WHAT????
THIS is a
SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS HERE!
This is what
THE BROTHER
has to say!
Someone ate the baby it's rather sad to say
Someone ate the baby so
Someone ate the baby so
she won't be out to play
We'll never hear her whiney cry
We'll never hear her whiney cry
or have to feel if she is dry
We'll never hear her asking
We'll never hear her asking
why why why
someone ate the baby.
Someone ate the baby it's absolutely clear
Someone ate the baby
cause the baby isn't here.
We'll give away her toys and clothes
We'll give away her toys and clothes
we'll never have to wipe her nose
Dad says that's the way it goes,
Dad says that's the way it goes,
someone ate the baby.
Someone ate the baby,
what a frightful thing to eat,
Someone ate the baby,
Someone ate the baby,
though she wasn't very sweet.
It was a heartless thing to do,
It was a heartless thing to do,
the policemen haven't got a clue
I simply can't imagine who would go and (burp) eat the baby.
I simply can't imagine who would go and (burp) eat the baby.
Shel Silverstein
Oh- Yeah
APRIL FOOL!
Gee, I was beginning to think that you could write a children's book!

Ooh I'm glad no one really ate the baby! LOL!
ReplyDeletethat was so good, and what darlins they are, oh that baby makes my heart melt,
ReplyDeleteLOL! She is a doll.
ReplyDeleteThat Shel! I had not remembered that one and wondered what kind of a whacked Mother Goose rhyme that was! LOL
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of Shel's goes something like this: There are too many kids in this tub. There are too many elbows to scrub. I just washed a behind that I know isn't mine. There are too many kids in this tub.
Makes me laugh every time!

ReplyDeleteDiana, Get me a spoon, I could eat that sweet baby :):) I remember my mom saying to the grandbabies," Oh I could just eat you up" ,as she kissing all over their faces. Hope you don' t get fooled today....but I am more worried about your Hero. LOL. xoxo,Susie

as I was reading it. This fellows new to me.
Those chubby cheeks are too cute!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA. So Silverstein! What darling pics of those grandkids!! ♥♥
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha! I forgot that it was April Fools Day! Cute!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering where that was going! I forgot it's April Fools Day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfectly cute story for today! Fits your family at this time! My favorite Shel poem - and I love them all - is the little girl who DID die after her parents did not buy her the pony she HAD to have! I'm so glad you reminded me of these fun books - digging them out for next time with the kids! Happy April Fool's Day, Diana!
ReplyDeleteI love Shel Silverstein. He wrote some of the songs sung by one of my favorite singes, Bobby Bare. So funny!
ReplyDeleteBright Eyes is looking beautiful in the photo.
Well, I'm glad no one REALLY ate that precious girl. You had me there for a minute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun April fools post . . . and what adorable grandchildren :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic photo! I'd forgotten it was April Fool's Day, too, but I sure do know Shel Silverstein. Can't help but wonder if the character Elaine Benis from Seinfeld is reading this and yelling at Shel, "Noooo, the Dingo ate cho baby!" (typed with an Aussie accent there)
ReplyDeleteI'm just getting up here; so forgiveness is necessary)
Xoxo
Darn, Diana, I don't know what it is about the reply part. I "see" the button here under my name and I see it in the other sites as well. I know they're replying so don't know what it could be. We'll work on it. You're such a sweetheart. Don't feel like you have to reply to everything, I know you're there, it's ok :D
ReplyDeleteOk, cleaning like crazy today, changing sheets, and getting a haircut all in prep for tomorrow. Cya when I can :)

ReplyDeleteYou sooooooooooooooooooo make me smile. And it's been ages since I thought of SS - what a funny guy.
ReplyDeleteThe pic of your gson is priceless - and that little precious sleeping angel, awl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're funny Diana! I got caught today. The first time in decades. I have been following Esther the Pig on You Tube and I read somewhere that Ellen Degeneres had adopted her and the article included all sorts of silly things and I believed everything. Although, I must admit I thought about it a lot and I did question a few of the things I had read. When I found out it was an April Fool's joke from Esther herself on her website when she said the adoption had fallen through because of some crazy demands they had made to Ellen, I felt so silly! But it did give me a chuckle though. I'm a good sport, after all! You should show Esther the Pig on You Tube to your grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful poem, Diana. Shel Silverstein is one of my favorites. Baby looks so precious in pink.
ReplyDeleteIt's April!!!
love,
~Sheri
What a cute poem...And the pictures to go with it. Bright Eyes...would be yummy to eat if we could do that.
ReplyDeleteI did play a April Fool on my dearest. At breakfast I told him Molly (our Shih Tzu) was staring under the bed...upon further investigation I found a dead mouse. Wish you could have seen his face.....HaHa April Fool...
Well, she is just cute enough to eat up! Fun Day :) Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteHaHa! Very cute -- the poem and Bright Eyes!

Ha! I've never heard that one before! :) Well, I'm glad no one ate that little doll! :) What a cutie pie. Yes, I do remember S&H Green stamps. It was my job to put them in the books. I'd use a damp wash cloth and press 'em down and stick them in the little books.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia;)
