Best Dive In Town

You know we have been traveling.
And, if you HAVE been reading
my posts, you know that
we have been near the
water. Right?

Well, we hit Traverse City
a couple of days ago.
GREAT TOWN.
My blog title says
Best Dive In Town.
Did you think I was
talking about the local
swimming pool?
Or diving into the waters
on their pristine beach?
Nah!
For one thing you won't catch
ME in a bathing suit
at a public beach.
Why? Well~
Seriously,
I hate to see people
running and screaming away
from the water.

So...What DIVE am I
talking about?
Hang on- I'm getting
to it.
We hit Traverse City
about lunchtime.
We saw wonderful little
sidewalk cafes and
beautiful restaurants...
BUT.....
we saw a
PARKING SPACE
in front of this one.
The lady I chatted up in
the parking lot said
This is the best dive in town
it's where all the locals go.
Sah-weet!

We had burgers!
No bun for me!
They were G-O-O-D.

MyHero quote/unquote...
You aren't taking my picture
while I am eating again
are you?
Nooooo!
Stop it- you know I lied
Our waitress was sweet
and cute.
There were some local
characters in there that
gave the place a little
extra flavor.
okay-just a little pun there
Speaking of flavor,
this is what the promotional piece
says about
Traverse City.
AOL Travel News named Traverse City one of America’s Top 10 Beach Towns,
TripAdvisor.com called it one of America’s Top 10 Charming Small Towns
and Bon Appetit magazine called it one of the country’s Top Five Foodie Towns.

Do you see that last sentence?
Top foodie town?
I was just a tad worried
when we started to leave.
I felt the hair rising on
the back of my neck
when I noticed what was
printed on the back of their
shirts.
yeah- like I need more
problems than I already have....
Let's just say I stopped
and picked up some
Imodium.
(and y'all know what THAT means, don't you?;>)

Traverse city is so beautiful, I'm glad your having fun. Your husband should be used to you having a camera with you at all times.

I love that shirt, Dark Side of the Spoon would fit my kitchen right now.

I want to go wading in that beautiful water.

Hi Diana, I am enjoying your trip with you because it will probably be the closest to a trip we get this year. The scene of the lake from your balcony was so pretty. You don't get hubby very high up in the hotel, I remember having a beautiful view of disney world out our window when the kids were little. He said that he would stay there that night, but to get him down. We went from the 17th to the 1st floor. I imagine you are a lot cooler then we are. Have fun. Hugs Your Missouri Friend.

Diana, Stop torturing that man :):)LOL Darkside of the spoon...Just that is scary :):) Sometimes eating in out of the way places is fun and the best food. Hope you had a fun road trip with your Hero. Smiles, xo, Susie

hahaaaha....so glad you are having fun.
We are about to go to the lake for the 4th weekend...then to the cool mountains in New Mexico.
Keep having fun, dear heart.

I think it means that the food went right through you to make room for some more. You're in a foodie town, so you have to eat!

Personally, though. I think I'd prefer the pristine beaches. And I bet we could find you a flattering bathing suit. I'm over the hill and have an imperfect figure but I spend most of the summer in a bathing suit. Somebody has to kid in with those kids and scoop them up when a problem arrises.

One of my favorite little towns, it's always so pretty and relaxing up there. You're taking quite the road trip! I think I'll be following your route only going backwards in a few weeks.

Awesome t-shirt. My work sends me to TC at least three times a year and it's a great excuse to bring the family. Love that town. Love the scenery (especially in the winter) and love the shopping! I have 3 favorite antique stores there! Hugs!

No bun? No wonder you get cranky. Its called being deprived of all the fun things!
I love the dark side of the spoon and you should see some of the dives around here. Makes that one look like a 5 star stop.
LOL
We had a place here years ago that only had a counter with 5 stools, the owner- no room for another person back there, and you could never get a seat.
Hurry up and get home! I am having Sweetcheeks withdrawl!

That's where my sister-in-law is from! She lives in West Palm now, but her ENTIRE family still lives there!

Lunch sounded good!

Have a happy 4th!

