We were among the lucky ones
that knew him in life.
John and I are just two of the souls
he touched with his wisdom,
support, and guidance.
He was kind when he needed
to be kind,
and tough when he needed to be tough.
When he wasn't with his family
and those that he loved,
he was happiest on the
golf course.
Today-This is how I choose
to picture him--
enjoying a little
Heavenly Golfing.
I sure hope he had time
to read this book...
I loved Jerry and would
always tease him after church
because he managed to work
SPORTS into
EVERY. SINGLE. SERMON.
Yes-he did! Seriously!!!
Jerry always said I had a
WICKED SENSE OF HUMOR...
so, I expect he would
appreciate my way of saying
Good-bye to him here.
Please keep his family in your
prayers-and-as always,
if you are not a person of prayer,
please wing good thoughts and
healing wishes their way.
I hope you all have a wonderful
weekend.
Ours will be happy/sad as we
all move forward and
"let go and let God",
as they say.
RIP, Jerry Price.
You were a man among men
and your legacy will reach
farther than you could ever
have imagined.
I think your post is a nice tribute to your dear friend. That is cute how he worked sports into sermons, as you pointed out.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss, dear Diana. I agree with Terra, this was a beautiful tribute to the man you admired and appreciated.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend. Hugs!
Me thinks he will score an ace on every hole in heaven ~
ReplyDeleteIt is a sweet loss - albeit a painful one. Sweet because you loved him so and sweet because he has gone on to heaven before you. Painful because .....you loved him so...... I understand this.....
ReplyDeleteMay our dear Lord comfort you and the families during these difficult days. What a beautiful and touching tribute. Sweet hugs.

ReplyDeleteSo sorry for the loss of a good friend. People like that don't come into our lives very often and we do have to be thankful for the joy of having known them. Will keep you and his loved ones in my prayers. May the dear Lord bless you with comfort and love.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and his family and friends peace. I love the tribute and I'm 'seeing' him on the golf course this morning also. Hugs.
ReplyDeletePraying for his family and friends, but rejoicing for him, that he is free of pain and healed and has already met Jesus, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteMentors are special in our lives. How wonderful that you and hubby knew him personally and also KNEW WHILE HE WAS HERE that he was so meaningful in your lives. Prayers for his family and friends also.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of the death of your friend. I won't say loss because you didn't lose him. You know exactly where he is. I'll be praying for his family and friends who loved him.
ReplyDeleteYes, you have lost his presence, but just for the here and now...may you all be comforted knowing that you will see him again and there’ll be no more goodbyes. I would imagine the stories of him are many and that you will hear some that will warm your hearts and make you smile.
ReplyDeletePrayers for all of you, Diana. It's so difficult to lose a good friend. :(

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. Heard something today - death is the final part of our earthly journey. He made it to the other side - while people one earth miss him.
ReplyDeleteThis is such an uplifting and honorable tribute to your dear friend. Prayers continue for his family and friends.
ReplyDeleteYour pastor/friend sounds like he was truly a wonderful man of God, and yes, if there is golf in heaven, Jerry and Jesus are probably playing a good round about now. Just think of walking the golf course of heaven with Jesus...now that would be heavenly for sure. Praying for the family and friends...I know they will miss him for sure.
ReplyDeleteWill pray for the family and close friends . Thank you for sharing . Hugs and blessings , Cindy
ReplyDeleteI will be praying for his family and friends. I am sure that Jerry appreciated your great humor and loving nature. God be with you.
ReplyDeleteLosing someone at the holiday season can add a bittersweet time to them. I lost my father 2 days before Thanksgiving, so we all miss him. We also remember the many years we had together and them memories gathered. I hope his family holds on to those special memories.
ReplyDeleteOh Diana, I am so sorry you lost such a dear man! I never got to reply to your last post and here he is gone already! You and hubby might want to improve on your golf game, or learn now, before you see Jerry again. He will be playing every day up in heaven!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post and tribute. Praying for the family as they face life without their loved one.
