NANA DIANA SUMMER UPDATE

 THANK YOU

to all of you that have

reached out to me!

I guess I owe everyone an update!

Hubby has been dealing with a lot of health issues.

Serious issues. Issues that keep him in bed

for days at a time.

He passes out when he stands,

sometimes he is so dizzy, even sitting,

that he doesn't want to get out of bed.

This is not vertigo-nothing like that.

His blood pressure plummets at a

moment's notice.

Sometimes his BP is 60s/30s.

It's crazy.

The dr's say none of it makes sense.

I don't remember the last time

we did anything together except watch

shows on Prime or Netflix.

Mayo has accepted him as a patient

BUT

after talking to them last week,

it could be six to nine months

before they will be able to see him.

Meanwhile, they have changed his medications

several times with no improvment.

All of his tests are normal,

EEG/EKG/CT SCANS/BLOOD WORK/LIVER FUNCTION/HEART/LUNGS

All normal-No cancer SOOOOO--What is it?

Meanwhile,

I have been doing several things

around our condo complex.

A friend and I started a women's group

(WOW-Women of Webster).

We have a monthly luncheon, card games,

a book club, etc.

We are opening an Etsy shop soon-

so stay tuned for that.

There is a nice clubhouse and

a huge pool here so I am able to stay active

when I know Hubby is taken care of

and won't get up while I am out.

It works for us----because it has to!

I walk daily with my best boy,

        SCRUFFY.

We get at least 3 miles a day in unless it's raining.

He doesn't like to get his feet wet

but thinks nothing of rolling in the mud.

He keeps me happily entertained

for hours on end..on end...on end.

He has no OFF button....

Thank God for a grandson that

likes to play with him.

I need to get after my garden areas because

they need to be divided and moved

but will probably wait until Fall now.

They ARE lush and gorgeous though.

I did get most of my flowers in

around the front courtyard.

So, my friends, there you have it.

And, in case you are wondering,

I still have my wicked sense of humor.

I need it on those day when I wake up

to a mess like this!

A closet rod and shelf collapsed!

A good time to sort thru old clothes maybe?

Maybe overload on the pole?

Darn dog- I told him that was too much weight!

I will try to stay a bit more

connected.

Maybe I'll show you the cute

little number I am wearing for the

Fourth of July.....

Thanks for hanging in there
with me.
Love to all~

Thank you for the update, Diana. I'm so sorry to hear about hubby's dizziness (and everything is "normal" - how frustrating). Vertigo is strange and happens for so many reasons. I really hope it goes away for him! Your outdoor spaces look beautiful. Take care! -Jenn

Thank you so much for sharing beautiful friend. Diana continued prayers for you wonderful husband. It really has to be scary for him. Also for you to worry and love home so much. Praying he can get into the Mayo Clinic sooner rather than later. Not only is it frustrating but scary too. Sounds like you have found a good community to be involved with. Love Scruffy. He’s so darned adorable! Your garden is very lush! Are you affected by the heat wave there?
Hugs, Cecilia

Your WOW group sounds just like what you need! You can only watch so much Netflix and Prime before you start to go bonkers. Well, more than you are already :)

Hope you find the answers to John's issues soon. It's got to be frustrating for both of you!

I feel your caregiver pain, me to me too.. prayers for John and bob and for you and me and all others who are caregivers. that is really odd that they can find nothing. I don't remember your hubbies age, but Bob is about to turn 88 and aging is a large part of his issues, and memory is a large part too

Praying for John and you Diana. You were so encouraging to me when Curtis was going through all he went through before he passed. Miss talking to you, I hope you have a Blessed Day❣️. Sylvia C.

I'm so sorry for all the health struggles John is having! Have you considered a naturopath doctor? They are trained to get to the root source of issues. I've been seeing one for years who has helped me tremendously and found and treated things the medical doctors didn't. Glad you have found a wonderful community of women to be a part of. Scruffy is so adorable and such entertainment for you!!

I hope they can figure out what's causing your husband's BP woes, Diana. In the meantime, glad to hear you are keeping busy with Scruffy, gardening and your new women's group. Best wishes!

Oh dear friend, I pray that your husband gets some answers. Mystery illnesses are tough to treat. Your plants are beautiful, I need to split and move some but it's just too darn hot. It's been a while since my closet rack fell, but it happened to me too. We were sitting here and heard a loud noise. I thought there was a deer (or another animal) on the front porch. Nope, it looked like yours in our closet:( What a mess it was. Anyway, nice to hear from you and I will keep you and your hubby in my prayers. Prayers are good for anything that ails us! HUGS!

Ah, there you are! I have been wondering if either you or hubby were ill. I hope for both your sakes you get some sort of medical revelation on what the issue is with hubby's BP !!

You two take care!!!

Oh Diana, what a difficult situation. I'm shocked that Mayo can't get you in any sooner. Is that the way it's going these days? We were there in less than a week when our daughter was diagnosed with cancer but that was in the early 90's. My hugs for you and prayers for John.

