A PERFECTLY PINK BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR BABY BRIGHT EYES

This is a long post with
lots of pictures.
Get yourself some coffee
and sit a spell.

Our Sweet Little
BRIGHT EYES
turned one!
That certainly is a cause for celebration.
One BIG REASON for
THE CELEBRATION
is that Mama & Daddy had
decided
No More Babies.

SURPRISE! SURPRISE!
THE BEST SURPRISE
in the world came along!
And, on the 11th she turned ONE!

Mama Mimi put on a most wonderful party.
I took so many pictures that I am going
to condense them into manageable bites for you.

The decorations were beautiful.
Balloons hanging from the ceiling,
pink flowers and picture collages
and a high chair dressed in a tulle skirt..
There was a full meal and then a
CANDY BAR set up filled with
PINK CANDY, of course!
Everyone had so much fun.
We put Bright Eyes in her tutu-skirted chair
to wait for something special.
Here it is !
The highlight of the day was
BABY'S OWN CAKE!
She looked around and didn't quite know
what to do with it.
AH-HA!
After a bit of encouragement
she decided she could EAT the cake.
However, being the dainty little miss she is,
she did NOT want to get her hands dirty.
She NEVER TOUCHED the cake
with her hands!
It was so funny to watch her.
We were all laughing so she laughed, too.

After cake it was time for a
SINK BATH.
Can you see all those curls when her hair
is freshly washed?
That is just like her Mama's was when she was little.
This was her present from me & Papa.
An American Girl Bitty Baby.
We always give one to each grandgirl for her
first birthday.
She is inspecting her new baby here.
Deciding whether she loves the baby....
Deciding she loves it enough to give it a kiss.
She got lots of kisses, too.
No one loves Bright Eyes any better than her
COUSIN LULU.
Speaking of LULU----
Let me tell you-
NEVER leave your PHONE where a LULU
can get ahold of it...
or, as we like to call her, the
SELFIE QUEEN!
Why, you ask?
Well, because when you get home and
check your pictures you will find
several hundred photos that look
something like this!
And now you know how she got her
NICKNAME!
She is DEFINITELY a
LULU!

Have a great Monday.
I'll be around checking on you all today!

ps. SweetCheeks spent the night with me.
We might have had a
PINK PUKER IN THE BED
along about midnight.
Thank you so much for serving all
that delicious candy in unlimited
amounts, Mimi.
You are such a good hostess.

Gotta love a
PINK PUKER!
She had a miraculous healing when it was
time to go see the new
CINDERELLA MOVIE!

FRIDAY THE 13th AND MY SUPERSTITION ABOUT #13

Yesterday I told you I was Irish.
You KNOW that the Irish
are a superstitious lot, right?
Well, I don't have
MANY superstitions but I
DO NOT LIKE
the #13.
Did you notice that SUPERSTITIONS has THIRTEEN LETTERS? creepy, huh?
Did the Devil do that just for me?
Moving on---
I would NEVER live in THIS HOUSE!
You will learn something new about me today.

I count things!
Yes.I.Do.
There!  I've said it.
MY SECRET IS OUT.
I have a bit of OCD.

However, I do NOT count EVERYTHING.
But- I do count things like STEPS!
We have moved MANY TIMES over the years
and rehabbed MANY HOUSES
BUT
I won't buy a house that has
THIRTEEN STEPS!
That is just ASKING FOR IT
if you ASK ME!
There is just something
CREEPY and UNLUCKY
about the #13 to me.
Even writers like James Patterson
know that is true.
I love a good old scary movie..
The Shining,
Poltergeist,
The Changeling.
So-it is nothing to do with being scared.
It is just a quirk of mine.
It is mine and I claim it.

It MyHero wants to get rid of me
all he would have to do is
have a tattoo like this.....
I don't know where this is on that guy's body
and don't WANT to know-thank you!
I see some of you are emailing MyHero right now.
So-There you have it!
Here's my advice to YOU for the day.
OH! NO!
Just realized I have to pick the girls up from
school today for the weekend.
Wish me
Good Luck........
and if I don't come back...
wellll......my luck ran out!

It would be just like
MyHero to bury me under this sign.

If he did I would come back to haunt him.....
Maybe I will anyway---just for fun.

Happy First Birthday Little Bright Eyes!

What can I say?
I think ALL of my grandkids are beautiful.
There is something special and "sparkly" about
Baby Bright Eyes.
Here she is at just a few days old
when we brought her home from the hospital.
Can you see she was smiling even then?
Still smiling here....
She has been the best baby ever.
Always happy...
She is so healthy and we are so grateful.
She is sweet in her pink hat...
And solemnly sweet in her
little white outfit.
Happy, Happy Birthday,
Baby Bright Eyes!

I love you to the moon and back.

We're celebrating on Saturday
so I'll have some
PINK PARTY PICTURES
come Monday.

Jan's Bathroom Remodel- GREAT Before & Afters

Quite a while ago I helped my friend,
Jan make some decisions
on her kitchen remodeling project.
We also revamped her living room a bit
because it flows into the kitchen/dinette area.
There is a post about that project here.

You know I am a coffee drinker, right?
I KNOW you know THAT!
You know what coffee drinkers need, right?
Yeah- BATHROOMS!

