A Very Hard Post To Write- Please Pray For Us-MyHero Has Cancer

I have been putting off writing this
because I hardly know where to start.
 My Hero has cancer.

He had a biopsy the day after Thanksgiving
and they called him on Saturday to tell him
it tested positive for cancer.

Today he had three scopes and another biopsy.
Monday we see the radiologist,
the oncologist and he has a PET scan.
Tuesday we have a CT scan.
After that we will know exactly
what we are facing.
We will be in the biggest battle of our lives
(which is a whole lot different than the spats over
"WHY can't you put your underwear in the hamper?)

Please pray for MyHero and for our kids
and grandkids.
Cancer is not a ONE PERSON diagnosis
it affects whole families.

I am not going to be blogging for a bit
but I will keep you all posted from time to time.
I need to devote time and energy
to appointments and care-taking.

Thanks to all of you that have followed my blog
and been such a great support in the past.
I appreciate it and love each one of you!

Have a blessed, wonderful Christmas
YEP-it is MY blog and I will say
MERRY CHRISTMAS
rather than Happy Holidays!
As you can see I am still my
SASSY SELF
which just might be a good thing
in these upcoming weeks.

Please pray for us and/or
send healing thoughts our way!
Thanks so much!

  2. I am so sad to read this, Diana. I am going to pray hard for your Sassy Self and for your Hero and family. There seems to be so much cancer these days. But thank God, there are good doctors and medicine out there and of course MIRACLES! I don't have to tell you that God has your Hero in the palm of his hands. I'll have mama put him on her prayer chain list. Love you so much and I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas. Hugs!!!!!

  26. Diana, as I wrote your name on a 3x5 card to add to our prayer cards, I then came to your blog to see the issue you are dealing with. We all have been touched by cancer, and it's something we all dread the word. Please know my dearest and I pray every day together, and you and your hero have a card, and we will ask God to send his healing touch, and the strength to face what ever is in his will for your lives. Hugs.

  75. HI! I Have never commented before, but I want you to know I understand what your feeling! I was diagnosed august 1st with pancreatic cancer! What a shock! I am 57! I have completed my 6 rounds of chemo and now for the surgery on Dec 28th. I am a widow.! My husband died suddenly from a heart attack 5 years ago! he was only 56!! My kids live two hours away! But I got thru the battle of chemo! What type of cancer does your husband have? REACH OUT TO THE CANCER SERVICES IN YOUR CITY! the ONE HERE in Fort Wayne has great services! They even help pay for prescriptions! And free massages!! The chemo side effects usually start 3-5 days after the chemo! It depends on the type of chemo you are getting. Each patient has different side effects! My worse side effect was mouth sores! I finally found a way to deal with them. Milk of magnesia! Rinse and spit 6 times a day! I am sooo sorry you two have this battle ahead of you, but with prayer warriors, family and friends you two will get thru this battle! the day of chemo isn't bad! I had great nurses and fun patients beside me ! We all laughed and talked! I got 4 kinds of chemo so my day there was long! 7 hours to receive it all! They infuse anti naseau meds to start with. I can honestly say I have not had nausea or vomiting after chemo! They have really good drugs now to prevent it! I still get really tired, but I just listen to my body and nap! please contact me if I can help you thru this battle! maryjane4930@gmail.com I will help answer any questions you have ! I will be on my knees in prayer for both of you! you can do this! sincerely Mary Jane

  106. I am so sorry to hear of this!!! Prayers for you and your family. I hope it is curable and the treatments won't be too bad. As you say Cancer is a family affair. We have been going through it for 2 years now with mom. Caretaking is not easy (to put it mildly and I have help) but take it one step at a time. We have had very caring Drs through Preavea and also great nurses with hospice advantage. (Of course I hope he never gets to the point of needing hospice)!!! We will pray for a cure instead. Please God Let John (my hero) be cured!!!

  107. You will all be in my prayers. Cancer just stinks. It's hard, I know. We just returned from my husband's mother's funeral. His sister that took such good care of her is now dealing with cancer with her husband. He has finished chemo and the doctors say he is remission but he still will have radiation. This started around Labor Day. It is non-hodgkins leukemia. I think that his progress has been good in such a shirt time. Hoping it goes well for your husband. Still stinks though. Sorry. Hugs and prayers.

  110. Very sad news indeed...You're right about it affecting the whole family..Hopefully it is contained and treatable..then everything will be fine..you will hear all kinds of stories..Every one is different..There are many types and many treatments for each one..I went thru it with my husband and we had 9 good years after a diagnosis that said he may have 2-3..I assume he has bowel cancer?..If it has been caught early enough , it is very treatable..I will keep you in my thoughts..and prayers

  111. Diana....I hate the C word. I don't talk about our health problems much on social media, but we have been thru this too with my sweetheart. A routine checkup and bam...you get this news you never ever expected. But we (and I am talking about him and his caretaker (me) got thru it. People don't realize how hard it is on the caretaker.) I pray with all my heart that you and your sweetheart will kick this thing in the butt!

  118. What a shock! I had been wondering about you, but thought it something different. There are no good words at a time like this, but know I care and pray it is not as bad as they think. There is never good time for this to happen, but at the holiday much worse. All of you dig deep for your inner strength and maybe Santa will bring better news. They have more to work with now than years ago. He will overcome it all.

The treatments for cancer are so wonderful these days, and I know you will see positive results throughout this horrid ordeal. Make certain he has very HIGH HIGH protein drinks, like EAS MYOPLEX, a couple a day, as protein heals the body. And, as the treatments may cause loss of appetite these drinks will make up for lack of food. I've been through this with a dear dear friend who had no other woman in his life, and I know for certain how much this helps. The main thing is to be POSITIVE, both of you. Please keep your friends updated from time-to-time. Sending love....

You also have a friend in me to e-mail, text or call anytime. I know my situation is different but I know the fear involved with taking care of loved one with a medical issue. It can be a lot of anxiety, exhaustion and helpless feelings involved but you can focus on the good days and let people help you. Take the meals, prayers and friendships. Most of all you will have a renewed faith in this trial. God knows the story, the outcome and the journey. It is a trusting time, and it's okay to be flat out angry but you will need your faith and Gods love. Love you!!! Katie

  164. Diana, I hardly know what to say. We have been through this. I had breast cancer back in 2004-2005. Did everything...chemo drugs, surgery, more chemo and the radiation. It was exhausting. And I felt awful most of the time. My hubby didn't know what to do because it wasn't something he could 'fix'. Guys are like that. I just needed him to be there. That was all. That was enough.

I know this can be a scary thing. And I also know that with Heavenly Father's help we can get through anything no matter what. He is there. He knows you . He knows your husband. He knows the best way to help. We usually doesn't take away the situation or trouble that we are dealing with, HE does make our burden lighter and us stronger so that we can handle them. I pray this for you and your family. We are all here for you. Please do let us know how things are going.

Take care, Janet W ((( BIG HUGS)))