Oh Di, I am so sorry to hear that your hero is still struggling with this health issue. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers! Xo

Updates are so important so people who love you know how to be supportive. I’d also like to add what a vital cog you are in this condo complex in which we live in big and in so many small ways as you often support your neighbors and friends here in unheralded ways. Prayers for strength for you and John.

It is so good to hear from you. Scruffy has turned into a beautiful boy. Sorry for your poor husband. I hope he will find some relief soon. Meanwhile you sound as though you are doing what you can to be busy. It has to be difficult and worrisome. Thinking of you. Hugs JANICE

Diana, so happy to hear Mayo has accepted John. I don’t understand why the long wait. Such a mystery, no one can figure out why he passes out. I hope he gets the help he needs sooner. Happy you have a woman’s group to keep busy and chat with. Support is so important. Scruffy is such a delight. He is so adorable and I am pleased you have each other. Xoxo

It’s good to hear from you. I’m sorry about your husband’s low blood pressure issues. That’s scary. I have really low blood pressure that when I get a cold, my BP drops and I’m dizzy etc. Gosh I wish Mayo could get him in quicker.
Scruffy is adorable! I bet he does entertain and is good company. Your ladies group sounds like fun.
Praying for you and your husband right now. God bless

Diana, you and your hubby are in my daily morning prayers (by name) so you are thought of more than you can know. I also still have Jason on my prayer list. I haven't asked for an update on him. Sending love and hugs, always!

Diana, It was good to hear from you. I pray for you and your hubs, may healing and strength fill your bodies. I had my 24th surgery last fall and the healing has been slower than I like. I quit blogging because my days were hard and I wasn't wanting to share the negativity. I was starved for happy homemaker blogs and kept reading and enjoying others' writings. I miss it, sharing the art of homemaking and ideas with nice people. Thank you for sharing your life and your funny and witty personality. I enjoy your blog even if life is hard. Prayers, again for good health and great happiness. ~jackiesee~ aka GeeDazee

so sorry to hear about your husbands health issues. That's has to be frustrating that they can't find anything wrong when so obviously there is.
Too funny that Scruffy doesn't like to get his feet wet but will roll in the mud. Does he keep his feet up when he's rolling in that mud so they don't get wet...lol

I'm grateful for the update, Diana. It's such a mystery, isn't it? I wish you didn't have to wait so long -- that's a long while to be more or less in bed or at least limited. Have you tried other tertiary places, like Cleveland Clinic? Some spot that MIGHT get you in sooner? Otherwise... just waiting.

But it sounds like you are doing good self-care, getting out with people, especially. That has to be good for the soul.

Sally Wesley (Strands of Silver) just wrote a post about when things are out of control -- "Just do the next thing." Getting by one day at a time.

You hang in there.

Your flowers are beautiful. I don't know when you find the time to take care of all that.
I don't believe that that is your closet!
Don't get me started on today's medicine. How can I make somebody John's age with those symptoms wait six months? Why does it take four months to get an MRI? Four months could mean the difference between life and death or operable and not operable. I don't understand today's world.
You got me started so I'm going to stop before this goes on forever. Big hugs, stay well.

Thanks for the catch-up, Diana. So sorry to hear about your husband's lingering health problems. I'm glad you're able to get out and about to walk your dog and visit with friends. Take good care!

And I thought MY closet roids were overloaded!!! Oh gosh, I am so sorry. I cannot imagine the stress you must be going through. I have two things going on, one is a vagal nerve problem where I pass out if standing too long. The other is orthostatic hypotension where if I stand too long, my blood pressure drops and the blood all goes from my head to me feet. So I pass out. I am not telling you this to complain, but because it sounds a bit like what your husband is going through. Maybe you could research them. Your garden area is stunning, like an English cottage garden.

Sorry to hear about your husband and his trials. I know how it is. I was diagnosed with Systemic Sclerosis, which is an autoimmune disease that attacks kidneys, lungs, digestive tract, heart...pretty much preys on my organs. I am hanging in there, determined to continue to live and enjoy what life I have left. We even went on 2 week trip to see Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Some days I could not do much but still enjoyed being there in this natural area.
Glad to hear you have a group of friends to enjoy life with. I posted our trip pics on my blog. https://poetrose24.blogspot.com/
I had to do it in 3 posts! Good to hear from you again.

Diana, I have to laugh about that closet. There was a time when I had maybe 12 items in my closet. Then my clothes multiplied thru the years. One evening there was a strange sound from the closet and Ted said , "Susie you need to thin the clothes out and I will tend to the closet." I said, "Honey can't we just move?" Girl, I did not want to tackle that mess. Hug John and tell him we all love him and are praying for him. Sending blessings from my heart to yours. Love you, xoxo, Susie

Hello my sweet friend. I hope you get the call soon to help John. Little Man Scruffy is so sweet and adorable. It is amazing how much stuff we accumulate in closets. I swear things just multiply in there at night. Have a good week. We are in a heat wave down here. Crazy. Have a good week. Hugs. Kris

How awful to feel that bad and not know why. Do you have home health care. I’m glad scruffy keeps you entertained.
I fell on Mother’s Day. Then I got Covid. I’m finally seeing a surgeon this week.

