FUNNY ON FRIDAY-NAUGHTY? NOT ME! FUNNY? YOU DECIDE!

The picture below is me myself!
A happy-go-lucky little Miss.
My Father thought everything I did was funny.
My Mother thought nothing I did was funny.
It made for some uneasy family meals.

ANYWAY..
Below you will see me standing
next to my Aunt Erma.
One of my Father's sisters.
She is holding one of her pride & joy grandchildren.
She is happy.
That's her happy face.
Notice how she is ignoring me?
See how happy I am?
As a reference guide
Compare it to the picture above.
See what I mean?
I was NOT Aunt Erma's favorite niece.
As a matter of fact, I think I was on the bottom of her list.
Why? Why you ask?
Well, it started with a can of paint
(kinda like this one)

I think I was about 6 (or maybe 7)

I believe my age was

SHE.IS.OLD.ENOUGH.TO.KNOW.BETTER!

(Accompanied by a red face

to match her red hair).

Anyway, the best I remember it..

I took her white house paint..

ummm..hmmm...
and I just stirred a wee bit of BLACK paint
into all the cans.
There were lots of cans.
There were enough cans to paint her whole house
and she had a BIG house.
My father asked me if I did it.
I said..YEP!
He asked WHY?
I said..Because I did.
My Auntie said that was
NOT! A! GOOD !ANSWER!!!

My Father suggested she paint the house grey.
She did NOT think that was funny.
She did NOT think I was cute.
My Father bought her new paint.
She got to keep the old paint too!
Now I ask you...

Was that fair?

No need to vote on that question!

  1. You must have been a neat paint mixer ,for them to even have to ask you if you did it. LOL I would have had it everywhere. Auntie should have given the mixed paint to your dad. I had some grumpy old relatives also. Glad you did not get your aunt's sense of humor. LOL Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

  4. Your auntie did not appreciate artistic talent!! 😆we each add a bit of individual talent and colour to God’s earth, we are unique. Not everyone appreciates that. Can you imagine how awful this world would be if we all thought and performed everything alike? I’m not talking about the sinful part of our nature, that we sure can do without. But the portion God created has so much wonder and mystery and sweetness in a variety of flavours and shapes and colours snd sounds, etc, and it is all beautiful to those who have eyes that can see it. ☺️❤️👍🏼

  5. Now why would you not be the favorite? LOL Some stories are good, some expensive, some memorable.... soooo ..... I guess you win. YOur dad sounds like mine. My sister could do NO wrong. She was His 'Strawberry blonde!', But that is a little brothers impression LOL See, I do envy you, I am wishing I had done that! LOL

    Love ya!
Sherry & jack (finding this hard to believe of such a sweet lady!) Methinks God has you doing penance (being married to a chaplain!)

  7. I love it! You little stinker. You should have just kicked her in the bum and ran for your life!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  8. But gray's such a sweet, soothing color. Kinda like an antidote to her red hair! Love this story, and I'm so glad she couldn't kill your spirit!

  9. Gray is a nice color, said the little miscreant, haaahahaa xoxo

  11. Kids do the funniest things, some adults don't have a sense of humor. :)

  13. Oh goodness, we have all done senseless, goofy, and wrong things as children. I could write a book about me. Like the time I poured flour and corn chips all over our wood floors and tried to skate on it. You were, and are, so gorgeous!! And your aunt was rather unforgiving. Just sayin'...

  14. You and I would have made a great team as 6-year-olds. Oh, the things we would have gotten into and what fun we would have had. Of course, I was in California and you were in Pennsylvania, one of us would have had to move.

  15. Grey is so much more interesting than white! You were just ahead of your time with colour!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, I am thinking it was unfair of her to hold it against you for ever. Gray might have been better then white....

  17. That's funny!
When I was about that age, my Mom was painting the house. I asked if I could help...she said sure. Then the phone rang and she left to answer....I kept painting....when my Mom came back...there was tic tac toe all over the house....My mother never let me paint again.....I had used the white paint on the grey house.....LOL
Yup you were naughty....so was I....giggle....
Hope things are ok in your neck of the woods....

