FRIDAY THIS AND THAT- FOOD FROM THE 60s and 70s

I thought it might be fun to
visit the
FOODS SOME OF US  MIGHT REMEMBER.

Let's start with breakfast.
Any of you ever eat these?
OR
Notice how they proudly displayed the word
SUGAR?
LOL-That's a definite NO NO in today's cereal aisle.

After a nice bowl of cereal swimming in
WHOLE MILK
did you wash it down with
OR
one of these?
Maybe mom was downing a quick cup of this-

You went off to school and came home.
Did you have this for an after school snack?
Or maybe this?
CHUCKLES!!!!
Did your mom make this for dinner?
SPAM THE ALMOST HAM

It might have been served with side of this:
Or maybe you were from a modern family
and ate these?
And what did you have for dessert?

After a nice dinner did you sit around and watch
Did you snack on these while watching
the old black and white TV shows?
Or maybe you had a box of
CRACKER JACK
back when they had
REAL PRIZES!
Maybe you washed those down with this...
While mom, being ever weight conscious,
poured this over a glass of ice...
And..sometimes a little milk got heated up
and you drank a cup of this before
going off to bed in a sugar coma.
Feel free to share your own wonderful
food memories!

I will tell you one little 'story'
that I am NOT proud of----
When MAGIC CHARMS came out
I WAS CHARMED!

I ate so many of them at one sitting
that I was sick for 2 days...
yes-indeedy---
To this day I cannot even think about
eating them
without feeling slightly nauseous.
I now call them
YUCKY CHARMS!
So, if that is on your morning breakfast menu,
please take me off the guest list.
Because
TRUST ME-
It will not be pretty if I show up!

Have a great day-
fill it with
GOOD MEMORIES
not like the one I have of
LUCKY CHARMS!

Leave your own memories
in a comment and tell me
what I missed!

DO YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN? CAN I BE A HIPPIE AT THIS AGE? HMMMM...

Well...
Jumping in with both feet
and hoping my butt will follow.

I am sad to say I no longer
have a camera.
I gave two of them away
at Christmas.
I was going to use
MY PHONE
to take back few pics--
Yes! I! Was!

But then-
I surfed the web a bit,
found Pinterest and...
well...here you go.

Here is a day in my
Imaginary Life.
Can I get an Amen to
THAT THOUGHT?
Sometimes all we have to do
is believe in ourselves...
even if others are consumed with
doubt...
I do believe that I CAN!

Morning will find me on my way
to Starbucks or taking a
grandgirl to school.

This is a scene that is common in
our neck of the woods this time of year.
After a drive through
Winter Wonderland,
sipping my hot coffee,
I would love to come home to this
Sweet Tree
holding court on my sun porch.
Walking into my kitchen
I would find these happy
little faces smiling at me.

And, instead of making
hair bows----
I might be tempted to make
a sweet little skirt...
or two...or three....
Won't be making one in my size,
thankyouverymuch,
because I already am
HIPPY enough.

Oh- Hippies---
Remember the 60s & 70s?
I do---
I loved the clothes-
Fortunately,
I missed the drugs and free love
that was part of my generation.
I was
TOO RESPONSIBLE
to do anything too wild.

I am thinking of going back to
being a hippie...
but this is what I am afraid
I would look like now...
Oh! Wait!
I will never be
THAT SKINNY!

Have a good day-
Let your hair down and
have a little fun!

I'll be back in a couple of days
to share what new venture
I have embarked on....
Who says an old dog
can't relearn their old tricks?

More Reminiscing- HAIR-DO'S FROM THE 60s

Well, I did the
No-Boys-Allowed  products of the 60's here
~one about Hair PRODUCTS from the 60's here
~ one about SCENTS of the SIXTIES here
~ one about the CLOTHING of the 60's here

So--Now that we have put on our
SECRET deodorant,
Used enough DIPPTY-DOO
so our hair won't move in a hurricane,
sprayed ourselves with Love's Fresh Lemon scent,
and got our groove on with a Gunne Sax dress-
Let's FIX OUR HAIR,
shall we?

So---
What was popular in the 60's for hairstyles?
We had the TWIGGY cut
which was pretty easy care.
AND we had the BEEHIVE
which took a pound of lacquer hair spray
to hold it in place.
How about THE BOB?
Or did you have the
SPLIT BANG HI-TOP?
You needed one can of Aqua Net
per day for this baby!
We had the long loose look
And-oh-yes-
Let us NOT FORGET
THE BOWS!
There was the BIG BOW style---
And the
LITTLE BOW STYLE
And let's not forget
THE FLIP!
Speaking of FLIP~
Did YOU flip over a BOY that
had a cut like
THIS ONE?
-OR-
Were you more likely to go for a guy that
wore his hair like this?
The "bad boy"?
As for me?
Well, I usually got stuck with someone that
looked like THIS-

How about YOU?
Do you recognize yourself in any of the
1960's hairstyles above?
Or remember seeing pictures of
YOUR MOM like that?
Or scarier still- Your GRANDMOTHER
that looked like any of them?
Spill the beans!

Meanwhile,
I'll be pushing the old beans around
over at the VA this morning...
see you later!
