LAST POST ON THE HOUSE (FOR SALE)--DOWNSTAIRS TOUR

I showed you the outside,
the first floor and the upstairs.
Today we are down on the lower level.
As you go down the steps
you see the two little
'hidey holes' where the faieries leave
TREATS FOR THE KIDS.
Older kids on the high one
Little kids on the low one.
(they ring the faierie bell outside the house
before they come in).
At the bottom of the steps
you see a small sitting room off the
master bedroom.
There is indirect lighting in the ceiling.
There is a fireplace in this room also.
That is Georgia Chunk Marble.
You either love it or hate it.
Hubby loves it.
Here you are level with the bay and patio.
Our bedroom is right behind the sitting room.
This is what you see walking in the door.
If you look REAL CLOSE you will see a
BASEBALL BAT
by MyHero's side of the bed
snuggled up to his night stand.
It must be for me because we have a
security system in place that would
scare the devil away.
Looking back towards the door.
Master bath...
His side....
Toilet room is to the left with a pocket door.
My side...
Hahaha-scale is not included-
It is set at 125 pounds
so I always feel good about myself.
Jetted spa Kohler tub.
Right outside this bathroom
is a rescued claw foot tub
with hot and cold running water.
This has seen lots of bubble baths
for kids over the years.

Going down the hall to the right of the bedroom-
The laundry room is on the right-
There is a stained glass piece built in
between this and the extra bathroom.
At night there is a light that shines on it
to act as a night light for the bathroom.
Yep!  Still got my old Maytags
that work like a charm.
They are going on 20 years old!!!
Only one small repair over the years.
These are bead board cabinets.
To the right of this room is the bathroom
to use if you are outside and
coming in from the bay to take a shower.
You can see the stained glass window on the left.
John's office is at the end of the hall
and for some reason I don't have a picture of that
in my file here.
Sorry--another time...
It is nautical decor.

There is also a full service kitchen
to serve the movie room.
This was the main kitchen in the old house.
When we rehabbed the house
we just moved the kitchen downstairs
and added new cabinets.
They are beadboard which is hard
to tell in this picture.
Storage room to the left which is
NOT PRETTY-
To the right is the media/movie room.
When you are standing in this room
you are at eye level with the bay.
This is a sound proof room
with porcelain drywall.
There is a raised stage at the end
that has hosted many 'plays',
and song fests.
The screen comes down behind the curtains.
Facing the other way you will see a
built in serving station with a granite top.
There is a popcorn machine down here
that sits on top of my dad's old oak icebox
that he set up housekeeping with when he was young.
There are more bits and pieces but
you have seen the highlights.

I am headed to my daughter's house for a few days
and then on to PA for a class reunion
and to see my dear, wonderful cousins
that I love dearly.

I have told MyHero to
PLEASE STAY OFF THE TRACTOR
while I am gone.
Last year he drove my son's tractor
into the bay
and it can't be fixed.....
You might remember this...
BIG GUY
BIG TRACTOR
Last week he thought he might repeat
the fun with MY John Deere!
Skinnier guy...
Littler tractor.....
Hey!  At least he was smart enough
to get off before he rode it all
the way in.
I'd say he is improving!

D-

Just caught up with your home tour. WOW. Just wow. I don't know what to say except your home must have been something else for you all these years. You have done a REMARKABLE job - it is absolutely exquisite. I am sad and sorry you must close this chapter, but do understand its necessity. It is a great deal of house to care for right now. I loveyour tastes and feel honored you have shared this dream home with us. I am sending you and hug and a few million tears, and offering my shoulder as you prepare to let this beauty go.....knowing easier days ahead for your both. In the end, the only thing that matters is love and family. And, well, seriously? That homemade truck trailor thing's window was mighty nice. : - )

Don't forget to bury a statue of St. Joseph upside down in the backyard to help sell you home faster. But Do make sure that truck/trailer thing is available should you need to move quickly. St. Joe doesn't disappoint.