  18. Oye! At least it was a respectable color, you naughty girl! 🤣

  19. Started young..I guess that's when you started dabbling in paint??

    ReplyDelete
  20. Why you naughty little girl! If your Aunt would have painted it grey, it would still be in style today. Seems like grey is one of the most popular colors in decorating. I think you were just trying to do her a favor :)

  21. I bet you were so much FUN!!!!!

  22. Well, you got to keep the old paint. That's a plus! You rapscallion, you!

  23. I had one of those aunts and around our table it was pretty much like yours. LOL!

  24. Hilarious. Gray is very fashionable nowadays. I hope she saved it. LOL. You were very cute...and yes, a bit naughty, but I bet you were just adorable most of the time...well..maybe...

  25. Way to crush sweet (?) Diana's artistic creativity, Aunt Erma. Lol!

  26. I used to wear my hair like that - we could have been twinnies! cheers

  27. Oh, my. You were naughty! An artist in the making? What's pretty about white paint? LOL Thanks for sharing your story. It explains a lot! (wink)

  28. Aww...you were probably just bored! Too funny!

  29. Because I did is a perfectly valid reason in my book. So I take it Aunt Erma was the type to hold a grudge.
I decided to hang on the towel bar in my aunts bathroom and pulled it off the wall. I thought it would be fun like swinging on the monkey bars. It wasn't. That was the one and only time I can recall my aunt being REALLY mad.

  30. I was terrified of my grumpy aunt. I think I called her an old prune in my mind...don't think I ever said it out loud. But you! Lol, such a cutie and so adventurous. I was too afraid of getting my butt whipped so I mostly followed rules. I'm jealous. Lol. Did you ever get punished for that? Makes perfect sense to me. Let's see what happens when these two colors are mixed...ooo, that's pretty! Let's do it again! Lol. I'd been right there with you - scared to death but completely committed to it. 🤣🤣🤣
    Still chuckling,

  31. I had 6 aunts, 4 of the 6 were aunts because they married daddies brothers. 2 of those 4 hated my guts and i hated theirs and the other 2 loved me and I loved them. My dad's sister and my moms sister were beloved, one was a 2nd mother, the other was like a sister. I can tell you I never in my life and this is true, did anything like what you did. I was afraid to do anything at all because the Fear of Daddy was STRONG and if not him the FEAR of God who was Always Watching. but my friends put sand in my daddys gas tank.

  32. You were just ahead of yourself with wanting to paint the house the new age color of Gray! The second pic of you next to your aunt I see Carlisle in your face. He and Ryan really take after you. Happy Saturday. xoxo Kris

  33. Too funny Diana, what a prankster you were. Why did you do it? You look so darn cute. xoxo

  34. Oh how could your Aunt not love you!! You were so cute, doesn't that count for anything LOL! She could have painted the house gray like your Dad said. I guess some people just don't have a sense of humor!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Aaaagh... as someone who has bought paint, this gave me anxiety! 😂

    ReplyDelete
  36. Now, that's funny. I can see why you are such a perky, fun person.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I probably would have punished you but inside I'd be laughing.
It is such a kid thing to to. :) I think you did good by telling the truth!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well.. I think she should have lightened up, I mean come on.. you were just a little one.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Too funny! Gray isn't so bad 😉

    ReplyDelete
  40. Some people just lack vision ( and a sense of humor)! How dare she try to stifle your creativity! 🤣 Besides, her house probably needed a paint job and grey would've been pretty! Hugs!

  41. Me thinks you might have been a little rascal back in the day:) But as a past primary teacher, I always liked the kids with a little spunk!!! My only aunt on my daddy's side did NOT like me and I absolutely did NOT, NO WAY, NO HOW like her. Because of her I stayed locked in a bathroom almost all day (my mother was at work). I was scared if I came out my aunt was going to kill me.
I just love that first picture of you...definitely a little beauty! And you still are:)

  42. Too funny! I blame whoever left a six year old have unsupervised access to paint!

  43. Haha! You were ahead of your time, knowing that gray was going to be such a trendy paint color!

  44. YOU are something! And you have not changed a BIT! I know you haven't!

  45. I do like Amy's comment.
"Haha! You were ahead of your time, knowing that gray was going to be such a trendy paint color!"

    All the best Jan