Well, let me tell you something,
Jan's bathroom needed a makeover
even worse than her kitchen.
as much as her kitchen did..
I was nice enough to point that out to her here.

Anyway, how do you like THIS?
Isn't it classic and gorgeous?
We decided on a black and white color scheme.
Do you see the shelves above the toilet?
You can cut the drywall out between the studs
and gain about 3-1/2" of depth for shelving.
They do that for medicine cabinets all the time
and you can do it for shelving, too.

Here is what she started out with.
The window was replaced
with a waterproof one that still lets in light
but doesn't give the local
Peeping Tom a show,
There was new white subway tile put in.
The wallpaper was all stripped away.

This was the old vanity and countertop:
Makes you want to poke your eye out with a stick, huh?
Ain't never gonna be 1970 again.....
Janet was ready for a change.
We went from that to this:
Jan's son, Nate, came home for two weeks
and did this project for her.
Isn't he a great son?
He does this sort of remodeling for a livelihood.

The walls are a soft grey.
Jan likes purple (cuz she's a royal kinda gal)
and pulled some nice pops of purple into the room

No more THIS!
Look at that Jan- she jumps into the picture
every chance she gets!
Oh- she is gonna KILL ME-
more than once!
.But she will calm down
as soon as she slips into her new
spa-like bath retreat.
After our discussion(s)
Jan picked out everything herself.
She has really good taste
and just needs to trust her own instincts.

Her hubby is my hubby's best friend.
That's MyHero and Mikey.

I wonder if that
SPA TUB
is big enough for both of them?
OH! There's another "picture" that makes me want to
poke my eyes out!

Have a great Monday.
Pick a project and go for it!

A Shamrock Kind Of Sunday To You And A Little Limerick

There once was a Nana named Diana,
That had a grandgirl named Anna,
To honor the sweet miss,
She set up a dish,
But forgot to put out the banana.

Ah-yes---I might have neglected to get a
BANANA
but I did remember to make
SHAMROCK COOKIES!
they are the blob to the left on the plate
Bet you want to see more of that
cute little table,
don't you?

Well, that is not gonna happen today.
I do, however, have another
LITTLE LIMERICK
for you.

MyHero said- Let's go for a ride,
We'll rent a room-it'll be exciting inside,
So I said, Yes, with a grin,
but found much to my chagrin,
He had forgotten the TV guide.
Welcome to MY EXCITING life..

Have a wonderful EXCITING Sunday!
Hope you remembered to set your clock ahead.

Poor Little Sick Boy-Charles-In-Charge & Big Bro & Baby Sis

The other day Charles-In-Charge
was doing this-
This poor little 3 year old is
NOT FEELING WELL.
Poor little guy.
You can tell he has a fever-
look at those pink cheeks.
Sleep is a good thing when you are sick.
That is something I have a hard time doing.
Looks like he has it nailed.
Sometimes the boys nap together.
Isn't that sweet- two little brothers
all snugged down for a nap?

You already know everyone in the family
is gonna get "it" anyway, right?
However, Big Boy E,
isn't sick.
After a nap he is good to go.
They are sliding down the "hill"
by the snow bank next to their drive.
The perfect size "downhill"
for a little Miss's first ride.
I wish she was a happier child!
We don't let MyHero go sledding.
We feel he is safer on a bike.

You all have a safe day out there.

ps.  Don't forget to set your clocks ahead tonight.

Finish It Up Friday-Finishing Up Disney and -Me On My Ass(No I am NOT swearing)

Here we go !
I am cleaning out the picture files
and YOU, you lucky dog,
get to see them.

Well, you are going to see the
OTHER STUFF
first before you see me on my ass.

There are a few Disneys that I wanted to post
and didn't before.
Here are the three girls with Pooh Bear.
I dearly love Pooh!
I love that SweetCheeks,
with her gappy-missing-teeth little smile,
 is laughing right out loud.
Then, of course, Tigger got equal hugs!
I won't say that MyHero doesn't "get it"
but look at SweetCheeks looking at Papa (far left)
as Tigger is trying to get him to high five.
He FINALLY "gets it"
AFTER SweetCheeks yells,
"PAPA!  High Five!"
There was a very awkward hug afterwards that
we all laughed about but failed to capture in a photo
You know how they say everyone has a double?
That they have someone in the world that looks just like them?
Yes- Well, my daughter found hers.
She needs to pull her glasses down on her face though
for the full effect.
And, before you see me on my ass,
you get to see
SweetCheeks on
Dumbo The Flying Elephant!
And now, ladies and gentlemen,
here it is!
Here is what you have all been waiting for!
This is me on my ass.
I was 7 years old and her name was Roxie!
(sorry Roxie-no insult meant- that really was her name)
I love that my mother always had us squinting into the sun.
Roxie's most endearing trait was
that when she was tired of
you being on her back
she would lie down and roll-
which forced you off her back.
Then she would leave you
off in a field somewhere
while she hightailed it
back to the barn.
And you wonder why I turned out the way I did?
Now you know!

ps.  MyHero said-This is a terrible post
you just like saying THAT word.
You are going to lose followers
no one with any class
is going to follow you anymore.
I said- They left a long time ago.
He said- Well-You DO
just like saying THAT word!
I smiled...and said...wait for it...
You bet your a as butt I do!;>)

pps. Roxie was really a burro...
