I have had our Lulu here for a couple of days.
She had a light rash that started on her arms
and spread to her tummy
and then her legs.
Early on it didn't look like much to worry about.
Her Daddy took her to the walk-in clinic.
They told him that it was "nothing",
a reaction to something she ate or "something"
and sent her home with Benadryl.
She couldn't go to school all itchy
so she stayed with me and spent the night.
Yesterday, she got up and I looked at her.
NOW she had a REAL RASH!
I called my daughter and said-
She needs to see her pediatrician asap.
My daughter called and got her right in,
they performed the test and
SHE HAS SCARLET FEVER
(which is kinda like strep gone bad).
She is quarantined to my house for
a couple of days.
She will be fine but needs some tending.
SO~I will be back in a couple of days with
AN UPDATE.
Enjoy your weekend
and I will see you soon.
uh-oh-
I think I might have a rash myself!
Yeah- and Happy Thursday to YOU, too!
Oh dear. Are you and your Hero immune to this? I certainly hope she is feeling better soon. That's too bad that it wasn't caught the first time she was in to see a dr. You're such a good Nana to take her in!! -Jenn
ReplyDeletePraying for Lulu to recover soon.Take care of your 'rash' too!
ReplyDeletePoor Lulu! I hope she feels better soon. Prayers and hugs sent your way!
ReplyDeletePrayers for LuLu's recovery.. You are the Bestest Grandma ever.~!!
ReplyDeletePraying for Lulu. I didn't know that had to do with strep. So glad you stayed on top of it and had the test run. Bless her heart and may the Lord bless and keep her and touch her body and protect you and all yours.
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I didn't even know there was Scarlet Fever anymore. Hope she bounces back quickly! Do you have a big orange sign stuck on your front door? Like they used to in the olden times :)
ReplyDeleteI know Lulu will recover quickly with a little TLC from her Nana!
ReplyDeleteI remember when my daughter was diagnosed years ago with Scarlet Fever I called her school to report that she would not be in school that day and they panicked. I received at least two more phone calls from the staff that day. It had been a feared disease many years before, but today with drugs, it is over in a few days.
ReplyDeleteI remember getting hives a lot when I was in school. They'd always say I was allergic to something but nothing new would change in the house. I hope she feels better
ReplyDeleteI had Scarlett Fever when I was a girl and I remember how miserable it was. I had to be hospitalized....back in the olden days. I'll pray that she feels much better soon. Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteOh no! Poor Lulu. And you. Loved the cartoon. Lol. Take care over there.
ReplyDeletePoor Lulu. I hope it is a quick recovery for her and that she doesn't share the wealth with her Nana.
ReplyDeleteHoping Lulu feels better soon! Having her Nana take care of her has got to help!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I'm so sorry to hear that. I didn't know that scarlet fever was even still around. I didn't even know what it was! It's a good thing that they discovered what was wrong with her and she is now receiving proper care. I hope she gets better soon!
ReplyDelete-sigh-
ReplyDeleteGlad you had more sense, than many others.
Lots and lots of gentle hugs,
Tessa
Diana, So glad you got help for Lulu. Thankfully she'll be okay with the right meds and care. As for you...I think that's wind burn and you may have to give up beans for a while. LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteBe careful you stay healthy! It's contagious...and we'd hate for you to get sick...and besides...we'd miss your blog!!
ReplyDeleteHope Lulu gets well soon....
Nancy
Good Morning Sunshine, I know that nana will take good care of Lulu. I think sometimes they are in to big of a hurry when they look at kids and they are always allergic to something. I am glad they found out what it was and pray for a speedy recovery. Thank you for my morning chuckle. Many Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend. Shirley
ReplyDeleteWow, that's nuts!
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I'm so sorry to hear of this development with Lulu! We went through that with one of our girls at a young age. Hope the medicine works quickly for her! xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteSoothing lotion, smooth bed, and sweet rest to your dear girl, and good together quiet times for the two of you. The quiet warmth of isolation is sometimes a blessing in disguise, and she's so fortunate to have the advantage of the NanaLulu days together, despite the aggravating cause. (That sounds like a magical place, NanaLulu, where all is pink and flowery, with cupcakes for breakfast and endless stacks of books, and the weather is doing whatever you think of when you look outside, or a lovely Hawaiian experience that you'd pay extra money for on your trip).
ReplyDeleteBoth of you are in my thoughts,
rachel
Oh, I hope she gets better soon! I remember hearing about someone getting scarlet fever many years ago and I didn't even know you could still get it, but since then, I've heard of many people who have. Glad she is resting and getting better. I'm sure you'll take good care of her. :)
ReplyDeleteOh no! I'll be praying for Lulu to recover quickly and praying that you and your hero don't get it!!
ReplyDeleteAt least you found some humor in all of this. Oy!
Take Care Diana!
Hugs, Amy

