FUNNY ON FRIDAY- THE SIAMESE TWINS (Or Not)!

After 13 unsuccessful attempts
to separate the Hipsters,
Harry and Harriet finally
decided they were through
with surgeries.
It was the first known case
of fraternal twins that were
actually co-joined and
was considered the
first documented case
in medical history.
And, although they never married
their lives were rich and full.
Over the years,
they built an empire around
their fine wine business.
The only real problems they
encountered were the
airplane bathrooms
when they flew overseas on
business trips.

An Award? Me? Why Me? It's Because Of Sunshine

Well, I don't really do the awards thingy anymore
BUT
I promised Jann
that I would.
One of the reasons I decided to do it
is because.... well...
because Jann is SO nice..
and also because it is the
SUNSHINE award.

My old neighbors, Toddy & Carl, always
called me
SUNSHINE...
(along with various other names when
they were "in the cups" if you know
what I mean)

So -Here it is-
my answers for
The Sunshine Award
questions~

1.  Favorite color:  Green & (since I have had granddaughters-Pink)
2.  Favorite number:  8   (using my birthday all those numbers add up to 8)
3.  Favorite animal: Human or otherwise?   Hmmm...I love kitties and miss my own.
4.  Favorite non alcoholic drink: Are you kidding me?  Starbucks sugar-free vanilla latte
5.  Facebook or Twitter:  Neither- I am old school.  If you want to know something- CALL me!
6.  What is my passion:  Being a Nana to my grands, gardening, sewing, BLOGGING..
7.  Favorite day of the week: Monday- I know- crazy, huh?  It's kind of like I get a do-over!
8.  Favorite Pattern:  Simplicity....hahahaha-I know what you want... Florals-I love florals.
9.  Receiving or Giving: Giving- I am a great giver but a poor receiver. I always feel guilty
10:  Favorite Flower:  Lilacs in the Spring followed by roses and peonies...oh-and I
love those sweet little violets.

That's it- That's all she wrote- or all I wrote~

Now, here's the deal...
if any of you newer bloggers would like to do
this simply copy and paste the questions to
your own blog and put in your own answers...
unless, of course, you want to use my answers...bwhahahaha
If you take the award
and do your own list, let me know
and I will do a link
to your post.

Have a great day everyone and spread
A LITTLE SUNSHINE
to those around you!
Got it?  Okay- Start NOW!

And...if you promise not to sneak down
to the kitchen at night and eat the last
brownie in the pan and swear it
was gone BEFORE you went to bed
 well...THEN...I will
show you something special
in kinda in the playhouse-
tomorrow!

Random Facts-I LOVE ROSES

I kind of  quit doing this but when
 Marti over @ Marti's Musings
 tagged me I thought
I would play along one more time.
I don't want to put others on the spot
so anyone that would like
 to take these questions and
answer them on their own blog
is welcome to do so.
 This is especially fun
if you are a newer blogger.
  If you do so
please leave me a note so
that I can post a link to your blog.
Hopefully, you will get a few new followers.

1. Where do you like to vacation? Florida in the winter and the UP in the summer/fall months.

2. Do you have pets?  No- Not anymore.  Since we put our last kitty down I just haven't had the heart to get another.  Plus, 2 of our kids have serious allergies to animals.

3. What is your favorite color?  It changes from time to time.  My wardrobe holds a lot of green/black/beige/gray- boring...I am boring..

4. How many are in your family?  We have 4 kids, 10 grandkids and one more baby on the way and I have one sibling-a wonderful brother.

5. What is your least favorite thing to do?  I am trying to think of something I really dislike...hmmmm...GOT IT!   I hate to put the clean dishes away out of the dishwasher.  I know, I know, weird, huh?

6. What is your most favorite thing to do?  I am hard pressed to pick just one?  Spend time with family is number one...but I also love to read, drive, sew, paint and oh...I could go on and on...Guess I will stop here.

7. If money were no object what would you like to do when you retire? Do a lot of traveling, take my kids/grandkids traveling/ help others get a start on their "dream" by making them loans/investments.

8. What is your favorite season?  Fall- I love Fall-followed closely by Christmas.

9. What book are you currently reading? I just picked up John Grishams latest.  I read a LOT of magazines, too

11.How long have you been blogging?  2 years!  WOW- Is that even possible?

11 Random things about me~

1.  I am a happy person and find joy in even the small things in life.
2.  I hate to admit that I don't feel well even if I am in pain- It makes me feel weak & I don't want to be  "that person" that is always talking about HEALTH issues!
3.  I am looking forward to some new ventures/adventures this year.
4.  I love a clean/orderly house.  The worst part of creativity to me is the mess...BUT  I don't mind one bit when the grandkkids mess up my house.
5.  I love roses- absolutely LOVE them..and lilacs!
6.  I just about always wear black- usually paired with another color.
7.  I have not had any sugar or white flour since July 18, 2011.
8.  I love fresh linens on my bed.  If I weren't so lazy I would change them everyday.
9.  I love to make people smile.
10. I often create in my mind but son't always apply that creativity to a project- Laziness?
11. I believe in the power of prayer...that miracles can, and do, happen.

