Still working with Ruth
getting the house ready to sell.
Tom & Ruth spent every
getting the house ready to sell.
Tom & Ruth spent every
Christmas with us save
2 or 3 since the day we met.
They loved our kids like
their own and treated them
like family.
One of our best traditions
was always Christmas Dinner
at our house.
I always set the table with
the set of family given
Spode Christmas Tree china.
I never realized that Ruth
had china that matched.
Anyway, as we are packing
things up she said-
I have a gift for you!
It's not TOM, is it? I asked!
We both snickered.
Instead she led me to a
cabinet filled with pieces of this!
She is giving me some pieces
I have never seen before!
WhooooHooooo!
Just call me LUCKY!!!
AND she has a whole set of her
Grandmother's blue Spode that we
are going to use for staging.
I'll show you the whole ball of wax
when we get it staged.
Meanwhile, I am out of town
today but will be around
late tomorrow.
I promise to visit when and as I can-
so don't give up on me just yet.
At least you know I talked my
way out of the trunk.
You can see that story here.

What a lucky girl and What lovely Christmas china. I've always loved the way you dress your table for Christmas. I look forward to seeing the rest. Joan
I have the spode dinner plates, but I LOVE THAT MUG!!! Never seen it before...
Diana, I am sure Ruth think of her china still in the family, since she's giving it to you. What a great gift. You are going to miss a sweet friend like her. Don't you girls work too hard. xoxo,Susie
What a lovely gift! I adore my Christmas china, so understand what it means to have someone share theirs. Loved your question when she said she had a gift for you :)
Jealous of the Spode Diana!
Can't wait to see the blue staged.
Have fun this weekend,
Cindy
How special! I know you will treasure these pieces.
What a great gift! They will forever be in your hearts if they are not at your table! Have a wonderful weekend!
That is awesome! That was a lovely gift to give, and it has special meaning too!
You are one lucky girl! It's always nice to add new pieces to your china. I love the mug!
The china is lovely! You have a very sweet friend!
Hi Diana, What a wonderful gift to receive from Ruth. The spode is gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing the final staging. I know you are having a great time going through everything. Ruth and Tom are blessed to have you help them and I know you are receiving a great blessing too. Not by the material gifts, but the friendship and time spent together preparing for their move.
Thank you for stopping by my post WBC and your kind comment.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Celestina Marie
Love Spode Christmas dishes! They remind of my MUCH less expensive Pfaltzgraff Christmas dishes that I started collecting when I was just 18 and still living at home!
Can't wait to see the finished product!
Can I say lucky? Oh, I love these Christmas dishes and how nice you will have more pieces! I'm waiting for the staging! Yay!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
How sweet to have pieces of her Spode, she will still be with you on Christmas in a way.
Oh you lucky girl...
We had those dishes when I was growing up.
And the blue, delightful.

You are a lucky girl and a wonderful friend and as you write I get sad that she's going away from been your neighbor and almost family. Now you won't have them for C'mas dinner, I guess. I loce the Spode tree china, it's a classic. I adore the blue too. You will always have this things to remember her come the hollidays. I am blue too, now. Big hugs,
FABBY
Oh I love that Christmas china pattern! My SIL has that same pattern too. I love the mugs with the striped handles! I haven't seen those before either. Too cute!
You are one lucky gal! The Christmas Tree pattern is a classic!
Have a safe and fun time out of town!
XO,
Jane
Wonderful wonderful gifts....sooo pretty.
I didn't realize you were moving. I've not hung on my computer too much lately.
We are having a hard time selling and some of the realtors are saying it is our olden neighborhood. There's 3 houses on the block that have ruined this neighborhood....and all 3 are at the end of the block where OUR house is. We feel so helpless...
a couple would have bought it except they didn't like the looks of the block. We should have moved 10 yrs ago...can see we are going to have to drop our price drastically and we are sick about it. bwaaaaaaa.....send chocolate...
I would be going crazy there. I'd want to buy everything! My mom worked in a china department for years and she collected a few of the Spode Christmas pieces, I may have a few...I should go look.
That's so lovely of her to gift you with the Christmas set that will always be a reminder of your dinners together. Oh, the blue Spode! Can you sneak it out of the house?
Is she selling that beautiful bedding?
How generous of her to gift you with more pieces of your classic Christmas China. I hope she will be able to join you for another Christmas in the near future.
That was such a special gift.. I know you will treasure it.
Oh Diana how sweet you will get Ruth's Spode. That will make Christmas even more special to have new pieces to add to yours. I hope Ruth and her hubby will come to visit at Christmas to keep your tradition going. I can't wait to see this home staged.
Kris
Hi Diana! How sweet of Ruth to give you her Spode collection! It just goes to show you how much your friendship means to her! Yo are such a kind hearted person! Enjoy! Hugs, Leena
Yes! You certainly are a lucky girl! Plus, you have all those wonderful memories of the Christmases you have spent with these wonderful friends!
I've been away a short while myself, and will ease back into my blog rounds.
xo Nellie
Funny, funny, funny! Never a dull moment with you! So the two of you snickered, eh, when you asked if it was Tom?! Hope Tom doesn't read this. Seriously, though, I think it's beautiful that the two have kept your friendship going for so long.
I can't wait to see the house after you two get it all "staged"!!! Have fun with your precious friend...hugs, Penny
What a great friend you are and a lucky one too, that is gorgeous china!!! Girlfriend, we will never give up on you!
Carol
Now whenever you use the Spode you will think of your dear friends!
I can't wait to see Ruth's home when you're done staging it. You have a lot of nice items to work with!
I do love your dishes Diana, but I have to say that the word Christmas scares me at the moment!! I'm not quite over summer yet :)
Wow! What a great gift :) I love that set of Christmas dishes. Makes me want to break out into "Blue Christmas" Johnny Mathis style!
MY mother in law just gave my daughter all of her christmas china, which my daughter didnt really want, so I have it packed away. not sure its the same, now I need to go check to see if it is. I know it has christmas trees on it.
have fun with your friend!
xoxo

What a lucky girl you are!! The Spode is beautiful and I love the cup with the candy cane handle!
OK, I think I am finally caught up on all that's been going on while I was unplugged for the week! That is so fun that you get to help stage their home for the sale. It's like playing with a very large dollhouse.
Love it all. So glad you got some really fun stuff to go with your beloved set.
WOW! It's going to be beautiful! When someone came to look at the farm, they had to climb over ladders (painters were here), go 'round boxes (packing although don't have a seller yet) and it was chaos! But, the guy had vision and said he was going to make me an offer; now am praying we can come to an agreement.
All that to say, no staging here but God is faithful so am praying and hoping for the best.
Diana, do you post everyday....Yikes, I can't keep up! The Christmas China is so pretty, and I am in love with that Christmas mug. I would love to just sip on some hot chocolate and come over and visit your blog everyday. I can hardly wait to see the staged house. One of my favorite things to do is go into the model homes and get ideas. It's so much fun.
Have a great week, Diana.
Love,
~Sheri
Sooo fun. Merry Christmas!
you lucky girl! isn't staging fun?:)
I love the spode Christmas china. So, do WE do Christmas dinner on Christmas or Christmas Eve? I've got to plan ahead....and I KNOW you have enough place settings now. :)
XOXO
I never tire of Spode Christmas Tree. It says Christmas to me, not that I don't admire other patterns too. And Grandmother's blue Spode? I hope they are to be kept. Treasures.
I have the same Spode Christmas china. Love it!
