There is so much to show you here.
The house was basically untouched
for around 50 years.
This was taken last summer before they bought it.
There was lots of dark paneling and the rooms
were quite closed in.
This was a big move for my daughter's family.
Her girls had lived in the same house since birth.
They were a little anxious about the move.
Mom & Dad did their bedrooms first thing.
I think I will take you through the house
room by room.
We will start with Lulu's bedroom.
She chose the SMALLEST BEDROOM upstairs
because she likes small spaces.
Here is the room
BEFORE:
Paneling around the whole room
and a built in unit that took up one whole wall
of the small space.
Here is the room with the wall unit removed
and drywall installed.
The wall behind her bed is painted pink and has
SPARKLES in it which show up
when you see it in person.
Her Dad built her a special light fixture
using barnwood and recycled jars.
See the "door" in the ceiling?
That has a pull down staircase that goes up
to a LOFT-which will be a study room for her.
Her Mom and I painted the desk
and chair for her here.
It was the first time I used Annie Sloan chalk paint.
Auntie Mimi painted her name
on an old window frame
using a Paris theme.
Lulu put the boa around it all on her own.
Do you see the phone on the desk?
That is the one I spray painted here.
And-just a peek at a couple of sweet details.
So-There you have it.
A room fit for a sweet pre-teen girl.
She loves her room and
I LOVE HER!
Even if she does have hydrangeas growing out of the back of her head
Absolutely GORGEOUS! Keep the pictures coming. Emma had a Paris-theme bedroom a few years ago. Such a fun feminine theme!
ReplyDeleteA great room and love all of the special touches and as usual a good laugh at the end of the post! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a transformation. Who wouldn't love it. The bookshelves gone, makes the room so much larger. Love all the details. Can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful home and a pretty bedroom for a sweet looking young lady (who looks fabulous with the hydrangea hairpiece). I can't wait to see the rest of the house.
ReplyDeleteVery wise parents to start with the girls' rooms. This one must make Lulu's heart sing. What a nifty "door in the ceiling" a portal to anywhere really...
ReplyDeleteDiana! How special is LuLu's...ooooohhh La La room!
ReplyDeleteThat "Loft" is going to be "the talk" of her teen girlies!"
Fabulous "Reno" Dad and Mom and bravo to Nana and LuLu for the finishing and flourish!
withLove!
its beautiful, as is she!
ReplyDeleteI would have loved a room like that!
ReplyDeleteHer room is adorable and what a great bed! Love the private access door in the ceiling- she must get a kick out of that! She was no dummy picking that room out! The painted pieces turned out great- and I do remember the phone!
ReplyDeleteWhat a dream room for LuLu! The loft, now that is going to be a cool place to hang (party) with friends, what a perfect space for a teen! LuLu is just beautiful and I do love the hydrangea effect~
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sanctuary she has, and it's pink so it is absolutely perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty room, Diana. I wondered if the French theme you were doing for her would carry over to this house. Love the idea of the loft. She was a smart girl to pick this room!
ReplyDeleteTrès chic! What a beautiful room for a very beautiful young lady. She is growing up fast.

I think she can get medical treatment for the hydrangeas. ;-) What a perfect bedroom for her! And be sure to tell the dad that I'm very impressed by that light fixture. Can he make me one? I'm surprised that anyone puts in paneling these days. So nice to get rid of it and install drywall! And what good parents to take care of the girls' rooms first. Very wise.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful room for a beautiful girl. I can't wait to see the rest of the house.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! The before and afters are outstanding! Love that light fixture!!!! This house is one of those gems!!! Can't wait to see more!!
ReplyDeleteOh a dream room for sure.
ReplyDeleteDiana, Your Lulu is a beauty. She must have a bit of decorator in her, putting the boa around the name painting. Cute. I like her room very much. can't wait to see the study. xoxo,Susie

ReplyDeleteCutey patootie! Oh my goodness! What a darling room and what a creative Nana and Papa! Wow am I impressed!
ReplyDeleteI bet she loves it!! And a loft space to boot! It is so nice that she can get away from her "pesty" sisters. lol. I bet she is at an age where she needs her space at times. I can't wait to see more pictures. It looks like a beautiful house.
ReplyDeleteWell, isn't Lulu the most gorgeous girl!! Love her room and that light fixture is amazing!! Lots of talent in your family. :) That was smart of the parents to get the kids rooms situated first so they'll feel at home immediately. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteDiana,
ReplyDeleteLulu's bedroom is darling. The transformation is amazing. They did a great job fixing it up to look like a princess' room. I love the pink and black combination. When I was looking all around the room, I noticed the white furniture that looks so much like the furniture Nel and Jess had when they were little. I so wish I would have kept it. Lulu deserves a room like this. She is such a special girl.
love,
~Sheri
She is so beautiful and what a neat room. This house is really cool!!
ReplyDeleteWow how beautiful the room looks! I love it and I know my daughter would too. I love the color scheme black pink and white! What difference without the paneling. I can't wait to see the rest of the house. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteJulie
Her boudoir is perfect for a wee mademoiselle! No wonder she loves it. But, having a secret loft makes it out of this world.

ReplyDeleteWe have an upstairs with paneling. We are planning to get ride of it some time this year. I can't wait to start remodeling.

ReplyDeleteThe home is stunning from the outside... I can't imagine why it would be so let go on the inside? But wow...great before and afters in Lulu's room...I love every single thing that's been done. A room for for a princess and timeless (which is good for getting that longevity from young to older teen!). Wonderful job! :)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Her room is AWESOME!!!! Everyone did a great job with it. Boy is that house ever pretty. Can't wait to see even more as time goes by.
ReplyDeleteLots of beauty in this post, especially your sweet granddaughter!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for Lulu, a room fit for a princess! And a loft, how fun is that? I love that mason jar light fixture, it's so special that all of you put time and love into her room, the way it should be. I think she's adorable too and those hydrangea's growing from her head, just trim them occasionally and they'll hardly be noticeable at all.
ReplyDeleteOh Diana,
ReplyDeleteLuLu's room is so pretty. I bet she loves her new room. They are doing such a great job on the rooms. I cannot wait to see more.
Kris
Her room is adorable. I'm jealous of the secret loft! Who wouldn't love that.
ReplyDeleteLove it! All three of the girls have awesome rooms...a lot of work to transform them, I am sure! Oh boy, I remember those days! I am not sure I would have the energy to do that kind of construction again! :) Can't wait to see the rest of the house!
ReplyDeleteA room with a loft! How amazing this house is. They are so going to love growing up here. I love her room...so girly and french. Suits her well. She is going to have so many friends! Just to climb the loft ladder...LOL.
ReplyDeleteLulu is a beauty - of course Nana already knows that! But that girl has hair to DIE FOR! My goodness it's gorgeous! Speaking of "dying for things" - any of my daughters would have done that for a loft like this one! That house certainly has character and all of it is now coming to life. Beautiful place for the girls to grow up!
ReplyDeleteA sweet room for a sweet girl! Pat
ReplyDeleteShe is a lucky lucky girl. Beautiful room. Love her braces.

ReplyDeleteDiana, I missed LuLu's new room and I can't leave her out. It is so pretty and I remember how important it was to have your own beautiful room at her age. (Yes, even I can remember back that far). I love the pink sparkles in the wall and her beautiful bedspread..Happy Weekend..Judy
