So, listen...last night
I snuck into Mr. & Mrs. Beverhaffen's room.

"Hidey Hole Happiness"

As most of my early followers know
we have a fairy at our house.
He changes on a whim at the beginning
of each Season.
He is just magic that way.
He hangs right above the stairway
that leads up to the bedrooms.
Built into the pockets created by the steps
are 2 little "hidey holes"
that you can read about here.
Last week one day I noticed that SweetCheeks
was sitting on the steps and talking
(to herself I assumed because she has
many imaginary friends)
However, later that week when she came to visit
she peeked into her "hidey hole" and
she started to cry.
I wondered what was the matter.
"Nana-I telled that fahree that I doan whant
eny morah ribbons or bows.
I telled him I whanted candy or sumfin like dat!"
Oh...that stinking fairy never breathed a word!
Remind me to put a little extra plastic wrap
over his nose when he goes for his
Seasonal nap!
So, Monday just before we left,
Princess Snow White came to visit.
Indeed she did.
AND she had on her new SnowWhite shoes. The game plan goes like this..
rush in--kiss the Nana
then rush to the hidey hole to see
what the resident fairy has left.
I see a slight bit of hesitation this time.
A bit of trepidation mixed in with
curiosity....She opens the door
ever so s-l-o-w-l-y.Look! I think it's one of those grins..
You know the one...the one that says..
Hey! What's up with this...
I think I am pleased but I'm not
going to let you know exactly how pleased
I am yet....you know...kinda like when the
old boy takes the garbage out...
after you've only asked twice...
yeah...that look....
Oooh...she sits down and laughs..
THIS is good!
Really, really good!
What did you get, SweetCheeks?
Look-I'll show you...
I gotta suckah...a suckah shaped like a
flip flop...
Nana-that is one CRAZY fahree!Oh...baby...you don't know the half of it !

Happy Birthday Little Lulu!

The call came
eight years ago today.
Hurry-hurry- I'm in labor..
The baby is coming..
We raced to get there..
but you were a little while coming..
and I..having had 4 babies myself..
had never actually seen one born before..
we were there..
we were all there..
The WHOLE family was there!
It was an amazing moment in our lives.

You were born and all I could think of
was that you looked like a fragile
little baby bird.
Your Daddy was just a bit afraid
to hold you cuz...
he is a great big guy..
and you were just a wisp of hair
and feather soft skin.
Look how cute you were!

Your Mama & Daddy were so proud of you-
their first child.
They took you everywhere
and beyond. We watched your every move,
your every facial expression..
Nothing was too small to record and keep
as a memory. You were all about Papa!
He was your lap of choice..
right after Nana, of course..
But we'll let him think he was IT!Soon you were dancing at a wedding
making us think that someday
we will be dancing at YOUR wedding..
God willing and all.... You were lucky enough to go to
Disney World..
the family favorite..
and have lunch with Pooh Bear.
You weren't even scared at all. Soon, all too soon,
you were headed off to school!
How could that be possible we wondered. And, before we knew it you were
thinking on your own..
and had your favorite foods...
even though we insisted you must still
love peas...
you chose corn.

Yep-you were getting bigger by the day..

You sat at my desk and actually used the computer.

What? When did you get so big?Yep! Our Little Lulu is growing up!

Today she turns EIGHT!

This month she starts 3rd grade!

Before you know it she will be going off to Jr.High

and be thinking about boys and big girl stuff....

But...don't tell her Dad..

cuz he's already worried about that!

But for right now--she is just eight..
and I am going to enjoy every moment
of eightness!

Happy Birthday, Sweetie Pie! We love you!

Frozen Faces~My Other Blog Idea

Remember when I said I had an idea for another blog?
On the days when I work long hours I would still
like to post a "little" blog.
soooo....
Well-Here is what I was talking about-

My Mother had in her possession 2 big boxes of pictures.
I made an album for my brother and I made an album
for myself.
There were tons of unlabeled pictures.
I thought it would be fun to post them
along with captions of what I thought
They Were Really Thinking...
So...here are 2 examples..
Let me know what you think...

Forever Frozen Faces
-or-
What They Were Really Thinking

Decisions...Decisions....

What are you doing, SweetCheeks?
I'm thinkin' about sumthin'.
Hmmmm...looks like you are watching
Dorah the Explorer to me..
Noah-I sayed-I'm thinkin' about sumthin'
Well-what are you thinking about?
I'm trying to decide if I wanna whear dis
Cinderella gown or my
buifful rose colored
ball gown..
cuz the Cinderella gown is my outside gown..
and I wanna safe the ofther one for the ball.
Alrighty then...
Hmmm...guess which one she is NOT wearing!

Her toe nails are painted...She has donned her glass slippers.

that match her dress ever so nicely...

And can you guess what special place she is going?

You will be surprised and amazed!

