Christmas In The Sitting Room Part One

As most of you know,
we completely remodeled this house
when we moved in.
The sitting room now
used to be the dinette.
One of these days I really
must do a post on the
makeovers we did here.
Anyway,
I put a sculpted stone fireplace
in here-
It is open on both sides,
the other side being the
dining room.
Above the mantle is a picture
the kids gifted me with
I love the image but not the
brassy finish on the frame.
Annie Sloan Antique White
dry brushed gives it a whole
new look and tones it down.
This sits in the center of the
mantle in the sitting room.
I picked up the colors in the painting
in the faux hydrangeas and candles.
The crystal candelabra came from
Gramma Hazel.  They were part of
her wedding gifts.
I was honored to receive them
when she passed away.
They keep company with two
angel babies that flank the
mantle.
It makes me smile to sit in this
room surrounded by things I love.
These are Martha Stewart
stockings that I got on closeout
about 6 or 7 years ago.
I wish they had more of them.
This is the room with the little
white TV that I painted.
You can read about that here.

This statue is one I love.
It weighs about 30+ pounds
and is beautifully finished.
It is grey and kind of hard to
photograph.
Another glance before you go.
The pictures were taken after dark
so I know they are a bit fuzzy.
Tomorrow- Lord willing and
the creek don't rise,
I will show you the bay window
in here with the antique
feather tree that belonged
to Grandmother Clara.
Now....where did I put the
charger for my camera?
Uh-Oh!!!!!
your photo name

Decorating for Christmas always puts me in the mood to repaint my home interior. (It's not like I don't do that all the time anyway, but it always gets me to looking at the room sin different ways again). Have a great weekend! Happy Friday!!

What a gorgeous room, Diana! The painting is so beautiful, and you are right, the white paint really tones down that gold frame. Love it! And The crystal candle holders are such a wonderful family heirloom. I also really love your angels. What a peaceful room, I would spend alot of time in there! And a white painted tv? I have got to learn to do some crafting....well, maybe I can just send it to you, and let you work on the finishes for me...Yeah, that's what I'll do, be looking for a huge truck to drive into your driveway, and start unloading things.

Pretty, like it all but love those candle sticks. Glad I don't have to clean or store them- would make me a nervous wreck.

Oh Diana, I love your mantel. For some reason, I have a thing for mantels and front porches. The picture the kids gave you is so pretty, and the statue I love. It must be so cozy just sitting in your room thinking of all of your loved ones, AND taking a break from it all hehe. Thank for showing us bits of your home. You have alot of great ideas.

The candelabras are gorgeous. Your whole mantel is gorgeous though. It looks very festive for the season without puking Christmas red and green all over the place.

Hi Diana, Lovely decorations; I have a picture that is similar to yours-but two little girls having tea. The frame is a big gold one that doesn't really fit in with our decor now, so it sits down in the basement. Love all your touches.

Everything is lovely Diana. Your Martha Stewart stockings are so pretty and it's nice to have the memorable pieces that you've received over the years :)

The Anne S. paint is amazing isn't it? I've used graphite to paint some frames and they turned out perfectly.

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the seasonal activities with your family.
