Sometimes when we have things
for a while,
we look at them
but don't really see them anymore.
This PICTURE
is on the mantle of the fireplace
is on the mantle of the fireplace
in the dining room.
Sometimes I forget how pretty it is.
MyHero bought this oil painting for me in 2000
for our 25th Anniversary.
Back then we lived in the
European Colonial Revival
in the hysterical historical district.
She is an old beauty.
It hung over the fireplace in our living room there.
This dining room is such a hard room
to get good pictures in.
It is flooded with light from morning til night
(little rhyme-every time)
You can see more of the dining room here
Soon we will be able to eat out on the
porch off the dining room if we want to....
Now-lest you think I am
Oh-So-Perfect...
See the china hutches built in on either side
of the fireplace?
Come in for a little closer look....
Do you see it?
There on the 2nd shelf...on the left....
Just so you know-
I am going to remove this today.
Cuz I don't want you making fun of me for having
CHRISTMAS FOR EASTER...
This was a sweet gift from
THE GLITTER QUEEN...
Donna @ MyShabbyChateau.
She REALLY HAS to change her name.
Seriously!
I bet even her sweet pup has glitter on it!
Look for yourself!!!!
I'm RIGHT!!!!
See what I mean?
Hope you all have a Sparkly Day
and appreciate the beauty around you!
That painting is beautiful, Diana! I love your whole dining room. The built in hutches are wonderful, even when there are some stray Christmas items still about. lol (I would have never known.)
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with your dining room Diana. It is so soft, and simply elegant. You have done an outstanding job decorating such a lovely room!
ReplyDeleteDiana, you have a beautiful home, and the painting is gorgeous! I love the Christmas item...it is so pretty! No wonder you forgot it on the shelf!
ReplyDeleteDeb
Hi Diana! Oh, I love your pretty dining room and there is 'our' fabric! Oh, so pretty too. Your painting over the fireplace is gorgeous and I spy those running bunnies that I love. The builtins! OH, honey, I want to live there! Now you keep going and showing us your lovely home. You know we love this stuff!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Diana that painting is beautiful...your whole dining room is a stunner!! Love the pretty paint color you have on the walls too.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture and your dining room. Don't worry about that little something in your china cabinet cause...without Christmas (birth of Jesus) there wouldn't be a reason for Easter (Jesus resurrection), they do go together.
ReplyDeleteYou have my dream room there missy! A dining room with a fireplace and gorgeous built ins surrounding it. Love the back sliders out to a porch and that fabulous ceiling!! You have the room decorated beautifully. And your little Christmas item matches everything else in the room so well that you might as well just leave it there. No one will ever notice it is for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing Diana!!!
Have a great day!
XO Barbara
it is such a romantic room and the painting compliments that perfectly, what a wonderful gift!
ReplyDeleteYour home is just gorgeous! Can I pick that table for EASTER?? LOL those built in hutches are so pretty...love all the built in storage space of an old home..I'm remembering my grandmothers house that looked simuliar to the one in that photo. She had built in hutches too. I'll try to put up pictures sometime. Great memories...
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Gert
I heard a woman speak at our church once about the significance of the manger scene, and decided I would display mine year round in the china cabinet. I take it out at Christmas, but it's there for the Easter Bunny to see in the cabinet!
ReplyDeleteYou have a gorgeous dining room and I love the built-ins as well as the chandelier.
Beautiful Diana and gorgeous built-ins, Christmas glitter and all. I am thinking eating outside for you might be delayed - looks like freezing rain is headed your way. Hopefully the weather will soon turn toward spring. Seize the day! Jane
ReplyDeleteSo, so pretty! The built-ins are perfect for displaying your treasures. Hope you enjoy the day.
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is gorgeous! right out of a magazine! so elegant.
ReplyDeleteYou do have a gift for decorating, Diana.
We are still waiting for warm weather here. I heard you got a little snow yesterday??
Love you.
Debbie

