FRENCH TOAST FROM LEFTOVER PUMPKIN PIE!!! Yep- It's true!

Well, I already KNOW you all
think I am crazy..
so I might as well add to my legend!

I wasn't going to post this weekend
but this is too good not to share
while you still have leftover
PUMPKIN PIE!

WHAT do you do with
LEFTOVER PUMPKIN PIE?
Well, if you live with ME
you might just get a piece of
THIS!
Well. you will notice that I didn't
POLISH the silverware for you!
Shhh..close your eyes and only look at the toast, m'kay?

Do you have some of THIS around your house?
You know the crust gets kinda 'soggy'
and it loses a bit of its appeal, right?
Well, cheer up!
I have a FIX IT for you!

Here is what you will need:
Scrape a few tablespoons of pumpkin pie
off the crust and spread it on
one slice of
WHITE BREAD.
(It does NOT taste nearly as good
on whole grain bread-sorry)
Spread some softened CREAM CHEESE
on the another slice of white bread.
Whip 2 eggs with about 1/2 cup of
half and half and
a teaspoon (or more) of GOOD VANILLA!
Put the two slices of bread together and
DIP THEM into the EGG MIXTURE.

They should be saturated but not too soggy.
Place it in a preheated buttered frying pan
and cook over medium to medium-high heat.
Oh! Yeah! Baby!
Wait til ol' bj over at Sweet Nothings
sees this-
She is gonna think she died and went to
BREAKFAST HEAVEN!
She is my
"recipe tester"!

Now, I also made another one but forgot to
take pictures.
Same thing EXCEPT-
Spread one side with Cream Cheese,
Add 2 Tablespoons leftover Cranberry Sauce,
Put a few thin slices of turkey breast
on the other side.
Dip in egg and fry just like regular french toast.
Different and OH SO GOOD!

Easiest way to start a fight at the
DESSERT TABLE!
You all have a great rest of the weekend.
I am recovering from a
FRENCH TOAST COMA!

  1. Your French toast ideas sound soooo good! I'm not crazy picky about everything needing to be "just so", but that last picture of the pie is seriously disturbing!! :) -Jenn

  19. oh, I know, I'll buy a day old pumpkin pie at Kroger and make this. We don't get pumpkin pies because the man of the house prefers apple, or cherry, but no sweet tater or punkin.

  30. Oh my word, this looks good! Would you believe we didn't have pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving??? We opted for apple and pecan instead. But don't worry, I had plenty of pumpkin spice coffee. :)

  31. That looks interesting, Diana. I love French toast and haven't had it in awhile. No more pumpkin pie, it doesn't last long in this family. :) I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, and thank you for the e-card. I loved all the Autumn leaves swirling around.

  37. Well from one Crazy Gal to another this is absolute Brilliance! Nom-Nom!!! Thank You for Sharing this delish Breakfast Treat... alas, in our Home the Pumpkin Pie never quite gets to Leftover Status... so I will have to wait to try this when I secretly buy another one and don't tell the Fam until AFTER I've made this Inventive Breakfast! *Shhhhh... winks* ... 38. Excuse me...did you say "left over" pumpkin pie?? That doesn't happen in my house! But MAN, does this look AMAZING! I am so excited to tell you though that there is tiny sliver wrapped in foil (that hubby did not find) that I am going to try this! Thanks for the great tip!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ain't NO leftover pumpkin pie here girlfriend! We eat it up. I feel as though I would love to just lay my face down in the pie and start eatin'!! That recipe looks and has to be good. I will remember the one with turkey! xoxo

  40. Oh my gosh...that sounds amazing. Too bad I am a day late. That pie finally disappeared yesterday!! Rats!

    ReplyDelete
  41. You are an evil genius. Seriously???? I wonder if sweet potato pie would work. That's all we have left!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Can you say Yummy?! Oh my...this sounds so good. I no longer have pumpkin pie and I don't think pecan pie will do this French toast any justice, so if one happens to get made, I'll definitely be trying this! ;)
    Enjoy your week Diana!
    Hugs!

  43. Yum, Yum! I really don't care for pumpkin pie, but boy does this French toast look delicious!! I've been eating a piece of left over coconut cream pie a day, :)

  44. Now that is brilliant! Last night I made potato cakes, but mixed in the left over bread stuffing to the potatoes!!! Poured gravy over the top and done, yum.

    ReplyDelete
  45. This is brilliant. I could even use pie filling with cream cheese with our pie being all gone. Love this!

  46. you are BAAAADDDD as usual! I am still snickering about poor BJ being your tester. That girl needs another recipe like your poor husband needs another piece of fruit on his head while he's sleeping.

  47. Well, your title surely got my attention! And I can't wait to try this! I don't have any pumpkin pie on hand at the moment, so this is getting pinned!
