Just a word of caution..
If you hang one
that looks like
the one below..
SOMEONE
(who shall remain nameless)
will be sure to ask..
IS HIMS NAKED?
IS HIMS NAKED?
Your reply should be
Absolutely..
That is why he is
carrying an envelope.
This is sure to produce
a giggle from at
least 2 or the 3 grandkids.
The third one doesn't giggle.
The third one doesn't giggle.
She doesn't giggle
because she doesn't
"get it".
She is trying to figure out
where HIMS got that big of an envelope.

Step Two:
You must lay out supplies.
These will cost somewhere
in the neighborhood
of $459.00...and....
of $459.00...and....
after you buy
ALL THAT STUFF,
you will realize that you have
forgotten at least one or
two crucial supplies..
Like...
Elmer's WASHABLE glue.
Lord help you if you buy the
regular Elmer's glue
because it will NOT be pretty!

Now that you have
your supplies home
and have signed the bank loan
and have signed the bank loan
to cover the expense..
you must lay out the goodies...
Lay them out nice and neatly..
Sigh over the paper-Oh So Sweet
Step Three:
HANG A FLAG OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR.
A cute little cherub flag
to greet them with a smile.
Isn't it perfect?
Bringing PRESENTS?
PRESENTS FOR ME?
PRESENTS FOR ME?
Yep-these are for Nana..
and they made them all by themselves.
and they made them all by themselves.
Inside are beautiful little
hearts made with love..
One from Ria.
Two from Lulu...
and one from SweetCheeks.
Of course I must put them all on..
I pick up SweetCheeks...
What does this say, SweetCheeks?
That's jus' sumbuddy ehlse's name
on there...Doan't pay eny
attenshun to the name...
just putt it on..
Whereupon I am informed
by Lulu that
"I told SweetCheeks
NOT to give you that one".
Whereupon SweetCheeks says
NOAH.YOHU.DIDN'T.LULU
an' I dohn't care cuz I am ghiving
it to her enyways! PFFFFFT!
Great.. We are off
to a nice, calm start...
Now where were we?
Okay..girls..
Let's get started...
WHO WANTS TO MAKE A VALENTINE?
WHO WANTS TO MAKE A VALENTINE?
Everyone's hand shoots into the air.
In short order everything
looks like this.....
All three girls are
Busy-Busy-Busy
Lulu made this-
Ria loved the self-stick hearts...
SweetCheeks has changed into
her 3rd Princess outfit and has busied herself

Oh, Dear Lord In Heaven...
While I was refilling my coffee cup,
While I was refilling my coffee cup,
pray tell WHO handed HER
the glitter?
the glitter?
On the floor and on the chair..
In her mouth and on her hair....
I could go on and on with the
rhyming thingy but I'm afraid
the Dr. Suess police will get me.
An especially nice touch?
The globs of
glue that dropped here and there
and shine brightly up
from the chair...and the table...
and the floor...and the countertop...
Did I say floor? Ah..yes...
and back to the glitter...
Nothing like glitter on the floor
that can be tracked from
room to room..
Leave NO ROOM untouched
seems to have been the motto
of the day.
I decide I need a bathroom break
to dispose of the 3 gallons of coffee
that I have downed in an effort
to keep up with this
CRAFT DAY WITH THE KIDS.
Lo and behold,
in the small reading nook
(where the old steps used to be)
I SEE THIS!!!
I SEE THIS!!!
the shelf and on the floor?
I ask ever-so-sweetly-
Uh-oh---Here it comes...
Welllll...says SweetCheeks..
Ria toohk a few books off
the shellf and then I helped her
and taked the rest offf..and
we jus' put 'em there for now.
Yeah? Where do you think
you're gonna put them later?
Wellll...It was Ria's idea.
I dunno how they gonna
get bahck on the shelfs.
Hmmmm...I dunno where YOU'RE
gonna go either if you guys don't put
these books back.
All too soon-
the day ends and we clean up the
mess, they put on their matching
dresses that Nana bought them
and they get ready to go home.
dresses that Nana bought them
and they get ready to go home.
As you can plainly see
SOMEONE has been so overworked
she has collapsed in a heap
using her sisters as pillows.
These little girls are big girls now...
but I love them as much as I did
when they were little like this...
even more...
Kind of bittersweet to look back on
these special times.

Kind of bittersweet to look back on
these special times.
I may invite them over to
do this again this weekend.
If you don't see me by Monday
I will be glued to a seat somewhere
in the house.
I hope it is in a chair in front of
the computer.
Edited to add:
MyHero reads my blog and says:
You SPENT $459 ON THIS STUFF?
(Sheeez...don't ya know a joke when you read one?;>)

Oh those are such precious times that you will forever cherish! I almost LOL'd when I read the last line of your edited end of the post! Does it ever make you wonder why they don't know when we're kidding? I mean, how many years have we been married anyway???