Can you even begin to imagine?

I'll tell you because you will never guess...

not in a million/trillion years.

She is going to see the dentist.

*sigh*

And I wanted to be the first to wear my

Cinderella gown to Dr.Bob's office!

DRAT!

Adventures In Black & White

Yesterday dawned
foggy and HOT!
Not warm...HOT!
Not a breath of breeze coming in off the bay..
A good morning to meet my
daugther and the three girls at
Well...where else...
Starbucks!
We got some coffee & a strawberry smoothie
to split between the girls
and sat out on the side patio.
Lulu was soon entranced with her Mom's
cell phone with multiple functioning
games, etc.Ria, on the other hand, is sitting on Mom's lap.
On the way OUT the door of Starbucks
she poked herself in the eye...
Owwweee...The sunglasses and the smoothie
seemed to help but she still doesn't look too happy!Ah..yes..that gave our little Miss SweetCheeks
free rein! (or maybe I do mean reign)..
First she has to eat her little piece
of lemon bread with frosting.
See the knitted brow?
Notice the LOOK?
Yeah...well...sisters 1 & 2 got to the piece first.
They ate the frosting off the top.
That's how the day started for
you-know-who.To remedy the situation she quickly
sucks down her own drink
and starts on the one belonging to
Ria-or someone-doesn't matter to her.
Left on the table?
Too bad for you- It's my own now!
Whut do yoah mean? Isss tooo my own!
See? Isss rwight in my own liddle handsys.Okay! I sayed I sorry! Okay?
I juss gonna go ovah heah and dance wif
Prince Sharming-
AND
I gonna sing about Cinderhella...
Hmmmm...We didn't realize her name was Annie
AND she had a dog Toto.
Love the combination stories.
Little Orphan Annie, Cinderella & Dorothy
all wrapped up into one
rousing song!Ooopps...Almost time to go.
Whut?
I doan wanna go..
(To this kid there is NO playground better
than the Starbucks patio area)..
Yeah-she is my kinda kid!
Whare iss we gonna go, Nana?
Da mall? I hate da mall!
(Me too-but I gotta make a return)
But fhirst I hafta finish dis schmoofie..okay?
Okay!
Ummm..dis is rweally good, Nana!
I nevah knew it was so good befoah.
Hey! Whut are we gonna do at the mall?
Huh-whut do you mean there's a money eater there?
Can I frow sum pennies in it?
I frowed mine in bettah than my sistahs, huh?

*big sigh*
I think I am getting tirard, Nana.
I juss gonna sit heah for a little while!

Sweet dreams, SweetCheeks!

Tomorrow will be another exciting day in your life.

A Sailor's Dream

Monday was a hot and humid day.
It started off hot...
and got hotter!
MyHero and I decided that we
would take a short ride across
the peninsula to a little town
called Manitowoc.
We were checking out a motel on the water
to see if it might work for an
"escape" every once in a while.
Lo and behold..
Look! Look!
What IS that at the edge of the parking lot
that borders the hotel?

WHAT in the world is MyHero
looking at?
Hmmm....
Oh..it's only a bunch of old telephone wires..
isn't it?
No! It's not~ but I had you going there
for a minute didn't I?Ooooh..there is an adventurer hidden in
every man's heart.
Did you know that?
Trust me!
And-putting the laundry away
isn't on the list
of adventurous things to do.
Oh..look...there are the sheets
MyHero would like to fold!
Men don't dream about fresh laundry.
No~men dream about things like
sleeping outside under a tarp,
attached to a ship,
floating in the water,
with no wives..
joined only by..
scullery maids
and wenches
who will do their every bidding.
Under canvas covers-like this..

Don't believe me?

Ask your hubby.
If he says he is 100% happy with NO adventure
in his dreams..
that he loves you SOOO much that he
never thinks of another thing...
yeah..well...basically...
sorry to
burst your "happy" bubble..
He's a liar..
A big, fat
(or skinny, depending on the man)
Liar!
MyHero's eyes glisten
as he takes in the front of this beauty.
There is nothing like a boat..
or a special car..
or a motorcycle..
or a piece of new carpenter's equipment..
or a new tool..
to make the man's heart go pitty-patter..
sometimes they will even grin...
MyHero gets all excited when he sees
this... Come aboard, mate..
Adventure beckons..
The boarding planks are in place.
Step Aboard!Oooooh...and here's the tender
(the little boat behind the big boat for all you land lubbers)
Yeah...that's the kind of junk in the trunk my old boy likes. The flag is unfurled and blowing in the breeze...
Are you ready?
Step lively!
The tall ships are leaving shore...
Sadly, MyHero decided that
his big adventure today would involve
something like this..
Goodbye-Goodbye Tall Ship...
Maybe next year..
I will sail away with you...
(if my wife will let me)
Sure I will...
In your dreams!