Love you. Hang in there. You are so brave and amazing I just shake my head in wonder. You inspire my soul. ♥♥♥

Oh I would love to hear John's side of these stories. The pictures look bad, but his stories must be good. Ha!

What a beautiful home. I never dreamed that I "knew" someone who lived "on the other side." It has been a wonderful tour and what a lot of work you have done. Have a wonderful time away and we'll all hope with you that your hubby stays out of the brink.

This is a million dollar home! Loved going through it! The tractor in the lake is too funny. I'd like to know the rest of the story! Our John Deere has those same weights on it- probably not so great in the wet sand though! Have fun at the class reunion and seeing old friends and family.

Oh my Diana,.....absolutely exquisite and what a view. How I would love working in that kitchen and staring out at the water! LOL....I had to laugh at the tractors in the water. My husband has done the same thing....with the john deere rolling into the lake but thankfully not the field tractor but he has had mishaps with that one too.....scares me to death!

Oh Diana, I have finally taken the time to tour your gorgeous home! I'll skip any comment about the HERO :) I'm sorry you are having to sell this beauty but I believe that God always has reasons for the seasons of our lives. I'm not often sure that I understand the reasons, but trust that He always wants what is best! Someone will surely be blessed to own this lovely property and you and John will benefit from the next steps on your journey together. You are both in my prayers! Cindy xo

Your home is really beautiful, Diana. It is so family oriented and I really love how you have special little spots for your grandchildren. I'm sure you will make your next home just as special. I'm glad John didn't end up in the water this time. I can see there is never a dull moment at your house! : )

Poor MyHero and his tractor driving abilities :) Please tell me you are selling the tractor with the house. That will solve the tractor/water problem once and for all.

Donna said...

Your home is just gorgeous! Lots of precious memories stored in those walls. The tractor needs to stay with the house. Hmmm, wonder what your HOA has to say about backyard chickens? Just kidding! I love the house but it's too big for just us'ns. It will be perfect for a new family to enjoy.

I've really enjoyed finally getting to snoop around your house! Ha!! It's very pretty and has plenty of room for everyone. I bet it will be hard to leave that place and move to a smaller home. I'm sure you've gotten used to spreading out and having so much space. And don't get me started about that amazing view! But, I know it will also be nice to have less upkeep and less stuff to worry about. Thanks for sharing these photos. I hope the right person comes along soon to buy your amazing home.

I was playing catch up over here earlier, reading all of the house posts...had to leave for a kid's soccer game and more stuff throughout the day prior to finishing this one and commenting. Came back ...

Diana your house is amazing. At some point I started to think about cleaning all of those bathrooms after the grandkids had wreaked havoc, lol and my hat is off to you for that alone, lol!

Oh what wonderful memories have been created in this space for the children :) I hope that it will sell quickly to a worthy family that will fill it with love just as you all have done .

Your house is beautiful.
I love the marble fireplace. We drove south of here the other day to visit a garden and went with throught the area where they mine (? I guess they mine) the marble. We went by a place called marble hill. We saw a place called the Tate House that was built with beautiful pink marble. There is a school there too made with marble. So pretty. I wonder if your marble came from there :)

Diana, God speed on your travels and just have to cluck at the tractor incident. Around here, there'd be blood spilled...just sayin'. LOL House beautiful and wish you well on that. Looking at your beautiful place makes me think why mine hasn't sold...other than "God has a plan" and it's not His timing...yet. OTOH, my place looks lived in...BIG time...dogs, cats, and me...how is it possible we make enough mess for a family of twelve? A dark gift, I'm thinking.
love and prayers, from Thistle Cove Farm

Oh my word, I'm speechless...well, not really; but I am exhausted! I should have followed your lead and just looked at one post at a time, but, no, I thought I'd be smart and view them all and leave just one comment....WOW! Oh my goodness, Diana, do you and John ever lose track of each other? Your house is beautiful -- the woodwork, the floors, and that VIEW! It sounds like you've made lots of "happy memories" here, but you will be making happy memories in another home, soon, I hope!

I hope John is feeling better and stronger each day!
Warm hugs,
Carol
