For those of you that have
kids or grandkids,
you will likely have had an experience
like this!
Quite a while ago
when the kids were here for
a snow day
SWEET CHEEKS
told me excitedly that on
the last Friday in February
her class was having
A SPECIAL PERSON DAY.
Nana, she asked me so sweetly,
Will YOU be
MY SPECIAL PERSON
because you are my
MOST SPECIAL PERSON?
With a melting heart I said:
YES!
Later the next week, after school,
she called to remind me and to ask me
once again...
Nana, Will YOU be my SPECIAL PERSON?
With a smile on my face, of course I said:
YES!
Five mintues later the phone rang.
Nana, It's SweetCheeks.
Nana, You don't have to come to
school next Friday for
SPECIAL PERSON'S DAY.
Why not? I asked.
Well, because Uncle Ryan said he
COULD COME AFTER ALL!
So- I am NOT invited anymore?
Yeah....you're not invited.
Thanks, SweetCheeks!
You're Welcome!
I'm thinking of showing up anyway
with a TREAT.
We'll SEE who is the most
SPECIAL PERSON then!
ooooh dear. Well.. those treats look absolutely awesome, the coolest of cool treats. I say do it.. LOL...
ReplyDeleteoh that child,, she will be the end of you lol,,, if you bring that treat Uncle Ryan will be history!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! Too funny! They crack me up! A couple of weekends ago, Evan and I drove up to see the boys' basketball games... a surprise visit. The boys were very excited to see us, but Alex quickly asked, "Who invited you to come?". As if we NEEDED an invitation to watch them play. Ha! Little stinkers. They are full of quips that keep us chuckling among ourselves! I'll bet that sweet treat will put you in the first rate special category. Hee hee. LOVE 'em! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteOMG Diana!!!!! Just OMG!!!! Too funny!!!
ReplyDeleteWe vote for you being the mostest specialistis person! hahaha! You are to US!!! Have a fun day! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDiana, That is so funny. You were the special person in the wings . :):) So Uncle Ryan beat you out. I bet he won't be bringing any of those fancy cupcakes. LOL. Diana, our grands used to have "Grandparent's Day" at their school. We went for Brockie..he had Papaw Ted, Nana(me) and grandma Donna. But one little boy only had a picture of his grandpa, cause his grandpa had passed away...so Brock said he would share me with that little boy..well about 1/2 hour later, Brock tells the kid, "You are hogging my Nana, here's grandma Donna for you. "LOL Kids, they keep you guessing. Blessings, xoxo, Love, Susie
ReplyDeletep.s. hug SC for me. :)
Oh my sweetness....this is too darn funny. I suppose it's better to be second in line than NOT in line at all. :)
ReplyDeleteOh dear, bumped for Uncle Ryan, LOL!
ReplyDeleteAWWWW:( That made me a little sad! Yes, show up anyway! All of my Grandkids are getting older and I am not always their choice for things. I have to do like you and say OK:) Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's a good thing that nanas are so forgiving! My sisters and I are laughing loudly about this!
ReplyDeleteOh my! You're our Special Person, Diana, you never cease to make us laugh. Yes, take the Treats anyway!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was headed for the "oh they meant handicapped people" route in terms of "special".
ReplyDeleteOh Sweet Cheeks you better rethink that one. We know whi is the special one and it's not Uncle Ryan. 😍
ReplyDeleteOh my precious friend. The first of the post I'm almost in tears because being a Nana (mimi) I understand how you'd feel. Then Only You can end it with a gut wrenching laugh! <3
ReplyDeleteAww...a little bittersweetness here. So, are you really going and taking the sweet treats??
ReplyDeleteGot to love her honesty, at least.
ReplyDeleteHow awful. Stooped by from Laurie's blog, intrigued by the title of your post.
ReplyDeleteFrom the mouths of babes. Gotta love her or else you'd cry. Or maybe you did anyway. I would have!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing but crying also! Kids...they can be a bit too honest sometimes can't they.
ReplyDeleteHeehee... out of the mouths of babes! Lucky we have tough shells - motherhood will do that to you. Enjoy your weekend dear Diana....
ReplyDeleteOh my!
ReplyDeleteThat is something about children, they are brutally honest at times!
LOL!
Have a lovely weekend, my friend.
Wait a minute! Sound like you got demoted . . . not so special after all, LOL. I'll just bet that Uncle Ryan doesn't show up with a treat like that:)
ReplyDeleteHow I needed a chuckle this morning with everything that is happening. You have to love our grand kids and hope we are teaching them right from wrong. Hugs and Prayers from your Missouri Friend Shirley
ReplyDeleteKids! You gotta love their honesty! Or fickleness!
ReplyDeleteaw, I am certain that you indeed are very special to this little darling!
