PICK YOUR FAVORITE - Father's Day Table

How often do we set the table with the
MEN IN OUR LIVES
in mind?

Me?
Not often!
For me it is about making the table PRETTY.
MyHero?  Not so much into pretty
(unless it looks like a woman-lol-
Hey-he might be OLD but he is NOT DEAD YET)

Anyway,
I thought it would be fun to choose
a masculine setting for
FATHER'S DAY!

You get to choose- the table and the male
you would like sitting there with you---
hubby, son, dad, best friend,
neighbor, mailman, undertaker--
you get the idea---your choice.

So---off we go~

#1
Tie A Yellow Bow
(into a napkin)

#2-
NO BOOS FOR BLUES
and no booze for Daddy either

#3
MAD FOR NAVY PLAID
Or just MAD period cuz they forgot Dad's spoon...

#4
NOT TEED OFF YET
for the hacker who can't wait to leave the table and go golfing

#5
NO CRABBY DADS ALLOWED
Crabby Dads will be assigned their own table in the corner

#6
Beachy Bobbers
And I am not even going to make a Boobie joke..

And- LAST but not LEAST
#7
MISTER MUSTACHE
For the man that wishes he could grow facial hair-
Okay- I lied!
That was NOT the last one.
This one is!

#8
Captain Of His Own Destiny
For the Dad that wants to eat with his 50 closest friends.
Please note- this one comes complete with server~
So-There you have it ladies.
Play along if you like...
If you DON'T like we can sit you
at the corner with CRABBY DAD...
and you know how much fun THAT will be!

Have a great Friday!

Sunset On The Bay and GOOD NEWS ABOUT SANDIE/CHATTY CRONE!

We have some of the most amazing sunsets
over the Bay in front of our house.
It can be dark and dreary for most of the day
and just before sunset it will clear
and we will get a sunset that ends like this.
The color is exactly as it appeared
straight from the camera.

It started like this...
The sun still just a bit above water level behind
a bit of cloud cover.
Slowly the color deepened.
And the sky glowed brighter still.
Then the sky darkened and the glow began to fade.
Another beautiful day has ended.

And HERE is my WONDERFUL NEWS!
You all turned out to pray for Sandie the other day.
Here is the note I got from her daughter, Kelly,
last night.

I can't thank everyone  enough for all your prayers for my mom.  The doctors said they finished early and that it went well.  The preliminary report suggests it had not spread to nodes!!  Final report in about 5 days.  They said she did great!!  Now to the healing process.....

PRAISE GOD

Thank you for all your prayers!!  Kelly

God bless you, Sandie,
I can't wait to see a post from you again!
Thank you EVERYONE
for all the prayers and
good thoughts sent her way.

See y'all later today.
I have the Sisters Three here
for a couple of days.
My Three Little Cookie Makers!
They might make YOU a special treat
if you are
very, very good!
Ha!  THAT is gonna be hard for some of you!
Guess I just might have to eat
YOUR share!;>)

My NEW New Dawn Rose

Well, I lured you in, didn't I?
Do you see this rose?
Isn't it a BEAUTY?
It is a NEW DAWN rose!
Isn't it GORGEOUS?
Sadly, it is NOT my own~

But- I have GREAT HOPES- Yes! I! Do!
I came home to find THIS on my front porch.
Opening the box was a wonderful surprise.
There was a healthy WET bare root rose inside.
Healthy and gorgeous!

Yep- While Dave's New Dawn looks like this~
This is how MINE looks!
See it there, do you?
Did you know that New Dawn likes SHADE?
So, the roots are shaded with mulch right now.
I promise YOU that IT has promise.

Meanwhile, the Tansy is keeping it company.
 AND
I bought some poppies.
My mother always grew poppies..
I had planted 2 really healthy little
POPPY PLANTS.
See them here?
Not so healthy now, huh?
You, too, can have poppies that look like these.
How?  I'll send MyHero over with his
handy-dandy little
WEED KILLER SPRAYER
and no instructions.

And that's all I'm gonna say about that!

Please Pray For Our Blogging Sister- Sandie The Chatty Crone

Well, friends, I am coming to you with a
SPECIAL REQUEST today.

is having some serious surgery
tomorrow.
She said-I'd love prayers but please
don't make a BIG DEAL about ME!
What?
Seriously?

Sandie is a wonderful, warm, caring blogger.
One that truly cares about
ME AND OTHER PEOPLE.
I, in turn, care about her.
So, to me- Cancer surgery is
A PRETTY BIG DEAL-
Don't you agree?

She is not blogging for a bit because of the surgery
but she said she would pop in here and check messages.

Could you please leave her a message here that you
are praying for her -or -
send healing thoughts her way?
I will leave it in your hands to do what you do best.

I am praying the doctors get it all and that it has not
spread to her lymph nodes-
that is the best case scenario-
other than a complete healing, that is.

Sandie-We're rooting for you, my friend.
This is the opening line on her daily blog....

Joy is the serious business of Heaven

Gotta love a gal that thinks like that!