Thank you for my first big belly laugh of the day!!
Oh Diana this was such a FUN post!!! And watching my own grandkids, i can say that every bit of it is true! 😀😀❤️❤️❤️
Oh my gosh....that is a lot of money to get started on something. Cleaning out or through my craft stuff but I hate getting rid of stuff cause as it is now, I don't have to purchase stuff...I have it on hand. But you know how it goes, you get rid of it and then you need it.
OMG!!! Too funny! Leave no room alone!! Have a great week, Diana.
Now that's funny. But not at my house you don't! Glue, glitter. No. Glue sticks. Yes. Those girls are darling. It is really bittersweet, as you say, but the sweeties must grow up. (You didn't tell your sweetie you exaggerated those numbers and it was more like $450!) you're such a good Nana.
A great little story. You're making memories for both you and your grandkids, Have a great week, Diana.
But oh the memories!
You always get me laughing at your stories. I can feel you pain and joy and teethe gritting love. I love how you tell them. Its puts us all right there with you.....wait, I think I got some glitter in my eye.
Lisa
I can't say anything I am laughing so hard. And, haven't I heard you agree with me when I said that I wish they were little again!!! I take it all back, especially since I haven't seen what you will face when you invite them back this weekend. Do you think they have changed? And it seems that you are married to a MR Black or White also!!.. Don't we love them all though, old or young!! xxoJudy
Oh how cute! I'm laughing! Enjoyed this so much! xo Dolly
Nice to revisit the girls at that age..You are too funny..Don't know how you come up with this stuff, but I'm glad you do!! Great story..Thanks for he laugh..
You have the best stories. Glue and the glitter are making me stress just thinking about it.
Cindy
Lol, glitter, glitter everywhere! And glue and books...too funny! 😂
Yes,I figured you were fudging the cost at $459.00 for art supplies.. Heaven Forbid.....$459.00...Ha ha,we all know it was probably $460.00, but hey, saved a little $$...Little lies (stories)like that, make it sound so much better sometime..(grin, sometimes) Loved this cute post, and the girls know, everything looks better when it sparkles, and in this case, (forever and forever) Oh, by the way. Allison is a very pretty name, anyway...
Love this! Great memories. I'm sure the girls treasure them, too. Guys - so literal sometimes!
Oh isn't it fun to look back? Don't you just wish you could bottle the moments and go back and squeeze those littles just one more time? Glitter and all...
Oh my gosh!!!! That was the funniest post!! As a grandma myself, I totally get it! At least you didn't get in trouble with their mommy, like I did, for giving the kids valentines day candy.
Have great day "Allison"
Oh, this was just hilarious and wonderful and marvelous! You are so blessed to have these three lovely little ladies to come and make valentines with you and make such glittery, gooey, lovely messes! What a joy! I know, it was a mess, but a joy nonetheless!! They are such blessed little girls (now bigger you say?) to have had you for a grandma!!!!!
Yeah Hub, it's a joke, right? hahahaha
Love this, Diana; such fun for the girls and you (maybe). They are adorable, and you're a great Nana. :)
xoxo
You are so funny!! This is cute as can be. Your granddaughters were adorable. All those book on the floor reminded me of keeping my three grandsons while their mother, my daughter, was in the hospital giving birth to a daughter, finally. I never figured out how all the VCR movies, hundreds of them, kept getting out of the shelf and piled on the floor!!
Diana, you must be the world's Most Fun Nana! Hope you don't get glued to a seat!
Okay this is beyond funny. My son calls glitter the Devil's Dandruff! Believe me, we've had it all over our home so many times when the kids were little! These really are sweet memories, thanks for sharing them with us! xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home
Love your banner - such a cute vintage look! ♥
I just had a day like that yesterday with my two grandkids and it was exhausting to say the least. I am still trying to see the humor and fun in it all. This post had me laughing out loud at your day though!!
:D It's fun to read a post from the archives, especially when Sweet Cheeks is involved!
You are the best Nana - I am smiling at the price tag because I know it is the TRUTH! haha! Oh, those sweet little girls......growing up to be beauties and that's a whole different set of worries :) Enjoy every moment. xx K
What sweet memories, Diana!! I have to tell you that I don't like glitter...not one little bit! Hope you get to enjoy those girls soon, but don't get stuck to the chair.
Oh dear Diana, you had me in tears! It is amazing how fast kids can make a mess! Oh you do have a way of telling a story, and made me remember the days when my kids were little and how a simple project could turn into a disaster, and especially anything involving glue and glitter, oh my! Such sweet memories indeed, how fast they grow up! The dresses you made them were darling! I know you will have a lot of fun together with them this weekend :)
Those are priceless memories. They sure a beautiful girls and so sweet. Love the post, to funny.
Have fun making more Valentines.
Hugs,
Mary
