SHEETS AND SHADOWS AND SHUDDERS

SHEETS

My father always had a saying

that if someone drank

too much they were

THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND.

Well, I am not a drinker

so that saying has a whole

different connotation to me.

Yep!

I think of it literally-
I love the smell of line-dried sheets,

don't you?


SHADOWS

I love the play of shadows on

the sheets, too.
They hang bright and white

as the sun hits them from the East.
However, I always stand facing

the West to hang them.

Why?

Because here is what I see.
My Hero and I have a really early appointment

this morning so I may be absent a bit today.

I am hoping my book order gets here today.

I tracked it and it is on its way!

Meanwhile, while I am waiting for those books

I might take a little trip to Walmart.

I can always get an education there.


SHUDDERS

Ummmm...excuse me sir (?)

I think you could probably get by 

wearing a

MEDIUM- the LARGE 

looks a little BIG on you!

Just another DUMMY shopping at 

Walmart!

    Yes, the shadow play on the clothes line is something I too enjoy
    And I would just love to face west the whole day if that is the view.

    Line dried sheets are the best! Not only do they smell wonderful, they have a crispness that you can't get from the dryer.

    My mom refused to have a dryer even if we paid for it. She loved her sheets dried outside - even on the cold days when they froze.

    All my clothes are line dried as I have no dryer that's the way it is, but most of the time the sun does help.
    Walmart does attract some odd people.

    My sheets are going out on the line today, too. I love the freshness and crispness. That view! You have a great one of the lake. Girl, you better stay out of Wal-Mart. Craziness is contagious! Little Chuckie up there in the buggy has a little too much eyeliner on, don't you think? LOL!

    I love line dried sheets too. And your view is beautiful! Funny how Wal-Mart always has the most, um, interesting characters in it no matter where you are. Why is that? Lol. Oh the sights I've seen. Egad.

    Diana, That is the one thing my daughter misses at her new house. She always hung things out in good weather. Nothing smells better than line dried sheets. My Mother said that Three sheets to the wind saying also. She even said, "drunker than old Cooter Brown." Wonder who he was. Hope your day is fun. Take care, xoxo,Susie

    Thanks for the laugh !! I can always count on you..I never hung my clothes out before..EVER..But when I moved here there was a pole hole in my back yard so..Why not?? and my dryer is very noisy..

    I love that whole "sheets blowing in the wind" thing, too, and the smell is incredible! That being said, I haven't had an outside clothesline for 20+ years. The last one I had was at the first house we purchased in Scottsdale, AZ. It was one of those retractible, multi-line types that was just outside the laundry room door. I could literally hang up one load, and it would be dry before I hung up the next! Yep, that's what happens when you have a dry heat....lol! My view wasn't nearly as pretty as yours, but I was facing a beautiful grapefruit tree!

    Your Walmart photos are too funny, Diana! When we lived in Yuma, AZ, I was convinced that there was a hidden camera doing those "People of Walmart" photos! There were times when I thought I might go blind seeing things I just could not un-see!

    LOL.... That is a beautiful sight! We don't have a clothes line at this house - but I don't really miss it. It's nice to have a dryer that works. When we were newly married and our kids were younger we had second hand - often non-working appliances. So - I'm a happy camper now that I have things that work and can afford to get things fixed when they occasionally break. :-) That's a lot to be grateful for!

    Hi Diana,
    The idea of fresh dried sheets sounds lovely, but my dyer must do since if I hung my sheets out back they'd probably disappear! Hey maybe that Walmart shopper had his pants stolen off the cloths line!!! One of my favorite things is shadow play. Your view is breathtaking.

    I do my grocery shopping at Walmart and I am SO glad that I don't see people like that while I'm there. Otherwise, I might need to move! LOL! I bet your sheets smell good after hanging to dry.

    I had a laugh or two. I too like the sheets outside. If it is a god day. I put other items out.

    You know the saying. When you go out. Make sure your under garments are clean and white. You never know .

    So you know what hangs out sometimes on my line after the sheets come in . And I really don't care who puts there hand over their mouth. They are cleaned and paid for. Right?

    I'll hang your laundry out any time! What a view! Yes, one of my favorite wonderful fragrances is line-dried sheets. No one else around here every got quite the thrill that I do, but there's nothing like smelling that fresh air in the sheets as I pull them up toward my chin at night. Glorious Wisconsin summertime breezes! Love the photos...and the shadows. The next-to-last one, not so much. Yikes. LOL

    Gorgeous view!!! Wow! I like how sheets look on a clothes line, and they can dry in a few minutes here. But I live in the city, and often when I have dried something outside it has an unpleasant smell. Not like it use to be... When I was young, my mom hung our clothes outside most of the year, because it is sunny and warm enough most of the year. xoxo Su

    There is nothing better than sheets dried on the line. I do not have a clothesline put up yet, but we just finished putting up a fence around our "red neck hot tub" area and one of the fence posts will make the perfect post for one side of the clothesline. We just have to dig another hole and buy another fence post to install. So, many jobs to do around here before we have it the way we want it. Work, work, work . . . Connie is becoming a very dull girl:)

    I love the smell of fresh sheets straight from the line, too, Diana! What a gorgeous view you have as you hang your laundry. I really miss not having a clothes line, I always used to hang everything up, except in the winter time. I think I will skip the shopping trip to Walmart!! Can't wait to hear about your book news!

    I don't line dry my sheets as I did when I was little helping Mom doing it = I should - but I am such a weirdo for drier softner sheets, love the smell (chemicals yay) and super softness............but I should for a million good reasons.

    That view is beautiful through the sheets :-) I can't hang out laundry, too many allergies with Hayley and Jerry. I remember my mom always hung clothes out and one time a bird made a nest in the pant leg of my dad's jeans! LOL. Have a lovely day!

    When I was growing up, we had a clothes line and I remember how we loved the fragrance of the laundry. When I was first married we had a line, but everything was so stiff so we stopped line drying them. Here in our town, unless you live in an old area, you can't have clothes lines. My girls often hang their clothes from the umbrella attached to their patio table.

    We always hung our clothes/sheets out for years! Then I didn't have a clothes line, and the rest is history! smile... I do have a friend who still hangs her clothes out on nice days!! A person can get into trouble at Wal-Mart!! (Obviously!) ha!

    I've aways thought there is nothing better then to go to bed smelling the wonderful aroma of sheets having been hung on the line! I hang all my clothes and linens on the line, the only thing I don't is towels. Saves energy and really feel a sense of connection with woman of years before.

    I still have an ancient clothes line outdoors. I am so glad I do not live in a ritzy area where the authority tells you what color you can paint your home or how tall your dog can be! Ugh! I am not a policy follower since the days long ago at Catholic school. I had my life long fill!

    I love fresh sheets hanging on the line.
