocks will take me to the ground!
Soooo sad.......
Don't pull your hair out, honey!

God Bless Our Veterans Today And EveryDay

I am ashamed that I don't
always think about what the cost
is for my freedom.

I don't always think about
the person that laid
down their life so that
I can enjoy the freedoms
this country allows.

I don't always think about
the day-to-day struggles that
some of our veterans must deal with...
the physical, emotional, spiritual end
of it.

I do think about my Father,
a vet of WWI (yes-WWI)-
He was a young man in the service
and an old man when I was born (53).

I do think about my Uncle Samuel,
that fought in the Korean War~
but I don't ever remember him
mentioning it.

I do think about my foster brother, Gene,
that was part of the war in Vietnam...
the war that wasn't a war,
or so they say.

I do think about my nephew, Scott,
that suffered permanent damage
when he was fired on as
he was guarded one of
Sadam's palaces.

I do think about Jordan, a relative
of Marcia's over at
BlessedMom's simple home.
You can catch the update here
A man who has given more than
most of us can imagine.
And, I do think about a man
that has a blog...one
that I met in my blog travels...
you know when you hit that
Next Blog button on the top..
This is a man that gave it all
for his country...
and is now but a shadow
of his former self, on the outside..
Inside- he is a fighter of the
greatest magnitude.
He lives a hard life but asks
for no pity or sympathy.
Let's just say his blog ain't purty..
but it is gritty and real.

Today, I hope  to
raise a salute to every man or woman
that fights for all of us.
God Bless Our Veterans
and those that are serving
our country today.

Without you- we have no hope.

Fall Tables CAN Be Fun- Or Funny- You Decide~

I've been thinking about
Fall centerpieces.
I am not quite ready to
hop on the
Christmas Train yet,
are you?

So, as I was thinking about
Thanksgiving coming up
I got my copy of
My heart always beats a
bit faster when I get
my copy.
I can't wait to have a few
minutes to sit down
and devour it.

I love the front Fall entry
to this house.
And, while I love to see
the outside all prettied up for
Thanksgiving,
I am thinking about
flowers for the table today.
I love the rustic look
of this old piece filled with
all the colors of Fall.
Or, how about a pumpkin filled
with the sweet scents of Autumn?
Or...maybe this....
Another looser arrangement
to brighten the table.
I love the natural elements of this one.
And I can see these off to the
side adorning a kitchen counter.
Aren't these CUTE?

  I think they would
be darling on a
Kid's Table.
Do you have a kid's table
for Thanksgiving?
I love a kid's table..
snugged right up to the main table.
bing image

AND...wouldn't the kids love this one?
Ummm...imagine what THAT looks like
after the fish do
their "thing"..unh-huh...
Losing your appetite thinking about it?

I don't know about this one...
Looks like there's not much
room for plates..
and I think there might be deer
under the table waiting
for their antlers!
They never thought when they
left them behind that someone
would pick them up and
use them for decorating!
They are on the move now
that it is hunting season.
They want to run
before SOMEONE decides
that they want their TAILS,
as well as their antlers!
(notice how they have their tails tucked?)
And, if I told MyHero
once I told him a thousand times.
DO NOT WEAR THESE WITH
YOUR BROWN COAT
when you go walking in the woods.

It could give a whole new meaning
to the term
"hunting widow"
yeah....
