I'M BACK!!!!!!!!!! A PECAN PIE FOR THANKSGIVING---YUMMMMMMMM

Do you know that hardly
ANYONE
in my family
likes nuts?

Can you IMAGINE that?
I can't!
I have always loved nuts!

Peanuts,
Almonds,
Walnuts,
Cashews,
Brazil Nuts,
Pistachios,
You name it- I love it.

But my FAVORITE of all time
is probably
PECANS!

Gotta love those pecans!
At Thanksgiving I always
make at least one
PECAN PIE.

Now I have always used a
traditional recipe for
Pecan Pie
but when I spotted this recipe
I thought it would be fun
to try it for
Thanksgiving.

This came from
If you can't read it
I have typed it out here for you.

Utterly Deadly Southern Pecan Pie

1- 10" pie crust (I use Pillsbury Dairy Case)
1 TBS powdered sugar
4 large eggs
1-1/2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup melted butter @ room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 TBS all purpose flour
2 TBS milk
1-1/2 tsp vanilla (I use a bit more)
1-1/2 cups pecan halves

Preheat oven to 325º
Fit pie crust into 10" cast iron skillet
Sprinkle pie crust with powdered sugar

Whisk eggs in large bowl until foamy
Whisk in brown sugar and next 6 ingredients
Pour mixture into pie crust and top with1-1/2 cups pecan halves

Bake at 325º for 30 minutes
Reduce oven temp to 300º
Bake 30 more minutes
Turn oven off and let pie stand
in oven with door closed
for three (3) hours.

Serve with dollop of whipped cream

Just so you know-
there are many NUTS in this family
which lends itself to
much hilarity at family gatherings.
We don't all go out to eat at
restaurants very often because
the family gets LOUD...even though
most of us don't drink.
We laugh about everything
and some poor soul is usually the
BUTT of the jokes--
but the VICTIM changes
on a whim.
Anyone else have a family like that?

My Hero does his best to ignore
everyone and pretend he is just
a visitor at the table.
Yep- one in every family!

By the way,
I am home from vacation
and as soon as I figure out how to get
my pictures out of that darned
CLOUD
I will be posting some pictures.
I promise you will NOT see ANY
pictures of me in a bikini--
YEAH---Wouldn't want you to
lose your appetite
before Thanksgiving.

Hmmmm...on the other hand-
maybe that's not such a bad
deterrent for overeating....
nah..........never mind..........

Welcome back. We had pecan trees at my childhood home and I love pecans! Mother, Karen and I would bake goodies from Thanksgiving to Christmas with pecans. This pie sounds yummy!

Oh boy! I LOVE pecan pie and although I have several recipes for it, I will be saving this one. I recently made a Sweet Potato Pecan Pie....wow, was that good! How nice to have a big, fun family to celebrate holidays with :-)

Pecans! Love them, but not in halves. That’s why I love PW’s recipe for pecan pie.

Hope that you had a wonderful vacation and that you can find your pictures.

I think I gained a pound reading this post, ha! That pe-can pie looks utterly amazing, indeed! I will have to try this recipe out, as we have a lot of nuts in our family, nut-lovers that is, lol! Glad you had a great time in Florida, always nice to get away!

Welcome home, dear lady! You have been MUCH missed ~ I hope you had the wonderful break you had hoped for!
Hugs ~
PS ~ pecan is good, but I more love mincemeat!

That pecan pie! I’m going to keep that recipe! We have gathered a good bushel basket of good pecans from our two trees this season and they are still falling. Not anywhere near the bumper crops of years past but more than enough for what we will use this year.i saw a recipe for a Bacon Pecan Pie on Facebook and I’ll be making that next week along with Firebird Pumpkin Pies for Thanksgiving at Nita’s.one slice of the pumpkin pie is 670 calories! I’m thinking we will all take pie bites! Louis Dean will be making his famous dinner rolls. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Diana, That pie looks so very good. I have eaten pecan pie before, but I usually scrape out the filling and just eat the top and crust. LOL. Glad you are back home safe. Oh yes, I think I know that family of which you speak...gaa. Some times you feel like a nut and some times you are one. LOL You know something like that. Big families help toughen up your skin. :)
Blessings to all of you, xoxo, love you, Susie

We stopped in Georgia...recently and got fresh pecans at the packing house! They are out of this world...just pecans, straight out of the bag! Glad you had a good trip! Get those photos loaded! heehee!

Our family sounds like your family...a huge, boisterous brood, always loud and laughing! I think that's the best. And my mom loved pecan pie. It was her favorite at Thanksgiving. Can't wait to see the vacation pictures...bring on those bikinis! I'm already tired of seeing Christmas trees in my feed. Oops...did I just say that out loud? 😉 xo

Like you I love all kinds of nuts and also have some nuts in our family. Sometimes I think they try to outdo each other when it comes to being nutty. My favorite nut is pecans so I saved the recipe. Hopefully I[l make this for Thanksgiving. Next to pumpkin pie it is a must for me.

Southern Living (I have a library of their cook books) is the place to go for scrumptious southern food and especially Pecan Pie. That used to be my go-to pie for many occasions. Then everybody went on diets and the only crunch they wanted was celery. I haven’t made it in years but you have me thinking about it now.

I am struggling to keep from gaining back the weight I lost, and now I might take a selfie in a bikini and post it on the fridge, that should scare me straight. ha ha.... I am with you, I love all nuts except the pistachios. don't eat those. Cashews are my favorite but pecans tie for first place. my dad had 3 pecan trees in Savannah and I was raised with pecans in every dish and just eating them as I shelled them. I was shocked when I married my PA Dutch yankee doodle dandee tht he did not like pecans OR eat pecan pie. I mean REALLY????

I am a nut, nut. That is my favorite pie, but in my 80 years I do not think I ever ate a pie baked in cast iron. Seems a great idea. I have a couple grandsons and a son who are the witty ones at our family gatherings.
I am sure you guys have fun!