So...now...some of you...copy and paste the questions below and come back and tell me that you are doing this and I will post a link to your blog!  I am using Marti's questions because I think they are such good ones.  Then tell us 11 random things about yourself.  If you want to play by the rules you are supposed to tag 11 other people.  I am not a very good rule follower-  Sad, huh?  Anyway, Please grab the questions and try it!   It'll be fun- xo Diana

One Lovely Blog Award-Huh?

Yeah...yeah...
You girls know the rules...
Most of you do anyway..
Ya gotta grab this button..
and then spill your guts..
about 7 things no one
knows about you.
Yeah...but if I TELL them
then they'll KNOW?
Is that how this works?
Well...leave it up to Laurie
to stick me with this sucker.
She is just trying to find out my
secrets so she can blackmail me..
I know her better than she thinks I do!

So...after I confess my every sin and unmentionable act..
What? Oh! It's not THAT kind of things you want to know?
Well...it IS...you know it is...but..baby..
THAT ain't gonna happen..
No sireeee...You are getting the watered down
version of my life.
Anyway...AFTER this I get to stick some other
poor unsuspecting soul with the task of
revealing everything they dare tell about themselves.
Ok-then...GAMES ON!
Ready?

1. Back in "the day"-don't you love that expression..Anyway, back in the day
when I was young and cute...
my first big REAL job was working for WBBH TV20
in Ft.Myers, FL. I even made a few little commercials
and was the Lee Carpet Girl (Lord how embarrassing that sounds now)
for a while.

2. I rode in the Edison Parade of Lights (in a ball gown)
on a float with Ronald McDonald. Nuff said!

3. I was the first WOMAN sales rep in the Southern USA for
Georgia-Pacific corp. I sold lumber to MEN in a world where
WOMEN did not sell LUMBER to men.
That's where I met MyHero...I'm not sure who sold whom a bill
of goods. (don't you love working whom into a sentence)

4. I was decorating before it became a "craze". I talked my
friend in Florida into selling all her fine things and she "countried up"
her house. Her relatives came from out of state and asked her if they had
lost all their money and did they have enough to eat...
yeah...I'm still laughing about that!

5. Hmmmm...this is no easy task...it's like..okay..I COULD
tell this..but do I really want people to KNOW...yeah..
Let's see....Working at my job in the hospital is one of the most
rewarding things I have ever done...it is also one of the most
heartbreaking...sometimes I go into the back room so I don't lose
it in front of a patient.

6. I like to drive. I drive everywhere. MyHero likes to ride. He rides everywhere.
I am the Princess Driver. I think it would be fun to drive one
of those stinking tourist buses around and tell people facts about the area.
I would have to live somewhere else to do this because this area is
all about the PACKERS. And I dunno nothin' bout those Packers. All I know is that Brett Favre (whose name is not pronounced like it is spelled) left the Packers.
I know there was a lot of whining and gnashing of teeth when that happened.
I know that when the Packers lose the Emergency Room is
extra busy. I know that they should have
a sign at the city limits that says.
You don't like football?
Please catch the next plane out of town.
You are not welcome here.
And that's about all I know about football.

7. I have found a whole new world here in Blogland. I can finally amuse someone
besides myself...and MyHero...who only thinks I
am funny on occassion. However, he dutifully laughs
because he likes clean undershorts and pressed shirts. Amen.

TA-DAH!
Now..here you go..
The next poor suckers to get this award are...
(as they say in the Acadamy Awards...in NO particular order)

1. MySummerhouse. Laura is just a sweetheart of a girl. She is a beautiful person
who knows the depth of life and loss and her blog is lovely...and so is she.

2. Bella'sRoseCottage Hosted by the Beautiful Bella (who else). Her blog is
as pretty as she is. You will find tea and treasures (including her).

3. SoManyThingsToLove Gabriele Augustini (doncha love that name)..it sounds
like she'a an exotic princess (or exotic dancer?-just sayin...) but NO she
is a painter of silk-the likes of which you have never seen.
But don't be calling her Gabby cuz she does NOT like that.
And don't let her painted potato head scare you away..scroll down to
the silk scarf-oh yeah....baby!

4. ACottageMuse Sandi (whose name should be Sandirella or something
swirly and ruffly like that) has a dreaming-of-white blog. You will love her
thrift shop finds.

You know the worst part of this whole thing is deciding who gets
The Award
There are SOOO many people out there that deserve an award..
it's like how do I begin to pick?
So...I picked those that have been commenting..
and following...
There were those that I would have liked to give it to that
have a NO AWARDS sticker...
Yeah...they probably got stuck doing this about a
gazillion times and now they are ashamed of
spilling the beans about themselves...
or...some of them could be wanted by
the IRS and don't want to make themselves
too available...
And there are those that have so many followers that
I figured they have done this more than they ever
hoped they would have to...so I hesitated to ask them...
Well, whatever...
Just know that if you have found me here
I love having you here and will
do my best to include you
in any way I can..
so...if I didn't give you
an award...
and you thinkyou deserve one..
please send me cash...
I might get another chance to do this.
Yeah...maybe...

And, Laurie...Thank You-love you girl!

