Oh, I know that some of you
are TOO YOUNG to remember the '60s
But for many of us it was a time of
New freedoms~
New music,
New music,
New hairdos and
NEW CLOTHING STYLES

Twiggy was one of the first ones
that brought us the
MINI DRESS!
I had a dress almost identical to this in navy blue
and wore it with ORANGE SHOES.
I thought I was SOOO cool.
The town I lived in thought I was scandalous!
I think it was the first mini-skirt
they had ever seen.

always causing a ruckus of some kind...
The 1960's also brought us
BELL BOTTOMS
You were totally hip in those
especially if you wore them with one of
THESE TOPS!
There were hippie clothes-
The SHORT of it looked like this~

TIE-DYED pieces
to be caught in tie dye.
I, for one, never owned a single piece of tie-dye!
Some of us were preppy in the 60's
Yes-it's true- I had this dress!
POP ART clothing POPPED UP here and there-
I would have worn something
like this to church
on Sunday
Somehow,
I always envied this woman's
class and style.
And while the beautiful Jacqueline Kennedy
had someone that dressed like this-
The ones that looked like THIS
are the ones that usually found me!
Was I lucky, or what?

LOL! This was certainly a blast from the past! Although maybe I'm a little older than you...I'm not sure...our town (and parents) were very conservative, and we still had dress codes at school, so the mini skirts were not allowed at school for sure! By the time I graduated from H.S. my skirts were getting pretty short, but not quite to the extreme of Twiggy. I really didn't get into the Bell Bottoms, etc., until the 70's., but by then I was married and having babies, so my style was determined by maternity tops and bottoms/dresses that were designed to try and conceal the fact that you were "expecting", at least until it could be concealed no longer because you were carrying an almost 10 lb. baby! LOL. Back then NO self-respecting lady would've worn the tight fitting snug "maternity outfits" of today that show every bulge of the belly as it grows. THAT would have been "scandalous". LOL. So times have certainly changed in fashion...some for the better, and some, well...not too sure what they are. This was fun. You found some great outfits to share. I do remember having a string of "love beads" that I wore with my shortest dress I could get away with. LOL. Thanks for the memories.
Those were the best days...to be young and dressing like Lilly Pulitzer and college days of plaid skirts and knee socks....cardigans and pearls....it was marvelous wasn't it?
I remember so very well. Did many of those. I have one dress I made back then - and I can't believe how crazy short it is. Surprised mom ever let me out of the house. LOL
Many things are going around again, and the girls think they are really starting something new. Been there and done that.
Oh, I loved Gunne Sax dresses! Still do. It's called Bohemian now. I remember always matching my shoes exactly to my outfit. I was kind of a fashionista then.....now I just want to be comfortable. Old Navy is more my style! AnnMarie