ReplyDeleteYikes poor Lulu. But with Nana's love, attention and care she will be rash free soon. Thinking of you and your family in prayer today.

ReplyDeleteMy sister had it as a teenager. Took her quite a while to get over it. Maybe you caught it early. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are crazy! LOL!! I hope Lulu feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope she gets better fast. I haven't heard of anyone getting that in a long time. That looks painful!
ReplyDeleteOh no!! Poor child!! Is she feeling any better? Back in the old days scarlet fever was quite serious but these days the meds take effect quickly and she should be recovered fast
ReplyDeleteOh dear! I hope someone notified those incompetents at the walk-in clinic. Praying that everyone is back to normal, especially you =D, very soon!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're available to "nurse" Miss LuLu.
ReplyDeletehuh oh - I just got a strange visual of you actually
nursing (as in boob) LuLu. My mind is a strange thing.
Get well LuLu! FAST!!
I haven't heard of many cases of Scarlet fever, I know it was a bad disease many years ago, but I am sure they have lots of new drugs to remedy it now. That's so nice that you are able to keep her for a few days. Don't you get sick!!!
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of scarlet fever for ever! Oh, I do hope that your little one will feel better soon and they you don't get sick too.

ReplyDeleteYou do'nt hear about that one much anymore..Hope she is feeling better soon..I hope no one else gets it !!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...sending hugs and prayers...
ReplyDeleteIt is likely the doctor at the walk in clinic had never seen a scarlett fever rash. How many people on this blog said they hadn't heard about it in a long time?
ReplyDeleteIt is likely the doctor at the walk in clinic had never seen a scarlett fever rash. How many people on this blog said they hadn't heard about it in a long time?
ReplyDeleteMy son also had Scarlet Fever which my doctor said is just strep with a rash but it scared the hell out of me. He got mono a few weeks later and the doctor decided there was a carrier in his Nursery School and he bit his nails so he picked it up. I'm sorry your little sweetie is sick. BTW that son is now 37. All I could remember was the Quarantined signs that I used to read about.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of Scarlet Fever...in fact my father-in-law had it as a young man. It is nothing to mess with...so do keep an eye on your little sweetie. Of course I know you will. Now we have meds that work faster, etc. Thankfully! So glad you are able to host "sick bay."
ReplyDeleteSheila

ReplyDeleteOh, poor little Lulu. Hope she feels better soon. You know how you hate to see a sick child and you want to give them all the tender love and care you can, and she will get that from you, I have no doubt. BUT, with us old broads its a different story, as you have so graphically depicted!..Hope all else stays well at your house..xo Judy

ReplyDeleteOh my goodnes...poor darling...hope she feels better asap! Wishing you a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh my word, I thought we had completely wiped that out. My mom had it when she was a little girl and it messed up her heart somehow.
ReplyDeleteMan what's up with all these weird things coming back? Is it because so many use/d anti bacterial lotions and it messed up our natural immunities? I am on my knees praying for your Lil Lu = and hope you ALL are well and better very soon (and don't ever catch this!)