Drumroll Please-I Got An Award

I got this lovely award from a friend that writes a wonderful blog about her grandchildren
MiMi's Mini Tales(and as I now know, another blog-who knew?)
Anyway, the link to her blog is here
(I hope I did that right) Thank you for the Award-What a delightful surprise!!
Anyway!!! I am supposed to write 7 things about myself that most people don't know.
I did one of these when I first started so will try to make this one a bit different.
1. I am a happy-go-lucky person and like to do spur of the moment things. However,
I am very organized so this is a direct contradiction to my inner self.
I go/do anyway-planned or not.
2. I just had a breast biopsy. I had a mammogram and there was something suspcious.
Please, please, please get yearly mammograms.
I know they are no fun...and I know they are not exactly the way you want to spend an hour....but...do it anyway.
I only told one friend and she has been praying for me. Prayer works!
My "tumor" was just an odd little cyst. I am blessed!
3. My children are one of the biggest joys of my life. The grandchildren are THE biggest joy of my life. They make me laugh & cry with happiness. They complete my life. If I never do another thing right~I want them to know that I love them unconditionally..always~
4. I love my home. Even though we have moved many, many times over the years, the house I am IN is always HOME to me. I can make a house feel like it belongs to me within hours of moving in. I keep saying this will be my "last" house. I quit saying that on House #12.
5. I am in the process of planning to open a shop with my daughter. It is exciting AND scary. We are going to have to make a decision and then go with it. We have been waffling back and forth-should we? Shouldn't we? Dare we? Do we?
We will decide this week.
6. I have the ability to "read" people. It is like I can see through the layers to the heart of the person. My gut instinct is just about always right. I have learned to trust it and follow that instinct. My husband has finally (after 35 years) realized that this women's intuition thing works.
7. I have a wicked sense of humor. I can find humor even under duress. The doctor that did my biopsy is not one of those warm, Dr. Marcus Welby types. When he told me that I was going to have a "puncture type scar" I told him that I guessed I wouldn't be wearing my string bikini the rest of the season. I told him that was going to disappoint a lot of people. THAT made him laugh....so then I wondered if he was lauging AT me or WITH me...Hmmm...
So, that concludes this presentation of ME, MYSELF & I.
Now I would like to pass this award along to some other wonderful bloggers that I have met.
I enjoy these ladies' blogs and know you will too...so..without further ado-
First-One of the very first people I really connected with- Laurie over at Heaven's Walk
Second-Debbie (that I found through Laurie) @ Lakehouse
Third-WeeFaerie-She has the most amazing photos and is just a beautiful person-Here
And last but not least- I just found (and love) Laura over at Summerhouse
So that's it, folks.
Drop by anytime...you never know what secrets I will have to tell~

I've Been Zapped...or Zipped...or Something...

My daughter, Mimi, (author of IfSheCanFigureItOut) has zapped me with this little thingy over here. Not quite sure WHAT it is called...but I am now supposed to humor her (and you) with 7 FACTS about myself.

Fact#1- I am too skinny to take a nice photo of...the angles of my cheeks leave a sharp line to the jaw and shadow my face down to nothing so I look like skin and bones.......OKAY-OKAY- I LIED~

TRUE fact #1- It is hard for me to take any time for myself. If there is something that I feel needs to be done, around the house or for someone else, I will do that before I allow myself time just for me...does that make any sense? I feel guilty just sitting down to watch TV or read a book. AND...as soon as I DO sit down MyHero walks in and says..."Oh! Looks like you are having a nice relaxing day. What did you do?" Remember the sharp stick? Yeahh...that one...poke in eye.....

#2- I love being by the water-lake, river, ocean...however, I do NOT like being out ON the water where I am not close to land. I do love a big boat but I like it moored to a pier...no motors? Perfect! (I have had several VERRRY interesting boating experiences-that involved being stranded)

#3-I work in a hospital and I love my job~even though I sometimes have horrendous hours and work 6 or 7 days in a row...I love it. I thought that I would be retired by this age but...here I am...plugging away.

#4-I am finding that I love to write. I wish I could write something that would touch people and make a difference in their lives.

#5-I have a hard time admitting that I don't always feel 100% okay (physically). That means that I do not like to have people "do for" me. I love helping others but I hate to ask anyone to help me.

#6- I love life. I know people say that all the time but I truly FEEL it. I love waking up in the morning to see what the day holds for me. I love the beauty of the sun coming up and moving across the sky. I love to watch the waves ripple across the water-the birds that fly and swoop between house and feeders. I love the beauty of the flowers and the sun setting over the Bay. I love the interaction between children and grandchildren with all the ups and downs of daily life.

#7-I don't like to share sadness with people. Happiness? Get your rubberized underwear on & prepare to laugh so hard it hurts.....but I like to grieve privately and I think sometimes people might take that for indifference. It isn't-it is just the way I cope with loss. One of the biggest joys in my kids' lives is to try to "make Mom cry" ~I should have beat them more when they were little~!

So, there you have it...you now know me better than many of my intimate friends do! I have to figure out now how to pass this thing on to other bloggers. Bear with me while I learn my way around BlogWorld!
