We have a small group of ruffle lovers here but a couple of them are kind of naughty!

 I am warning them now to be on their best behavior.

This group loves the gold and, I hate to say it,

but there are a couple of REALLY naughty ones at this table.

#3-LOVE THOSE LIGHTS

Well, so many of you LOVED THOSE LIGHTS 

that I had to 

move this venue to a barn so some of you will be 

sitting on bales of hay...just sayin'..

 I think---the greens are so lovely, the centerpiece is low, there are just enough places for good conversation, and you know I love me some lights twinkling---my imagination will have those woods full of fireflies, as we dance in white draperies on that soft lawn to old Glenn Miller and a little bit of Queen. And there's just the daintiest little glimpse of PINK there down the table---that settles it right there. Good company, good music, a gentle evening and watching folks you love start a whole new life together. You DO plan the nicest parties!

#4-BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR

How I love all you complainers about bringing your own chair...Come'on!

MA/Pam, Linda C, Kim-but insists on sitting in a blue upholstered chair...yep...one in every crowd!

Ginny, Melanie, Jean/bj--wants a huge margarita and Sam Elliott.  If she ever saw him in person she would faint dead away...oh...maybe she's hoping for mouth-to-mouth to revive?

#6- FRANKLY LOVING FERNS

#7- COURTLY COURTYARD

Pam K-Likes the comfy chairs, Kathy S, Denise-says she will bring a gift or wine but will not bring a chair so #4 is not for her!

THANK YOU for bearing with me. Hubby has not been doing well and I sometimes feel like I am living in limbo.  Day-by-day.  I am so glad to have my naughty little boy for company! As you can see-he LOVES PAPER-and pencils!

A PRAYER REQUEST FOR A BLOGGER'S HUSBAND

 I haven't done a 

Prayer Request 

in a long time.

My friend, Gay Van Beek,

has a blog called 

Canterbury Cottage Designs

Gay recently reached out

to ask for prayers for her

handsome husband,

John Van Beek.

             John has Stage 4 Bladder Cancer

that has metastasized.

Surgery and chemo are part

of the plan of attack.

I think the worst part is how helpless

you feel with that type of diagnosis.

However, I am a firm believer in

miracles and healing.

Please lift John and Gay

and their family in prayer

as they walk this path.

If you are not a pray-er,

please send them well-wishes

and positive thoughts for healing.

I DO believe #5 would be my choice, though I've never been a sunflower or daisy person---it's just that all the red checks and blue napkins and little jam jars with their topknots fresh from the canning kitchen all look as if they could have come out of one of those Massachusetts/Maine baskets ready for a picnic. You know, the wide, lavish ones with the colorful cloths top and bottom of a warm berry pie with stars in the crust, whether it's the Fourth or not---something about a New England Summer picnic that's so fresh and crisp and bright, and not like the dumpy old everyday Colemans and Igloos of my Southern raising, slid into pickup beds with tools and quilts and an ole dog to head for the lake, and Cuzn BobbyRay already there with a big bag of Kingsford and Marvella's famous Duke's potato salad.

And the table! The colors---and cupcakes! Nibbles! Jam! That one looks like you turned me loose at it already, throwing all sorts of homemade goodies around with a careless hand. Yep. #5

MEMORIAL DAY MEMORIES-GOD BLESS OUR SERVICE PEOPLE

 I wrote this for Memorial Day 

several years ago

but I post it here every year.

This means even more to me after I

volunteered at the VA Center here

before Covid hit. 

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is here once more,

We fly the flags above our door,

We plant our flowers that mark the grave,

Of every soldier that was so brave,

They fought for freedom for everyone,

Many lives snuffed out by a sniper's gun.

We proudly march in our little bands,

As daybreak filters across our lands,

But I wonder if we can truly see,

What cost it was to make us free.

Confederate soldiers fought the Yanks,

Some brothers fought brothers in those ranks,

To free the downtrodden that were lost,

To free all men at any cost.

My father was a medic in World War One,

A war not talked about by anyone,

Some men lost limbs and some were gassed,

Some picked up by comrades,

 others  bypassed.

World War II! How tragic indeed,

People standing by watching others bleed.

Souls thrown to the winds with no remorse,

Foreign government standing on their 

own course.

Vietnam was not a war they said,

Then why did so many soldiers end up 

dead?

No heroes welcome for them in sight,

They slunk home in the dead of night.

Should I go on-with Korea & Desert Storm?

Iran? Afghanistan? Are you getting warm?

Do you feel the pain you see in their face?

Does it make you squirm in your warm, safe 

place?

I've just one more thing I'd like to say,

It's about celebrating Memorial Day,

Look around and everything you see,

Was paid out in blood so that we are free.

Put your hand on your heart,

For the blue, white and red,

Raise your eyes to the flag,

Say a prayer for the dead.

Because of a soldier I can have my say,

So ~God Bless you this Memorial Day~
