I love this time of year.
One of the things I adore about
this Season is
setting up the nativity.
My own is not quite ready
to show you yet~
It is cream colored porcelain
with gold trim.
So, although I am not showing
that one today
I did discover
some others to share with you.
My header reads
A Nativity For Every Taste.
Well,
I'm betting not many of you have
seen
THIS NATIVITY!
It is a creation by
I mean..have you ever?
And speaking of TASTE~
How about a simpler
GINGERBREAD Nativity?
I think Jesus must be
crying cuz he has a red face..
There are elaborate rustic nativities
set up in yards~
And simple outdoor
painted cut outs.
From the lushness of this
beautiful nativity from
To the simple outlines in metal.
Or how about one of those
grand old paintings?
Look at the Nativity
in a stained glass window..
Or...maybe, just maybe, you like
the Nativity
with a bit of humor thrown in.
And, perhaps, when you were a young
mother, like me,
without a lot of money to spend
on "breakables"
you created your own.
I stitched this in 1980,
when my kids were
tiny and now my youngest
daughter, Mimi, has claim to it.
It does need a good steam pressing,
doesn't it? I'll get right on that!
But one of the BEST Nativities
ever is the one by
Fisher-Price.
It is made to be loved by kids..
Loved and enjoyed.
They can move the wise men
and the animals around
without fear of breaking them.
It has been our gift to
each family as they had
their first child.
If your grandkids are young and
they don't have a nativity
this is the one for them.
Make sure you get the one where the
angel lights up on top
and it plays music.
You'll be glad you did.
Oh..lest I forget..
What's that saying?
Wise Men still seek him?
Let me tell you...
If you GET the Fisher Price
nativity and let the kids
play with it~
You will be searching for
Jesus at least twice a day
after someone carts him off.
And that is a fact!

LOL! My kids have the Fisher-Price nativity and my daughter at 13, still can't wait to put it out every year. She still loves to put everyone in a straight line like she did when she was 4. I come by, fix & arrange everyone nicely, and she puts them back in a straight line. And so it goes back & forth all season long...I guess it's our own little weird tradition.
I have a small nativity that my Mom collected for me from Avon years ago. It's cute.
What a lovely post.
I had never seen the Fisher Price one. & it got me thinking... "New Grandbaby due shortly after Christmas... this would be a perfect gift this year to have under the tree... good for either Boy or Girl, since we do not know"
Thanks for sharing....
what a lovely post, beautiful.
I never knew about the Fisher Price Nativity. I appreciate traditions at Christmas and yours is a wonderful one.
Thanks for sharing,
Lisa
Searching for Jesus twice a day - not such a bad thing. Wise men still seek Him. xo
Diana, I love that Fisher Price set. My mom had a baby Jesus, she got from a rummage sale. Only the baby, so she would place Him on the porch between Santa and the North Pole sign she had. I would say"it's officially Christmas , now that Baby Jesus is between Santa and the sign. :):) smiles, Susie
Love this! I love seeing all of the different manger scenes and what people's tastes are. I don't know if I could eat the cake one though. LOL
God bless you dear friend.
I love all of these..at the church museum here in Salt Lake City, Utah they display all size of nativities from all over the world, it is so amazing to go and see them. :D
Diana, what a lovely post and sweet reminder of the season! I love the nativity you stitched! You are one talented Nana! I still love your Santa paintings too!
I enjoyed this post so very much.
I feel like I've been to a museum in the comfort of my house slippers! The Fisher Price one is my favorite!!

I have nativities up in the house all year round, there may be 4 or 5. Love the cake idea. Who would dare to cut into that beauty. Anxious to see yours, Diana.
Have a lovely day ~

PS Don't forget our GIVEAWAY
When looking for Jesus, just look within and you'll find him.
That came from some street preacher who stopped me on the streets years ago. I thought he was silly. Then years later, I actually took two seconds to think about it and realized that this guy knew his stuff. I'm so dumb.

Wait! What was your post about again?
I've never seen the FP one or I would have picked one up for each of mine when they had their children! When the children come, they play with my old one. I've got my Granny's out under the main tree, and so many hands have carried them around, and more than once, you're so right, the hunt for baby Jesus was on!
What a thoughtful Nana! Many blessings for a wonderful season, Diana!

Hi Diana,
I love them all and I love the one you created! I didn't know that Fisher-Price had one--how clever. These are all so gorgeous.

that baby jesus did have a red face, didnt he? wonder if they were all eaten in the end or kept for years; i dont suppose the icing would keep well!!
Happy bday to ms sweetcheeks, sorry i missed that post; have missed a few due to my puter problems! Have a card for you i would love to post if I could have your address??? Lots of love and hugs, laura xxx
I love that cake...it's too perfect to eat!
I'm still laughing at the poor missing baby Jesus- I had no idea a FP Nativity existed. It's so cute. Handcrafted Christmas keepsakes are the best...it's a lovely way to spend the day strolling down memory lane, isn't it?
I still demand that sweet baby. Seriously, hand him over.