I know you will take great care of her. Sorry it went that far. I am so glad you suggested to get her in to the doctor - just in time - it can affect the heart - that happened to my father in law - of course it was years ago. Take care and don't get it.
ReplyDeleteGoodness! I haven't heard of anyone getting that but I remember reading about it. I hope she's feeling better soon. Hope you stay healthy too!

ReplyDeleteI came by to thank you for all of your kind comments sprinkled about Blogland. It really means so much. I have stepped back from blogging for a season. It has really changed over the years (9 yrs in Jan. for me!) and it is time for me to give my heart to other beautiful opportunities. I wish you and your family a Christmas full of love, peace and light. xo Kerrie
Oh my goodness! My girls had that years ago!!! It must make the rounds every few years or so. Poor, Lulu. I bet your rash has nothing to do with anyone named Scarlet, or a fever!!!! Maybe the wrong brand of adult diapers???? Message me and I'll tell you what brand I use...lol.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend, dearie. Sunshine and 50's over on this side of the big pond!!
Love you.
Debbie

Oh my dear, poor sweet baby Lulu! The scarlet fever, my goodness. My DD Alex had it when she was around 8. Hope she's better soon, although it has a period of incubation, sort of, that we must wait.
ReplyDeleteI did wanted to come by and check on my friend Diana, as we just got back from Miami Wednesday after a month, remember we went for the birth of our new grandbaby girl. Our DD Alexandra had a very wonderful and natural delivery to a perfect baby. We cannot thank God more!
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, we did and I cooked in Miami. We were all together, the four of us, hubby, me and our two girls, Alex and Sofia.
Love,
FABBY
I hope Lulu is feeling lots better, Diana! I can't imagine how awful she must be feeling! She is so lucky to have you:) Hope you are doing ok yourself!!

Cindy
oh my gosh,, that is a nasty thing,, take care,,
ReplyDeleteThinking of you guys and praying that no one has any rashes today.
ReplyDeletewhoa, poor you, poor her. I feel itchy now. I sure would be scared of that diagnosis, simply because of its history. Now with antibiotics and so on, or however they treat it now. Well its nothing to worry about but oh boy, that was not always the case and makes me thankful for the progress in medicine.
ReplyDeleteTake care of each other
Janice
Sorry to hear Lulu has Scarlet fever...hope she is doing better now!
ReplyDeleteHope she is doing better by now!!!
ReplyDeleteAwww poor Lulu! I hope she's doing better now!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Hope she's feeling much better. Who knew that was even still around?!
ReplyDeleteJeanine
Oh poor Lulu! Hope she recovers quickly. Our oldest had Scarlett Fever when he was younger. He had strep throat and we couldn't get him into the doctor until the next day and by then the streptococci bacteria gave him the rash. My mom knew right away that it was Scarlett Fever. His brother got the strep throat but wasn't sensitive to the bacteria.
ReplyDeletePraying for a speedy recovery for your sweet little Lulu!
ReplyDeleteXO Barbara
Oh my, well I hope Lulu recovers quickly and is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
I am sorry to hear this! I will pray for your little Sweetie, but I will have to pass on checking for your rash! lol, My nurse license is BACK ORDERED!

ReplyDeleteI hope Lulu and YOU are okay, ND!
ReplyDeleteThat is dreadful news. At least, she is with her Nana, where she will get super duper care. xo
ReplyDeleteDi, hoping she has recovered by now and that it hasn't spread to others in your family.
ReplyDeleteFunny cartoon. I know you are trying to find the humor in the situation. I'm glad she went on. Sometimes this can turn into worse things like scarlet fever or rheumatic fever. We went through this with my daughter. Good advice, Nana.
ReplyDeleteThinking about you and hope all is well, Diana. I'm hoping you are just having fun and too busy to blog! xo ♥
