No Rest For The Rest Of Your Life

Well, first off, as a
follow up to yesterday...
How do you spell
relief?
REST STOP
Otherwise known in these parts as
OUTHOUSE.

But THAT is not the REST I
am talking about in my heading...
No, indeedy....We are moving right along now..

MyHero loves it up here in
The UP
(Upper Peninsula of Michigan).

It might be the pasties..

(the ones you eat-not the naughty ones)
Or-My Hero might love it here
because it is close to
Lake Superior and surrounded
by water with a great big bridge
that goes over the channel that
separates Houghton and Hancock.
But the one thing that fascinates him
is this
OLD AGE HOME/Assisted Living place~
The Bluffs!
......seriously.....
He swears this is where he wants
to spend his days if his
"mind goes".
I always wonder where it's going anyway!

It is perched on top of a hill,
and I will say that it is a beautiful place.
He loves that you can see for miles.
and miles
He has told this wish to me
AND to our kids.

Our youngest son, MamasBoy,
-being the character he is-
(imagine ME having a
character in MY family!;>)
has taken this in stride.

He called me the other day
with plans for
DAD
when DAD has to
go into
"that place up there".

He figures that he will hire a local
(work is scarce up here)
to go in
EVERYDAY
with balloons and yell
SURPRISE!
That person will deliver a check for
Yes-ONE MILLION DOLLARS-
This will happen
EVERYDAY
 about 10 AM.

He figures that by 10 AM
DAD will be up, dressed,
and most probably will have
remembered his name.

So...this delivery person will
tell DAD that he
has won not only
A MILLION DOLLARS
but a yatch.
DAD
will be so excited he will call
and invite
MamasBoy to come up
and see it!

MamasBoy will say.
"I'll be right up, Dad"
and hang up the phone.

DAD will then take a nap
and forget all about it.

And everyday will be
Groundhog Day for
MyHero!

And - you know what they say
about men in those homes..
there are 4 women for every man
and they are all looking for a boyfriend.

I'm not sure but I think I see four now-
out front-
waiting......

Ha! And he thought I was a witch?
your photo name

Good Morning Diana,
You are making me laugh this morning. I have never known of anyone being anxious to go to a nursing home, but hey one that looks that good just might be okay. Especially with the view!

And to know that you win a million dollars everyday but can't spend it would make Mr. Sissie really happy! LOL!

hugs
Sissie

Those are just beautiful photos of Michigan! That would definately be a great place to go to relax and enjoy retirement. The last time we moved (to downsize) we said our next move would be the nursing home or the funeral home...moving is one of my least favorite things to do.

Too funny. Hope he never looses his memory as it's so hard for your family.
Glad you found my post. I think it's Goose's expressions that remind me of your S.C. She was rolling those eyes at me about all the pictures. Her Mama is always taking pictures of her. She is definetly our version of your S.C. I met someone at the park. When we were talking we realized her son was in the same K. class as Goose. She said she loved my Goose and she had helped her little boy when he was so sad. She told him to hold his Mama's kisses in his closed hand and he would have them to remind him of her all day. She is so sweet. (HUGS)

How funny. That would be a nice retirement home though. As long as you don't go rolling down the hill too often in your walker.

Hi Diana,
I have to tell you that my dad was sick many years ago and needed constant care before he died. He had a friend who was a prominent dr. who came to visit him. Both the friend and my dad had Altzeimer's. So, the dr. (who was very prim and proper leaned over to my dad and said, "Come on, Jim, let's bust out of this place!" We were all so shocked. He was always such a gentlemen, but all of a sudden, he sounded like "one of the good o'l boys." We couldn't believe it!
