French Provincial End Table ReDo

Bonjour or Good Morning
French or English- Take your pick..
Want to see what I have been up to?
Pretty darned cute, huh?
Paris inspired!
Simple and sweet.

It didn't start out so cute!
It was REALLY REALLY dirty
and pretty beat up.
I didn't have any white chalk paint
so I scrubbed her down and used good old
Behr ultra white in a semi gloss.
Two coats did it.
There is no distressing on this piece.
Distressing, isn't it?;>)
I lined the drawer with some
"watercolor" wallpaper that I
have had for at least 15 years.
Anyway- I think it turned out pretty cute
and this is going in some sweet girl's
Paris themed bedroom.

And speaking of Paris~
When MyHero and I got married he
promised to take me to Paris for our
5th anniversary.
He came through on his promise. He did!
He took me to Paris.
Paris, Wisconsin!
It coniists of a few houses and
some closed down stores.
How about THIS place?
Now-Look at the top of that picture.
Does it?
Yeah......
Welcome to my world!

Painting A French Phone-Yes I Did

The joke in our family is that if you
stand still long enough you will probably
get spray painted.
As you know-in the past I painted a
TV set here.

TVs? Telephones?
No problem!
Both begin with a T, right?
IF I can paint a TV I can most certainly
paint a TELEPHONE.
See?

Want to see more, do you?

My friend, Ruthie, was donating the phone..
I said...Whoa Baby-
This will be perfect for Lulu's
Paris Themed Bedroom.
You cam see more of that here

It had been stored for a long while
and had yellowed considerably and
was a bit the worse for wear.
Not so pretty there, huh?
I took apart the section that held the numbers
and decided to leave the gold plate that
surrounded the letters.
The gold ring just popped off.
I covered the number with stickers to keep the paint off them.
It was a nice day so I set up outside
because I never spray paint in the garage
I am SUCH a liar
It took 2 light coats of Cream Satin paint.
Look how cute it turned out!
I think Lulu is going to LOVE it, don't you?
If I can part with it!
If she doesn't see this post it's MINE!
oh-yeah- it works...
too bad her parents won't let her have a
 PHONE IN HER ROOM!
It'll look cute just sitting there anyway,
won't it?

Little Lulu's French Themed Bedroom

As  you know,
if you are a regular follower,
(and by regular
 I am not talking bathroom
habits here if you get my drift)
we had a special French themed
birthday party for
Lulu at my house last week.
If you missed it you can see
it here.

She had no idea about the
party because the day before
her Mom surprised her
with a makeover for her room.
She moved into the guest room
across from her sisters' room.
It was all ready for her.
She went out for the afternoon
and when she came home
this is what she saw...
The colors are black and pink
and silver.
Three sweet little chandeliers
hang over this area.
Her bed was dressed with
some stenciling.
And decked in new bedding
in black and white and silver.
Are you awake, sleepy head?
A cube to hold  her treasures.
Mirrors and more~
Her Auntie Mimi painted this
special old window sash
using the Eiffel Tower
for the A in her name.
Lulu wrapped one of the boas
from her birthday party around it
to hold onto the memory
of a fun day.

Is she one lucky little girl...or what?
ha-made you tip your head sideways,
didn't I?
I knew I could!!!!

Ummm...just a reminder...
4 months until Christmas

Alphabet Laughs- L Is For Le French Table

Okay-
You asked for it-
You got it!
That is what
MyHero said to me when
I asked him to trim the
bushes out in front of our
second house.
It was NOT a pretty sight.
So, since then I have
been very careful
about asking for
things that might involve
a saw....or a chipper.
(anyone that saw the movie
FARGO will know what I
am talking about).

HOWEVAH!
You asked me about my
little table-
I am by no means an expert
at furniture fix ups.
I just do what I like.
First off,
I had some
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
(ASCP)
that I used.
That meant I did NOT have
to sand the piece down
beforehand.
I removed the hardware
which looked like this...
You probably all know the trick
of sticking a toothpick
into the little handle hole
to hold it up for spray painting.
Anyway, I decided to reuse the
original hardware and just
spray painted it soft black.

Then I dug out my little cones.
Do you use these?
They lift the piece off the
ground so that you can paint
right to the bottom without
hitting ground zero.
wallah-
Yes-I painted IN THE HOUSE.
shhhhhhh

I washed the piece down with TSP.
I use that because it cuts through
all the crud and gives the piece
a good "grab" for the paint.

I base coated it with
antique white ASCP.
One coat did not quite give
me enough coverage so I
did give it a second coat.
I then used a sanding pad to
lightly sand and smooth
the paint a bit.

Next-I went to
She has the most amazing
images for anything and everything.

I printed out two images
from two different graphics.
I used a very simple transfer
method.
I simply placed a piece of
graphite paper under the
image and traced over it
with a sharp pencil.
I lifted the paper off
and used a
PAINT PEN
to copy over the lines
of the image.
I did Paris first...
Then the laurel design...
Once I paint inked that in
it looked like this....
I then sanded over the design
slightly to give it a
slightly aged look.
I then applied two coats
of paste wax.
I buffed between each coat.
I put THREE coats
on the table top.

All I had to do was
screw the painted hardware
back in place and
Presto-Chango
Here she is!
Purrrrrty cute, huh?
Please ignore the cord hanging
down in back- I have now
fixed that~
So...If I can do this-
Anyone can!
Hmmm...I have noticed that all
the kids are starting to put
their names on pieces of
my "stuff"....
You know....for
"someday".
I better look underneath
and see whose name is
on this one.
Pffffttt.....maybe for a
joke I will leave it to
The Cat!
That'll fix 'em!

If I don't reply to you personally it is because your name does
not come up with an email addy attached on my reader.
Just know that I do send a Thank You to ALL comments
unless it is not listed. Just  know that I want to
Thank all of YOU, too, that don't have your email enabled.

The Party's Over And I Ain't Dead Yet

Wondering what I did with
that table, are you?
Well~Yesterday we had
 a French themed party
here for Little Lulu's
10th Birthday.
How DID she get to be 10?
I am doing a short post
this morning because I
am too tired to do more!
My daughter made these
"flags" for banners on
her computer.
Do you love them?
Lulu was VERY SURPRISED.
She got all choked up and
teary-eyed when she walked
in.
Her babysitter took her
for the day to spend some
special time with her and got
her all dressed up.
Then she brought her here
under the guise of
"showing Nana
how cute you look".

In the entry hall she was
met with this.
There's my table and I
will show you more of that
another day.

A banner across the opening
into the dining room read
CELEBRATE
And one across the family room
fireplace said
BONJOURE
There were roses on two tables.
Where paper plates were
married to white plates
from my everyday set.
 16 friends came to celebrate..
here are the first few arrivals.
We had a beautiful
three tiered cake.
The color is hot pink but
doesn't show up that way here.
And pink malted milk balls
on a tray from my friend,
Is that the perfect tray, or what?
Now..
I am too tired to post more
right now but
SOMEONE
was REALLY EXCITED
while waiting for her sister.
She got her hair cut.
Don't you love her new do?
Sooo...while I would
LIKE to stay and CHAT
I am off for my coffee..
cuz if I don't get my
coffee- it ain't purty..
and that is all I'm gonna
say 'bout that!
Tomorrow-
Day FIVE of the
Giveaway will
continue-
PINKY PROMISE!
