I told you a few posts ago that when
the girls stay here I try to use the
FANCY DINING ROOM
at least once in a while.
Well, it is now our new
TRADITION
that if they stay the night we have
a nice meal with "formal" place settings.
You remember my table from here?
I used my red transferware for the
girls' special dinner of salad
and homemade spaghetti and meatballs-
a family favorite.
The flowers were gone but I had another
large candle that I used centerstage.
The girls always have fun waiting for dinner.
I took several shots of them chit-chatting together.
We have lots of SMILES and laughs
at our table.
But sometimes it is nice to get a picture
of them that is just a tad "calm" feeling!
A picture of smiles rather than laughter.
NOW for the picture that will make
YOU SMILE.
This is the one that TAKES THE PRIZE.
I said,
Girls, give me just ONE SMILE
where you aren't showing
YOUR TEETH!
Can you GUESS which one is
LITERAL LULU?
Here's the KICKER-She
WAS NOT TRYING TO BE FUNNY!
Here's the KICKER-She
WAS NOT TRYING TO BE FUNNY!
I'll be around today if I can find a bit of
sanity in a corner somewhere.
Have a blessed Sunday!

You're so wonderful and the girls are just so cute! Love how you spoil them. The first shot reminded me of Downton Abbey! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
What a sweet thing to do! Aww, your girls are just too cute and oh so funny! Don't you just love it when they crack you up? Think they have a tad bit of their Nana's humor!
Have a great day and I can picture you in a corner...somewhere!

I love the idea of breaking out the pretty dishware and eating in the formal dining room with your girls...how special that must make them feel. Grown up too! The table in the first picture is beautiful and red transferware is one of my favorites. So perfect for serving spaghetti and meatballs. You rock Nana Diana!
Enjoy a nice quiet Sunday!
XO Barbara
what a sweet and memorable idea to let them dine "fancy". After all..they are. have a great weekend in your corner or wherever you end up!:)
This is such a nice idea to set a pretty table in the dining room for the family. Are they also learning how to set the table? it is so good to see children conversing amicably not that I'd know anything about children who don't. =/
Oh what CUTIES! And FUNNY too! (Just like Nana!) I love how your little ladies are getting used to the "princess treatment" at grandma's...and all the fun you are having with them at "the grown-up table!"
You're right....smiles all around blogland today! Enjoy your Sunday my friend and your sweet and happy family! Hugs!
I love that you and your girls are spending some special times around your dining room table-- that is a tradition that is becoming forgotten in today's busy lives. Your girls are so beautiful-- I can only imagine all the good times you have with them:)
Vicki
These are such special moments with your precious grand-daughters. Thanks for sharing their sense of humor. And thanks for your kind comments on my blog. Linda@Wetcreek Blog
I love that you have fancy dinners with them!
One of my fondest memories is when my mother did exactly what you are doing with your granddaughters. They will forever remember these special times. Made me smile indeed! What a special Nana you are!
What a wonderful idea, the fancy table for those precious granddaughters.
I love that picture!!! I thought of the three little monkeys...see no evil...do no evil....I don't know why I thought of that...lol! Hugs, Penny
Wow, the gorgeous princess in a regal table setting by their elegant grammy! I love the photo of the three of them in small conversation by themselves...how happy they are, God bless them always. My two Little girls are here, and will stay for 2 weeks vacation.
Enjoy the rest of weekend.

What a great idea. The girls will so remember all the little extras you do for them. Love the last picture.
What a lovely tradition, you have..... One really "fancy" dinner, when they stay. :-) Oh these "Grands" are so lucky to have you, for a Nana!!!!!!!
Now as to the requested smile..... The one with the hair bow, the one in the middle, the "middle" child I think........... What a perfectly lovely smile. !!!!!!!!! What a gorgeous young lady, she is going to grow up to be. -happy sigh- Please have her read this comment, or tell her...
Gentle hugs,
Tessa~
(Another 'Nana,' of 6)
Diana, I like that tradition. This will always be a wonderful memory for the girls . I laugh at how kids take things we say. I know you will show that photo to Lulu when she's bit older. :):) Are you digging out yet? be safe. xoxo,Susie
What fun memories your grands will have staying at your house. My grandmother used to let us pick out a fancy tea cup for our morning hot chocolate. It's those traditions that bring years and years of smiles. Enjoy your Sunday.
I love that you set a formal table for them! I need to remember that. It is always nice for youngsters to learn proper table manners, and much easier to do it at home rather than out in public the first couple times!! The girls are hysterical. That would have been my two.
I love your tradition of eating at a formal setting with the girls, Diana! I know they will treasure those memories for years to come! Sounds like Lulu gets her literal-ness (is that a word??) from her Grandpa!!! How funny:)
Diana,
This is so sweet. It made me smile. Thanks for the smiles today.
Kris
Oh, I love these memories that you're creating with your 'girls'! That's so special-and that pic is priceless! :)

