Please Pray For Little Miss Bright Eyes

The night before Tuesday's move our little
BRIGHT EYES
took a tumble down the steps.

In all the confusion of the move one of the boys
left the door to the stairs open and
the next thing my daughter heard was a
THUNK!

Mimi took her to the ER and they did an
Xray of her leg, hip & foot
and didn't see anything.

However, yesterday, she would not
put any weight on her foot so
back to an ER in their new hometown.

It appears she MAY have a fractured femur.
She has to see an orthopedist today
and MAY have to have a cast
for six to eight weeks.

Say a little prayer for her and her Mama.
It is always tough enough to move to a new place,
find a new doctor and try to navigate the
waters of being in a strange place.

Thanks so much.
Wish I could give her a big Nana hug but I am
reduced to Facetime...where she
HUGS the screen.
Hope YOUR day is a good one!

  1. Oh dear. That is NOT the way to begin life in a new place, is it? Poor little gal. She will undoubtedly bounce back with no repercussions. Concerning your Wednesday post, my son also called them "stunks"! (It was my daughter who spoke about "squirrelmonks"). -Jenn

  3. Oh, Diana. I am SO very sorry about all of this. You and your hubby must be fraught over it, being so far away now. Your poor baby girl Mommy, too, who is wishing she could turn back the clock and change the past... Fortunately ONLY a possible broken bone is as bad as it will hopefully get. Prayers for your beautiful granddaughter. Bless her heart!

    Hugs to you,
    Kelley~

  6. Those home accidents are always "in small corners" or in your grandbaby's case the stairs. Having lived in the land of small (but steep!) stairs, I am the only one who ever made a fall. Sorry that she will have a cast, but broken bones do heal. Sweet that she hugs the computer screen. Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  8. Hi Diana, glad to see you back. I just got back myself from vacation. I hope bright eyes heals and it's not serious. I downloaded your book you wrote and read it. I really enjoyed reading it and you did a great job. Have a nice day Diana and a good weekend.

  16. Oh, no! And with my boys there were times when breaks did not show up on the first x-ray. With Andrew, he broke the growth plate in his shoulder and they missed it the first go around. But - after a few weeks of him complaining I took him back and they caught it. Hopefully, your Little Miss Bright Eyes will be just fine. Prayers are going up for her now.

  29. Poor baby! My husband accidentally stepped on my daughters leg when she was 2. We were outside playing vollyball and he backed up and didn't see her. She had a fracture and wore a cast for 8 weeks. It was from her ankle to hip but it didn't slow her down a bit. She could run with the cast on. Kids are amazing. My husband felt terrible and my now 13 year old daughter occasionally reminds him of it.
I'm glad your baby wasn't seriously hurt tumbling down the stairs. Keeping her in prayer.

  55. The old saying, when it rains it pours. Definitely moving is not an easy thing, but have this to happen is horrible. Trust the report is not as bad they think. Being so young, she will heal quickly and deal with it easier than us old folks. Be strong for her and family.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh poor little darling. Just what they don't need to worry about now. I hope she's better quickly. Poor grandma too can't be there to hug and help :-(

  60. Oh! I hate that. Poor little miss bright eyes!
I'm sorry to hear that- and I'm mad as heck it took two trips to the ER to find there actsully was a problem! When are these hospitals going to wise up?! This is the 4th case THIS WEEK. I kid you not, where the hospital failed to diagnose , treat and in the end released. ( one case the man died 39 yrs old) it is ridiculous!
... I'm sorry your not there to give hugs! šŸ˜¢

  67. Diana, Prayers and hugs to Miss Bright Eyes and mama, You post brought back memories of my oldest tumbling down our basement steps. We were lucky that he didn't go off the side of them. Needless to say we enclosed them right away. I pray that she doesn't have to wear a cast for 6 tp 8 weeks. I know how it hurts when they are where grandma's live away from them. We all want to be there to help them. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

  72. Oh I just hate to hear this news! I bet there were some big tears and cries after that happened. I hope she's not in pain and will have a speedy recovery. I know that children's bones heal quicker than ours. My youngest broke his leg when he was 2 on our trampoline. He wore a cast but healed up quickly and never had another problem. His was a VERY bad break too! She is young and probably won't ever remember this accident too.

  73. Once I fractured my foot in 5 places but a normal xray did not show it. I had to have a special nuclear xray done to have it show! I had walked on it a month in such pain!

  83. I have kept her in my prayers, and I was hoping that she wouldn't have any breaks, but it's good that they found it. Your sweet daughter, I am sure is miserable about it. My youngest son had the same thing happen to his leg, after a few days of him limping and then not walking on it I took him in for a ex-ray and sure enough he had broken it. I felt like a terrible mother. He was 2. He healed just fine and was back to jumping and falling down the stairs again. Tell her to just take one moment at a time while she is going through such a crazy time in her life. Bless her heart. Take care sweetie and have a beautiful weekend. Hugs, Jo

  84. Oh my, poor sweet girl :( Praying for her here. I think that they hospital should have done full body xrays. When my son got hit by a car and flew through air they just did trunk and head and neck. He ended up with two broken wrist and a busted toe we found a week later. His toe stopped growing then. He was 6 then.

When he was 2 he fell down some stairs and had to get stitches just above his right eye. Gosh that was so scary to go through.

Let us know how she is doing, okay?

Take care, Janet W.....PS I bought your book online. Loved it :)
