A LITTLE EASTER STORY & THE STINKING EASTER BUNNY

Some of you know that I grew up
on a farm in Pennsylvania.
I grew up believing in
leprechauns and fairies...
Santa Claus
AND
The Easter Bunny.

When I was little my Father
told me that the Easter Bunny
left my basket under a
stump-and-post fence in the
back field.
Today I know that he was a
liar because EVERYONE
knows that the Easter bunny
sneaks into your house at night
and hides your basket.

When I was 5 my father told
me that he was going to meet the
Easter Bunny in the back field
after he spread the morning
load of manure-
YES- Manure!
Keep that in mind~

I wanted to go.
He said NO!
I was determined to see that bunny!
My dog, Lucky, wanted to
see him too.

I wanted to ride on the tractor with Dad.
He said NO!
I decided to follow along behind him
thinking he would take pity on me
and let me ride...I kept asking..
He kept saying NO!
Lucky walked doggedly
by my side.
(like how I worked in the word doggedly)?
It was about a quarter mile to the back field.
Every few feet my Father would
turn around and tell me to go home.
I would shake my head NO
and keep walking...so would Lucky.

We got to the place where he needed
to spread the manure.
GO HOME- I have to start the spreader!
GO HOME-
NO DEAL...
I wanted to see that stinking (;>) bunny!
GO HOME.
I kept walking.
He finally turned the spreader on.
I walked right along behind him..
step-by-step,
row-by-row.
Unfortunately, I do NOT have
a picture of THAT for your viewing
pleasure.

After he had spread the load of manure
he headed home.
I walked right along behind him,
manure covered and stinking
to high Heaven!

When we got home he told me
I was the stubbornest kid he
had ever met.
Hmmmpffffff!
I was NOT stubborn..
I was determined.
And as for Lucky?
Well, let's just say that was NOT
his lucky day.

Next year my
Easter basket was
right at the
breakfast table...
Imagine that!

Moral~
Stubborn means one does not give up
even when presented with
unpleasant consequences.

May you have a blessed Easter
as we celebrate the real meaning of
EASTER.

I hope to be back blogging soon.
There are lots of changes
going on in our lives here
and I will share that with
you soon.

Thanks for still
'being there'
for me during my long absence.

I adore this. My dad told me the Easter bunny delivered to the chickens and I hated those chickens. They chased us and thought we had their food. Every Easter we'd brave it and go to the chicken shed. Never saw the Easter bunny but eggs were always there!

Yikes! I hate that smell! Did they strip you down and spray you off outside with a hose before letting you in the house? Lol! I would have! Great memory for you! 😊😵‍💫❤️

A fun story Diana, I can almost picture the stubborn you and Lucky trailing behind the tractor. Two stinky little munchkins to say the least. Sweet memories too. There is nothing wrong with being stubborn, determined. Happy Easter. Xo

Lol, oh my. I can just picture it. Thanks for the laugh this morning. Some would say determination is a virtue not a flaw. Too funny. 😂

Oh dear, I shouldn't laugh; really, I shouldn't. (*giggle*)
How on earth did your daddy keep a straight face? And I can only imagine the look on your mother's face when you all walked in the door. Good times!

All your changes, all your re-arranges, all your ringing laughter and quiet reflection---may you have sunny days, gentle winds, soothing rains and a heartful of LOVE as you settle into restful nights with sweet sleep. You're practically an INSTITUTION (don't laugh and say didn't I mean "In One?"---we'd be amazed if we looked at our thought processes side-by-side) and much loved by countless friends, readers and passers-by. All the good things and happy thoughts of this Blessed Easter Season to you, every one you love and everyone who loves you..

Amusing story. My folks did the whole Easter bunny story but I never really believed as I was a “Santa” believer. I’m for the true story of Easter.

I hope you have a blessed Resurrection Day.

You are right...determined is the word for sure. Not stubborn! BUT, your Dad did play a role in it, too! How are you and your husband doing? I can't wait to find out what has been going on. despite anything, I hope you have a lovely Easter weekend.

AWWWW, Sweet Girl!! I was drawn back to my sidebar again just now, with that Easter Bunny story still "fresh" in my mind. I'd been picturing your little white Mary Janes, with those floofy socks and all, mired in the muck, but you seem to be wearing your Easter Dress and hairbows with Oxfords, with the camera angle making them into Clown Shoes. You simply have the talent to bring out the humor and giggles, through thick and thin. I just had to have another look---you're worth every look and read and comment.

You never got to see the Easter bunny haha. What a cute story, Diana. I can just picture you being covered in manure walking home all that way. My horoscope says the bull is stubborn. I prefer to call it determined. ; ) I absolutely love that picture of you and your dog, it's a treasure. I always put the kids' baskets right on the table, so they could see them when they woke up. I never heard of the tale of the Easter bunny hiding them. I hope all is well with you, Diana. Got me curious about the changes going on in your life. : )

This is a wonderful story -- and I think that stubbornness has served you well as you've grown up and in your most recent challenges. I'll look forward to more posts from you and hearing what is happening in your world. I hope it's all good. Happy Easter.