Good Morning Diana, It is so much fun to watch the family grow up. They keep us busy and give us other things to think about. We have the bitter cold today and snow, but not as much as they were predicting. They have bladed my street this morning, but I am staying home where it is warm. It was so cold yesterday. Hope you have a wonderful day. I loved reading about your girls. Grandchildren keep us young.Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
Wonderful!
The girls looked like they had a lot of fun eating together at your fancy table.
Love your girls! They light up my days!
Way to go using the fancy dining room for them.....precious memories in the making.
So cute! It so nice to have those memories of eating at a nice dining room table. So many of our children these days do not even know what that is all about! We have tried to eat in our dining room most every meal while our girls were growing up. Now when they come home they expect that. Great times!
You are a wonderful Nana, Diana! Your sweet, smiling granddaughters will always have memories of these special moments you take time to give them. Such fun and beautiful photos!
A group of charmers! Beautiful girls, too! '-)
Loving your new Irish china by the way………..S
They look so cute in the picture waiting on their formal dinner. The teeth picture. You should know better.....lol. My that meal sounds good on a snowy day.
Hi sweetie, Love the photo of your girls! What a wonderful tradition and training you are providing. We started a new one of playing hide&seek, with the adults helping in the hiding(we were all in the mountains for a getaway). Look for my photos tomorrow.
Hugs,
Noreen
Nice memories you are giving your grand daughters...they won't forget...have a great Sunday.
That's hilarious, Diana--looks like something one of my boys would do if I said to smile without showing your teeth. For sure, though, my boys would be TRYING to be funny!
LOVE your idea of having a fancy dinner for them. What great memories you're making!
Yep, it made me smile for sure!! What pretty girls they all are!
Too adorable. They are so beautiful and growing up so quickly. Yes, those sweet girls did make me smile. xoxoGinger
What a fun time with your girls. One of my favorite times in life is spending time with my 3 K's :)
what wonderful memories you are giving those beautiful girls!!
Teeth or not, they're beautiful!!
xo
Pat
I love this tradition!! You are so lucky that you get to have spend the nights like these! xo
Oh my, Literal Lulu is so cute! I love her interpretation of not showing any teeth! It worked well! What a lovely tradition! The girls are learning so much from you! Great memories are being made- have fun!
Those girls are the cutest. You are very fortunate to be able to spend so much time with them. xo Laura
As, those cuties! How fun to have a fancy dinner and table. Such great memories you are creating. Jane
That picture is too funny. I love your idea if a fancy meal. I'm sure the girls enjoy it also! Have a great week.
Looks like they had a great time with the beautiful table setting! Love their expressions on their faces too!
Oh, she is so funny without even trying. Love that you can do that with the girls. Boys are another thing. You know that place that throws the dinner rolls at you? Mom used to sail bread and butter like a frisbe at us. You had better be good or you earned the nickname butterfingers and it had meaning. I did that with my boys. Nothing formal around here...sigh.
Let me know if you find that sanity corner. I can't find one in my house! LOL Hugs, Leena
What a great tradition you are starting with your girls. They are all so pretty and have their own personalities. Your table is also very pretty.
Yum - spaghetti and meat balls, my fav also.
Mary
Priceless! Loved that picture! You must enjoy these precious ones so very much and you are creating the most wonderful memories for your grandchildren to carry with them!
That's a great Tradition Diana... Good practice for them..
That's too funny! Looks like y'all had a great time at the fancy table. :) I think everyone should use the "good stuff" more often. I know I need to get out my mom's china more often than I do. Hope you have a great week!
I think having this dinner for the girls was a chance of a lifetime for them. I know they will remember that forever - you are a wonderful grandma! sandie
Such cute pictures of the girls, Diana. I have to say that I LOVE THOSE DINING ROOM CHAIRS - they are so pretty, and I love the design on them!
Love,
~Sheri
Beautiful girls! Love them to pieces through your blog :)
Adorable! We play a game where you have to say silly things and not show your teeth -- sidesplitting funny!
Will you be my Nana? You are so wonderful with those girls! Sounds like fun. Pretty tablescape too!
Lord, I love it!