Beautiful room!
ReplyDeleteSo sparkly... I can see why you were gifted such a sparkly gift... And it does go well in the surroundings! I wouldn't have noticed the Christmas for Easter--- if you hadn't pointed it out!
I was too busy wondering how I could get a closer look at the painting over the mantel!
Don't be surprised if you catch me tip toeing around looking at all the rooms in your home! :)
your-dining-room-is-beeeeeeautiful...!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyou are a born decorator. one born, with an "eye"... to be able to "see" what will look stupendous, in a particular room.
and I am so NOT like you!!!! -grin-
Love your beautiful Dining Room and that Painting! You're right...The Glitter Queen would suit Donna!! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jan ♥
Your dining room is magazine-worthy, Diana! My goodness! I think we can overlook the Christmas decor since it blends in so beautifully that anyone would overlook it! ;) Funny girl!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, elegant room, Diana!
ReplyDeleteDiana, I love your dining room. Your curtains are so pretty, I now you made them. Last week when my sister came over, she wanted me to go she her new decorations...so when I saw her new bedspread and pillow shams..she points out new pictures that our sister Jeanie gave her. I laughed, cause one was a picture I gave Jeanie...the first nice picture I ever bought for my own home ....that's how our décor changes. :):):) I love your picture, you will use as long as you can find a place for it. I love the Glitter Queen Donna. Have you seen her lately? She's is looking good !! Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful room. I think we need a photo home tour of your entire house (hint hint)! Have a blessed day from rainy Missouri!
ReplyDeleteYour home is so lovely and that chandelier is to die for....gorgeous. I have my eye on my Mom's even though my decor is 'farm practical' I think it would still work. I love seeing your beautiful home.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Katie poops glitter, too! Love the oil above the fireplace. Love you house...you should leave it to me in the will.
ReplyDeleteMy tree is still in the living room...wanted to do an Easter tree, but after the Valentine's got rustled, I thought best not to. Now to hide the tree.
Diana,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Dining room and painting. You are so right, we stop noticing things always there. That's why artwork is best rotated throughout the house to gain new appreciation.Your painting is beautiful and a wonderful anniversary gift from your hero.
Have a happy day,
xoxo,
Vera
i just love the hutches, diana!! beautiful room!
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is just gorgeous. Diana. And the painting is just beautiful. We know that you really keep the crown jewels hidden behind it:) The built ins are gorgeous too. I forget, did you two create those yourself? And aren't you the funny one? Yep, Katie is often dusted in glitter. Everything looks better with a little sparkle, I think. And better watch out, or you soon might start calling me "The Wicked Witch of the Midwest"!!
ReplyDeleteI love moving things around for that very reason! You are living in beauty lady! Love your dining room.
ReplyDeleteJust love this room.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a sweet glittered gift.
Hope you thaw out soon up there. We're in the So-Cal mountains and it got down to the 50s last night. We turned on the little heater.
Hugs and stay warm,
Kelley~

ReplyDeleteCompletely beautiful! You have a picture-perfect dining room!
ReplyDeleteYou have a flair and talent for decorating, and I absolutely adore your living room! The oil painting is gorgeous and looks stunning on your mantle. I wouldn't worry about a piece in your cabinet that may be Christmas themed, it blends in perfectly! Any signs of spring yet there? Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteDiana, Your dining room is sooo beautiful! I love the built-ins and what great space to display your pretty things.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

ReplyDeleteYour dining room is swoon worthy! Seriously, who would want to spend time in this sun kissed room? I'm all for alfresco dining, but this space is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteFYI ~ just bought a couple of bags of glitter eggs at Walmart today. Less than $2 for a dozen. You might need some! '-)

ReplyDeleteDiana, I love, love your dining room. It looks so pretty with the floral fabric and that gorgeous chandelier! Your painting is lovely and it's in the perfect spot. I know what you mean. We look at things in our homes everyday, but do we really see them...sometimes it's good to just stop and really look at something and remember why we brought it into our home in the first place. Jeese, I'm sounding all Zen like. Been watching to much "Life" on Netflix. Love that series. I say to keep your pretty little Christmas glitter piece right there all year round. So pretty.
ReplyDeletehugs

Wow, what a gorgeous dining room! And the chandelier is magnificent! Thank you for sharing such beauty!

ReplyDeleteDiana,
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is so pretty. You need to show more of that gorgeous home of yours. Love the way the light comes in this room.
Kris
Lovely and serene would be two words for your rooms. Life can be so chaotic, it's nice to have rooms that can calm you down like those.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing a bit more of your home. Those built in cabinets are awesome! Love how your dining room is bathed in sunlight.
ReplyDeleteI could have sworn I commented but I don't see it. Between Blogger and my lack of technical skills...who knows? :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous room with so many beautiful elements. I'd leave the "Christmas" there ~ who would question?
xo
Pat
Oh, I know what you mean....sometimes we pass things in our house and they have been with us for so long that we forget how pretty they are. What a nice picture this is from your husband, and you've shown it before, right? I remember it. Diana, I love the china hutches on each side of the fireplaces. They are so pretty and filled with all your special treasures. So, is that your old house that you lived in before with the pumpkins on the front porch? It is Jess' dream to live in a cottage like that someday. A lovely dining room you have, Diana. Lots of light coming in through the windows.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Such a welcoming and beautiful space :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous dining room. It's always so fun to get sneak peeks of your home. Keep them coming! PS. Before I even got to the name, I knew it was a Donna creation in your china cabinet. She is definitely the queen of glitter and so talented.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, Your dining room is gorgeous~~~So is your other home before this one! One can tell your HOUSE is truly a HOME~~~Love and family abounds everywhere~~~Blessings~~~Roxie

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful room Diana! Gorgeous light in there. I love Christmas for Easter.....that's a defence mechanism BTW. Have a happy weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is lovely, sunshine and all. The painting above the fireplace looks like it captures moment in time, a time long ago when life was not so complicated. I understand about the light being too bright in your dining room. My dining room faces south and I have a very limited amount of time on sunny days to take pictures in there.