Dear, dear Diana! Yes, I know what Imodium means. Believe me, I do! Naughty you, taking your hero's pic when he's eating! By the way, I don't think you will mind, will you, if I pass the remark that I think your husband is a very handsome man. Wow! Look at those strong arms! Now, I'm wondering if I should click on "Publish Your Comment". Oh, what the heck, might as well live dangerously. At 70, I need to live dangerously a bit, just once in a while, though. So, there goes, "click"!

Awesome looking dive and city. Do you know every new city we are about to visit my husband goes on the internet to research the best dive in town. It is so much fun. I just wish he would write a guest post for me because I can't remember them all.

Oh Dear Diana,

We've got to come back each day for our dose of smiles and laughter! Your way with words and showing us your part of the country is amazing!
Thank you for the day around town!

Have a happy 4th!

Hugs,
Donna

No bun jumped right out at me. Sometimes, I do that but that is when I am really trying to get a few pounds off. I don't picture you with any problems in that area. If your Hero is like my family, they don't read my blog so I don't worry about what I write.

Often the dives are the best. Your Hero is a good sport.

TC is an interesting part of the state, for sure. I do HATE the summer traffic, but otherwise it's fun to visit.

Glad you are having fun.

Pam Kessler said...

Well, at least MyHero doesn't have anything hanging from his beard. He should thank you for that! Glad you lived long enough to blog about the restaurant though. See those red water glasses behind the waitress? Only the best restaurants have those!

Miss Char said...

Hey, I've been to that little dive! TC is a beautiful little town and with the water right there its perfect for summer and winter activities. Sorry but few cherries this year because of the dang early spring and then back to frozen temps. My favorite wine (keeping in mind that my son and daughter say I am a white trash wine girl) is Grand Traverse Late Harvest Riesling.

It sounds like you are having a great time with your travels! Hope you didn't need that Imodium.:) xo Nellie

Hey Diana, I will send my pool boy right over. He loves "hot" blondes and bay water and sand even better than my pool. Happy happy 4th my funny friend. xoxox

I adore Northern Michigan. A few years ago we were in Harbor Springs and I thought it was so lovely. We still have no power. At this point I'm resigned to the fact that it may be several more days. Happy 4th to you and your family!

Your travels have inspired me to turn our summer vacation into a road trip instead of the usual pick one place and stay. You look like you are having so much fun. Happy 4th.

My son and DIL live in Traverse City-I love to visit there.
Now I've never tried the 'dive' you lunched at, but since it requires a follow up of Imodium I believe I'll pass!
Have fun!!

Sweet Tea said...

Hope your Imodium woes have "passed". I enjoy trying local places and the best way to find them is exactly as you did, from local referral...I'm with you on the swimsuit "thang" - just not gonna happen!

Grammy Goodwill said...

You sure had me fooled. I thought your dive was going to be in a pool to cool off. It's unbearably hot here, but I can't complain. So many have lost power, and we've been fortunate enough to keep ours. I think your local place looks very interesting.

andrea@townandprairie said...

I think the majority of Michigan is just a greta place to be! We come up every October!

Happy Harris said...

lol! I don't have a galbladder so I defo know what you mean by Immodium! anything sets me off!...Oh this is sooo funny...did you need them in the end?

Sounds like you are having great fun...do you get away with talking to lots of peeps...my hubby gets really mad, because I am always telling the whole restaurant or wherever I am, my whole life story! lol!

Love you Diana...

From your friend in Blighty xx

You crack me up!! That "dive" looks fantastic. Trying new restaurants/diners is one of the best things about traveling.

You crack me up. Love your blogs. I really have to say out of other writers who say they are authors. They do not even come near you.

One sentence from you. You have my full attention.

You must write a humour book. It would be # 1 seller. I bet the gals agree and oh ya. The pictures go wit the book you take.

Luvs sweetie.

Have a Happy 4th.

Going out of here laughing.
I think when you get older notice I said OLDER.

That Imoduim is your best friend they say.

Only I ended up with being a Celiac and the Imodium was not my best friend. Hmmmmmmmm