Diana, my heart goes out to you. All these unknowns are so frustrating. We experienced the same. We considered going to Mayo, but M decided against it. I'm happy you have a group of friends at your new abode, and also a garden space. A little garden would be important for me! That said, my current garden is almost too much these days! Especially in our summer heat! I know the feeling of a closet rod collapse! Early in our marriage at our first home, we had just had California Closets install a "closet" only to have it collapse just has we were leaving town. What a mess! Good luck!

So happy your shared! Your blooms are jewels! I've never had good success with iris. Not sure why, but they don't bloom much. I need to talk to an expert. Yes, time goes by so fast. Here we are about to welcome July! Oh, my!!! Happy summer, Monique!

Diana, I hope that Mayo is able to see John sooner than later. It must be so frustrating to watch him suffer without a diagnosis. I'm glad you've found a great group of friends and that you have your sweet Scruffy to keep you company and bring you some joy. Always happy to hear from you. I wish you a lovely summer my friend!! xxoo

Diana, first of all, I'm so sorry John is going through all of this. And you as well. It must be awful to feel dizzy all the time. I really hope he finds some answers to what is happening. That's wonderful that you started a women's group. That will be nice for you to get away now and then. And so good that you walk Scruffy every day. Your garden is coming along nicely, and everything looks so green and lush. I love all the statues, and that cute little blue table is something I would have in my own garden. That florescent ball is so cool. I got rid of many clothes recently too. With all the moves, I had to! So good to catch up with you, Diana. Hang in there, and take care. love you.

I enjoy your Blog very much and appreciate the lists you compile to make it easier to find new blogs we might not otherwise have known about. I am not a doctor--nor do I play one on TV - but I too suffer with dizziness. I go to Mayo in Jacksonville, Fla. What has helped me the most is keeping well hydrated (the leading cause of dizziness) and treating my anemia / low hemoglobin with iron infusions. Many patients have anemia after chemo. Might mention this to hubby's docs. Prayers for you both.

Diana, I hope if I'm ever in a siimilar situation as yours that I stay as active as you. And on top of that, you've done a stellar job of continuously advocating for John. I'll pray they have an opening sooner rather than later.

It's so good to hear from you, but so very sorry to hear about the health struggles that your hubby is going through. I know it is scary and upsetting when you can't get answers and you still feel so bad. Praying he will get in with a good doctor soon who can diagnose and actually help him. Meanwhile, glad to know you are keeping active and doing some positive things to keep your own health and morale up. Scruffy is a good friend to have! Love your garden spots...they look so nice. And your 4th of July outfit will get rave reviews in the community news, I am certain! LOL. Take care of yourself and thank you for hanging in there. Hope things will get better by and by. Praying for you both.

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's health problems Diana, I hope the doctors and specialist get to the bottom of it soon. It's good that your are staying positive with your garden, which looks lovely, and with Scruffy, I liked the video. Take care x

Thanks for the update. We have you on our prayer list, and we are actively praying for y'all! Scruffy is very active. We normally are, but it has been so hot here we haven't been able to walk! So sorry to hear about your husband’s many health issues. Has he been tested for Ménière’s disease? It causes some of the symptoms you describe which can be scary and debilitating. I pray you both get answers soon. The role of a caregiver is TOUGH! RHill, TX

I hesitate to say anything related to someone else's medical issues but kept feeling to share. I had issues similar to your husband. I finally started taking my BP meds at night before bed. I won't say the Lord told me to but let's just say the thought came to try it. Took care of the plummeting. But that was just me. My heart goes out to you. And I'm praying for him. And you. We're all so individual in our lives but we can all relate to needing help.

I do hope the wait turns out to be shorter for you both so you hopefully find answers and solutions soon. I loved seeing your garden, absolutely wonderful therapy for worries. Glad you have a group you enjoy and what a sweet little buddy you have to walk with. Oh the closet! Yes, a good time to donate and organize.

I just came across your blog...enjoyed the post!! My hubby has been plagued with similar symptoms. Right now, we are keeping things stable with B12 shots (shots work best rather than pills). He has to have one about every week, tho the doc here thinks once a month ought to work. It does not do enough and he has had some falls. My suggestion while you are waiting on Mayo or wherever, is to see if you can find a good nutritional doctor...someone who is an MD but understands the body better than most docs these days. We live across the country now from a fabulous doc in our previous state who has helped us greatly...knowing a great deal about all forms of medicine as well as being an MD. Blessings on you as you traverse this path. I have had to be a 24/7 caregiver ever since Covid. Though he had issues before, he was managing on his own with a cane. It is not easy for anyone!!