Baby Bright Eyes And A Baptism And A Bat

We had SUCH a nice day!
Our sweet little
BABY BRIGHT EYES got BAPTIZED

I am gonna apologize right up front for
the quality of these pictures-I don't
know WHAT happened-
but, they are worse than usual...
and-yes-that IS possible!

I did NOT get very good pictures of her in the
Christening Gown
so I will post some of those when I get the ones
my daughter took.
The service started with this-
After her Godparents answered some questions
she was baptized.
Here she is on the altar at the baptismal fountain
with Mom & BigBoyE.
Yes- that is my daughter's REAL hair color and the
curls are all natural.
Although the sun is hitting it here and making it GLOW!
People always ask. her about her hair.
.Here is a true fact~
When she was about 3 years old someone asked her
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT RED HAIR?
She responded:
I was running through HELL and my hair caught fire!
We have no idea, to this day, where she heard
that or why she said it....
That's our Mimi -
or Naughty Mouth as we used to call her.
.
After the service the pastor sat down on the altar
and told the "little people"
that were sitting on the floor
watching the whole process
all about BAPTISM.
Isn't that sweet?

Afterwards~ we went back to my daughter's house
for a seriously
DELICIOUS BRUNCH.
There was quiche and fruit and
strawberry spinach salad
and a waffle bar and cake.
Someone who shall remain nameless CJK
MIGHT  have stuck a finger in the frosting...
See the evidence for yourself...
The finger might be licked clean but AH-HA
CAUGHT!!!
The whole house was decorated beautifully
for our little girl's special day.
If you are smart you can
FIGURE OUT what
Baby Bright Eye's REAL NAME is!

There were sweet little tulle bows here and there.
She was awake for the service
and for a while afterwards.
I love the way her little tongue is always
peeking out of her mouth.

Mama put her down in her swing and
she slept the afternoon away.

AND
Lest you think I was the OLD BAT in the heading
I want you to know that someone else was
THE BAT today.
WHO but MY SON would show up wearing
BAT WINGS?

I guess he misread the invitation.
Hey, dopey- It was a BAPTISM
NOT a
BAT-TISM!

WHO Wears White Other Than A Bride? How About a BABY?

Well, my friends~

We have something special going on this weekend.
Yes We Do!

Can you guess where I am going?
I am taking this with me!
Our Baby Bright Eyes is getting christened.
Yes she is!

Her name has been added
to the bottom of the gown,
along with those that were baptised before her.
My oldest son & his baby sister
were baptised together
in 1976!
Their names  and birth date were the first ones embroidered
on the bottom of the gown.
I made the gown and the matching coat
when I was pregnant.
I wanted an heirloom that
could be handed down from
generation to generation.

Here is the top of the  coat.

Here is a bit of the detailing on the sleeves
The lace is Irish lace from my
grandmother's sewing basket.
Here is the bottom of one side of the coat.
This is the best I could do to get the whole thing
laid out.
Down one side took me 72 hours to embroider.
The coat is lined and the dress has an attached slip.
Everything is French seamed.
This is the bottom of the dress pulled back to
show the slip.
There are now 16 names embroidered on the bottom
of this gown that was made with a
Vintage Vogue pattern.
It is about 3 feet long from top to bottom.
So....tomorrow....
our sweet little Bright Eyes will be
CHRISTENED in the same gown her Mama wore 37 years ago.
WHAT?  OH! MY!
How did I get to be this old?

Oh- and what does one wear
UNDER a CHRISTENING GOWN?
Why a cute little Onesie, of course!
Here is CharlesInCharge who took his turn 2 years ago.
I can't wait to see our little
BRIGHT EYES
all dressed for her christening.
I wonder if she will sleep through it?

So- I will be home late Sunday night.
Leave the light on for me, will ya?

Have a wonderful weekend!
Pictures on Monday!

FINISH IT UP FRIDAY-More Random Nonsense

Well, I see you came back around again.
Just can't stand not knowing
WHAT KIND OF NONSENSE
I am going to be throwing out there, can you?

Ready?
Here we go!

This is a French Lilac just about
ready to open.
The blooms are HUGE-but there are only two.
I am talking at least 16 inches for each bloom.

This happened on Mother's Day
at the Algoma, WI beach.
Lulu, Ria & SweetCheeks made it.
It says MOM!
There better be one just a couple steps over
that said NANA...
and that's all I'm gonna say about that!
We went out on my son & daughter-in-law's pontoon boat the other evening.
This is Bird Island.
All those THINGS are NOT ROCKS.
They are birds.
Let's just say you want to stay
UPWIND from this place on a hot day.
Here are Papa & CJK
chatting each other up on the ride.
Isn't that a dear picture?
THE NEXT DAY IT STORMED.
When the rain comes in off the bay it comes down in sheets!
It is hard to tell where the water ends and the sky begins.
Speaking of SHEETS!
I see someone has crawled under them AGAIN!
I have threatened to smother him
if he keeps taking naps
every time I need want something done.
However, it looks like he is trying to smother himself this time!
Hey- Why don't you use that
OTHER GIANT HAND
you've got there?
Have a great Friday!
I'll be around with more nonsense tomorrow!
You can bet on it.
