HAP-POE HALLOWEEN-Come See The Giveaway I Won!!! It's Spooktacular!

Do you LOVE
Edgar Allen Poe?
Did you read him when you were young
and find his stories horrifically macabre?

I did!
I think I was about 10 or 11 when I read
THE RAVEN
for the first time
(ah-maybe THAT is what's wrong with me)
and from there I went on to
The Telltale Heart and
The Pit & The Pendulum.
and then the rest of his works.

Well, guess what?!?!
I WON a book that contains four of his best stories!
It has POP UPS
I signed up for this give away over at
I hardly ever sign up for giveaways because I
am so richly blessed already...
but...POE?
Oh!  I had to do it.

Now-not only did Vera send the book~
You should SEE the packaging!
Sadly, you can't!
Why?  WELL-because I was
SO EXCITED to get this baby that I
TORE ALL THE WRAPPINGS OFF
before I photographed it.
I know-
BAD BLOGGER!

But here is what was in the package.
I tried to neaten it up a bit for you.
Two copies of his original works on velum.
The Raven & Annabel Lee.
and oh- Vera made wonderful tags
and there were cards in the package-
The pops up are quite "spooky"
Thank you SO much, Vera!
This is a GREAT addition to my library.
I am reading it tonight.
I have been saving it for
HALLOWEEN!

My 12 year old grandgirl, Lulu,
was here and asked if she could read
The Telltale Heart.
I let her.
She said- Well, that is weird, spooky.
Not scary spooky like movies today.

You got that right, Lulu.
There will never be another
EDGAR ALLEN POE.
He was scary before scary was cool.
Personally, I think he is a little
SCARY LOOKING
myself...but that is just a personal opinion.

Hap-POE Halloween to you.
Watch out for
THE RAVEN
that might be over your head
while you are out and about.
The chair is empty but the
legend lives on.

BOO

Last chance to sign up for the giveaway

Sweet Cheeks will do the drawing tomorrow.
I am in Milwaukee today visiting some
babies and their Mama & Daddy.
Catch ya later!

  4. Yes! I love Edgar Allan Poe also! I put lots of black birds from the Dollar Tree around in my living room for Halloween fun...reminds me of "The Raven" and also Alfred Hickcock's "The Birds". That book is just amazing...I love that artwork with the popups.

  9. Hello sweet lady, Okay are you ready for a funny store about Poe? My mom was with her friend in Baltimore looking at his grave. My mom had her iPhone out taking pictures of her and her friend. Her friend is a english teacher so really likes Poe. The video was on, I'm not sure why my mom must have hit the video button but the video shows my mom and her friend walking and out of no where this voice says HELP ME!! by Poe's grave Isn't that crazy, Happy Halloween!!

  16. Diana, wishing you a Boo spooktacular Halloween. So glad you are enjoying your win. Now you can see why brat me bought myself a set too. I had fun writing the Poe post and was excited when John drew the winners name, YOU ! Enjoy and thank you for putting this post up today. love that your Grand Lulu read Poe, it's refreshing a new generation will experience the best mastermind of horror. There is even a children's book geared to kids around 5 years old with great graphics and a less scary retelling of his stories.
    Hugs and Boo kisses,
    Happy Halloween!

  19. Oh, I don't think that giveaway you one went to a more appreciative and deserving recipient. Congrats- that is a very very COOL win.

I wrote piano music to one of his poems years ago when I was in high school in the dead of winter in late 1970s. I forgot all about that till just now. : - )

    SIRI's answer?
" BECAUSE POE WROTE ON BOTH!"

    ...think about it. ;)

I'm a fan of Poe too. I just adore his classy-scary settings and the way you are brought right into the scene. Too much gory stuff for me in the current batch of Halloween "entertainment!"