ReplyDeleteHahahahhaaa... kids are something else; but then I know you are her special person, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThey never think twice about anything they frankly say and that is what we lose when we grow up to be polite, lol... But wait till you show up with your goodies !
Hugs dear,
Fabby
I remember that story, Diana! Still makes me laugh:) Oh the brutal honesty of kids, right?:)
ReplyDeleteOh gosh that just totally cracked me up!!!! Kids! xo
ReplyDeleteToo funny. So honest!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad, but funny too. Dear Sweet Cheeks, Nana's always love to spoil their grands, unless they hurt our feelings...so be careful with your nana or you might not get special treats and time together.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diana,
Noreen
Oh my gosh - kids are so honest aren't they? Glad you have a thick and loving skin. Been there myself. Love, sandie
ReplyDeleteLOL! Awwww Nana, next time maybe. I'm sorry, but that's funny! :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
That Sweet Cheeks! Kids don't hold back, do they?
ReplyDeleteIf you want the truth, ask a child. Telling it like it is, does not mean they do not still love us, spreading it in a different way. Such treasured memories.
ReplyDeleteLol, oh dear. I guess you were her 2nd choice.
ReplyDeleteOh from a build up to a let down....but you are still her fav special person!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, Diana--my husband and I are still laughing at this one! I guess you know your place! Have a great weekend. ♥
ReplyDeleteHow funny! Nice to know where you stand!
ReplyDeleteThis is funny! You should show up with that treat. :) Grandmas always understand, don't they.
ReplyDeleteThe child giveth and the child taketh away, and warmth our hearts.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteToo funny. :) I hope everyone is well there. I haven't been around here much. I hope you all had a great Holiday season. Take care, Janet W
Sweet Cheeks knows you can step aside just this once because you are ALWAYS her special person and she needs to give someone else a chance. xx K
ReplyDeleteDarn when that reality hits it hits hard haha haha But she loves you!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Kids!
ReplyDeleteYou are still special! ;-D
Aw sweetie don't let that hurt your feelings! And I'd show up with the goodies :)
ReplyDeleteSo did you? haha! That would've catapulted you to #1 for sure! But second choice ain't bad either!
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny. Treats will definitely vault you to the "all-time" special person. :)
ReplyDeleteOh! That's so sweet and funny. xoox Su
ReplyDeleteFirst reaction I would have been a bit 'ticked off' and hurt :) What a clear test from the Universe for you to pass somehow..
ReplyDeleteOUCH!! I love your attitude though. Keep being who you are and Sweet Cheeks will notice and remember. I keep thinking of how I want my grandchildren to think of me when they are 20-25ish. It's what I do now that they will have ingrained in their brains. Sometimes it hurts but it pays off in the end!
ReplyDeleteNow, it will really be a funny story if Uncle Ryan gets "uninvited" for another family member.
ReplyDeleteWow...takes the wind out your sails doesn't it? Oh well, it's only time
ReplyDeleteuntil you're back in first place!
Blessings from Harvest Lane Cottage
Oh my goodness! You most definitely have to take those treats now haha, I love the way kids think, so honest and uninhibited. I have 5 year old twin grandsons that don't live in our town. To keep them thinking of me, I keep refreshing my toy closet and they FaceTime me so we can play (via FaceTime) with my toys. Today they called while I was in the shower, my phone showed 10 unanswered FaceTime calls. When I finally called back they wanted to see Luigi, my newest addition to their Mario brothers collection.
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Sunday!
Saimi
Oh Diana! Dumped in a most refreshing way. I hope she never learns to tell little white lies. Telling you her first choice can come now made me love her all the more!
ReplyDeleteI totally love this!! Looking forward to my grandson saying something similar one day! XX
ReplyDeleteHa Ha, so who was it Uncle Ryan? or You or both!! So cute!!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteleave it to SC, at least she didn't lie to you. Us grandma's have to have big hearts as they don't mean to hurt us.
How is Lulu doing, hope she has recovered.
Hugs,
Mary
Oh Diana, that's crushing... but I think those ice cream cones would definitely tip the scales back in your favor :) Then it might be Uncle Ryan's turn to feel slighted, lol! Hugs to you today dear friend!
ReplyDeleteNo way is Uncle Ryan cooler than you! You must fight and win this! 😂
ReplyDeleteLisa
Aww, Sweet Cheeks...you just crushed your grandma's heart! Though I bet she's so sweet that she simply has MANY special people in her life! I hope she was happy to see you AND her uncle. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo. . . did you end up going with a treat, Ms. Not-Uncle-Ryan? :)
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, I think you're awfully cool.
Such a cute story, but how sad! I would have showed up with those treats and who cares if Uncle Ryan were there. LOL!!
