I had the sweet job
of babysitting for CJK the last night
of March.
He slept over while Mom & Dad
went out of town.
Nope-doesn't bother him at all to sleep in a
"girly bed".  lol
Guess what!!!!????
The next morning was

Actual conversation:
Nana- Come on CJK. Let's play a trick on Papa.
CJK:  OK- What kind of trick?
Nana: Come on- I'll show you.
We go downstairs to the little kitchenette
where Papa prepares his special foods
that he has eaten since he got cancer.
CJK:  What are we gonna do?
Nana:  We are going to tape down the SPRAYER on the kitchen faucet. That way when Papa turns the faucet on he will get sprayed.
(someone else's image using rubber bands)

I proceeded to show him how that worked
by turning just a tiny bit of water on.
Even that little bit of water soaked the floor.
He was overjoyed.
This was going to be the

Nana:  CJK-Don't say a word to Papa.  It's a secret. OK?
CJK:  I know, Nana!!!  I won't tell him cuz it's a secret, right?
Nana:  Right!
We head back upstairs where
Papa is watching the news.
I sit down.
CJK stands DIRECTLY in front of Papa,
grinning like a Irish elf.
Then opens his mouth and laughs.
Papa:  What are you laughing about?
          CJK:  Nothing.
(10 second pause- as CJK continues to stare and grin.)
Papa:  What's so funny?
CJK: Nothing. Hey, Papa-why don't you go downstairs and get sprayed?!!!

Papa gives me the hairy eyeball.
Papa: Thank you, CJK!!!
I give CJK the "you little traitor" eyeball!

Should I tell you that even being
forewarned he got sprayed a bit
before it 'hit him'?

Well, at least I didn't have such a
big 'clean up' this year.

Here's the funny thing.
I have done this every year since we
have been married---like 40 years.
He NEVER remembers!
And- he always BRAGS that--
"She got me AGAIN"...
like that is something to brag about--

CJK is NOT invited back for
He can play the trick at his own house!
The Little Blabbermouth!

I'll be back later in the day-
I am off to the Va this morning for the 6am shift.
Love those guys.
Love y'all, too.
Have a GREAT Tuesday!

LOL...just like I said how many times can a person fall for the same joke.....well I hope it's many more for you two. :):):) Have fun at work. Hug the boys. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

LOL I never did like April Fools joke. Does anyone know how that got started anyway?
Have a good day pushing around all those men! We women are good at that!

LOL! Kids are like that. Can't keep their mouths shut. I think it's a riot that your hubby doesn't remember from year to year. You are too much!

Liz@ Infuse With Liz said...

How funny that he couldn't keep the secret! Funny too is your husband's surprise each year that you play this prank on him!

Have fun at the VA!!! Please don't rubber band anything down at the VA :)

Nonnie said...

I think Papa likes it and likes that you spray him with attention and love.

Karen said...

That sounds about right for four-year-olds. LOL I was the one in our family that could never keep a secret when I was little.

Lisa @ Texas Decor said...

I'm cracking up that you've done this every year for 40 years and he never remembers! Such a fun little trick. I love it!

Too precious, out of the mouths of babes. xo

You may have had your ups and downs in life, but still full of humor. It is wonderful you can do this. No doubt the fellows at the VA look forward to your day.

HaHa, you crack me up! I can never think of the perfect trick to pull on Cliff. Actually, I'm scared of the ramifications. Lol!! He's a very good prankster.

I tried to do that to my brother, he left, and I forgot it was on. So my mother's boyfriend got sprayed on accident and he thought it was my brother that did it.

Nana's is the fun place to go! Love it, Diana. Have a nice afternoon. ♥

Ha! I love it. I had a blabbermouth who would go Christmas shopping for daddy with me. I would tell her it was a secret and she would nod in understanding. Then she would march in the house and say, "Daddy, I have a secret. We bought you slippers, but don't tell." Good job. ;-)

Linda said...

Hahaha! You are too funny! But...you should not involve the Littles in your devious plans! Hahaha! Just kidding...keep up the good work!
Enjoy your week...

Proving that most of the fun is the anticipation! My sister gave her first husband the very same birthday card from about year 5 to 18. He never noticed. Men!

Oh I would have had to do a trick on blabber mouth after that. Hahaha.
Next year, put seran wrap over the toilet bowl, tight so he cant see it. Always a fun one.

Oh how funny. You should know by now that the kids can't keep a secret. LOL You would think that John would know by now that you are going to play that trick on him.

Have a great day.

Leave it to a little kid to ruin everything!!! It's so funny how they are clueless about such things. It is endearing though :-)

They did not have faucets in our homes that were like that so I never got to play that trick, but in one of our homes a friend was visiting us and he did that to me! It was not even April Fools day!
