ASK ME ANYTHING- PET PEEVES

Okay-
I lied- I was going to quit
yesterday BUT-
You asked for it.
You got it.
Question:
What are your pet peeves regarding blogging?
Answer:
I was hoping no one would ask me this because
I don't want to offend anyone.
But-you asked-
#1- No Reply bloggers that ask me a question.
I try to answer and have to back track through
links to TRY and find a way to answer them.
#2-Word verification.
It takes SO MUCH EXTRA time.
Sometimes the words are so garbled that
I have to re-enter it two or three times
before I get it right.
#3- Bloggers whose name does NOT appear
anywhere on the their blog.
If you're blog is
HAPPYLICIOUS and your real name
is not in your profile...and/or you don't
sign your name at the bottom of your blog
what am I supposed to call you-
Happy or Ms Licious?
Please identify yourself SOMEHOW on your
blog with a real name.
#4-No links back to your blog attached to your name.
I think when Google Plus came along and people
signed up for it they don't realize that a lot of times
it does NOT tie back to your email OR your blog.
So, if your are a NO REPLY blogger and
connected to Google Plus with no profile info
I can't contact you.
#5- Bloggers that are
MEAN GIRLS.
There are some people out there that are
so jealous of other bloggers that they
leave snarky comments.
I had one anonymous person that commented
all the time with one word.
CUTE
No matter what I posted-it was CUTE-
even to prayer requests.
If that is YOU-you need to get a life. LOL
You no longer leave comments on my blog
because I don't allow
ANONYMOUS comments any more!
#6-Blogs that have black backgrounds
with small white print.
I find them almost impossible to read.
#7- Blogs that have super small
fonts that are single spaced
and hard to read.
Sometimes all I can do on those
is look at the photos.

Okay then-
Now that I have that off MY chest
what are YOUR pet peeves?
And please don't say blogs about
Pet Peeves!

Come back tomorrow and I'll
show you what's cooking at our house.

  1. I agree with all of those. I have never had a mean blogger leave me comments. There is always a first time. You still have to answer OUR questions...

  2. Diana, I just don't understand anyone being mean. Surely there is something they could do even with their meaness, like pull weeds, stomp spiders. I don't like the dark backgroud/white letter thing. But I do not even know how to blog right, so who am I . I have my favorite sites and people, I have to admitt. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  3. Diana, I certainly agree with your peeves! I wish I could figure out my NO REPLY, but I tried and tried and couldn't get it.

  4. Good tips!! I don't like small fonts. It makes the blog had to read. Hope your doing well, Diana!

  5. I have to agree with your Pet Peeves, Diana. Well said!

  6. You hit the nail on the head girl. I have heard of mean bloggers. So far I've lucked out in that category. Didn't their mom ever tell them that "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all?". My mama taught me. I think my worst pet peeve is trying to figure out their name. Especially if I want to feature them on SYC.
    hugs,

  7. Well said! One of my pet peeves is when someone says, thanks for sharing.....that is so generic!!!

Looks like something good is happening in your kitchen!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I agree with all of them, and could not have said it better myself, word verification is so bothersome, it has been the reason I stopped following a few bloggers,

    ReplyDelete
  9. I agree with you on all of those and I have to add my own. When it comes to the printed word, I am a grammar geek. You have the technology at your fingertips on the correct usage and spelling of almost everything. I have a friend that used the word myself incorrectly and it drives me crazy. Ahh, such is life.

  10. I agree and would add::
24/7 rolling and pop up advertisments and the "click here, click there" to finish reading what you already clicked on to read.. ugg

  11. I agree with EVERYTHING you have said!

Oh, my! Is someone crushing pretzels? This looks dangerous!:-)

    Have a good Tuesday!

  12. Like everyone, I agree with what you just said Diana... sometimes word verifications are sooo bad I end up not even commenting after three tries... and I also would rather someone not even commented on my post than just leave one word like "cute"... if I am going to read a post and take the time to comment, I make it personal and pertaining to their post... I have had my fair share of mean women comment (I refuse to call them ladies, they are not)... but I usually publish them anyway so everyone else can see who they are... then I write them off and don't worry about them... not sure what the "no reply" thing is?... I must have "reply" though because you always do!... xoxo Julie Marie (aka Idyll Licious???)... tee hee hee...

  14. Ok, I had to do that. :P

I'm sorry if I'm still a no reply blogger....I nearly lost my mind trying to rectify it!!!

I have the same pet peeves as you.
Also, I can hardly read boring blogs. Boring blogs are so boring.
    Am I being redundant??

    XOXO

  15. I do need to tell you that I didn't realize that I was a no reply blog until you told me...Then I thought how do I fix that. Did a search for blogger no reply. Seems I didn't have the box next to my email checked. Hoping this has solved the problem..

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't read a lot of blogs, nor do I post on mine every day, but some of your peeves are very true.
I had to block some from posting on mine, about 3 years ago, because they were leaving 'stuff' that was not very nice.

    ReplyDelete
  17. oooh, I think I know what's cooking at your house... does it involve chocolate and caramel and a big baking dish?

And, do me a favor and tell me if my blog is an easy read or the new colors/font I've chosen are difficult.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I so have to agree with Susan and Sonny, both are pet peeves of mine.
I've enjoyed this so much Diana and also agree with not having your name on the blog at least some where:)

    ReplyDelete
  19. LOL Diana - I have to agree with you...all of it!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I so agree with you Diana! I was holding my breath as I read through your pet peeves afraid that my blog may fall under one of the categories :) Thanks for being so honest!

    Big hugs to you.

  21. I've decided that most people that are no reply bloggers don't understand what that means. Word verification is a pain. I did one 3 times the other day and I said to myself if that doesn't work...3 strikes and you're out! I do blame Google a bit for it's difficulty in getting around and finding all those details.
I know a blogger who shut down her blog because she got fed up with the mean things people said to her. She had comment moderation on so none of us saw them, but she just couldn't take it anymore. That's sad isn't it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I enjoyed your ask me anything posts very much. I wish you lived closer to me ,friend.
    Smiles, Dottie

  23. All I can say to your pet peeves is . . . "what she said."
I share them all -- with one addition: bloggers who use weird fonts in pale colors; can't read them either, so I just move along.

It really annoys me to write a thoughtful comment, and then find some sort of garbled word verification at the end ... ACK. I've found UPSIDE DOWN letters, and letters in the Russian alphabet. I don't have the Russian alphabet on my keyboard. Nuts. Moderate, or eliminate Anonymous comments -- but I don't think it should be up to the nice commenters to take more time to verify.

Wow, I am really cranky this morning! :-P Well, I lost my Mod Podge and have to use my hard coat one ... AND my dog is hiding my glue brush because she loves to chew on the handle. She's lucky she's cute!
Great post -- let me let off some steam.
    Love you !
    Cass

  24. LOL Diana I LOVED this post!..My pet peeves is NO COMMENTS! LOL Im glad people take time to read my blog, I think they do? According to the numbers they do but why not take the extra time to leave a comment and let me know you were there? Don't know what my problem is, I have this 'thing' obviously with commenting.. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oops - I don't think I had my name anywhere on my blog. If I ever start it back up, I'll be sure to rectify that.
I know it's been said before, but I wish there were a way to show I've read the blog and like it, but I just can't think of anything to say that hasn't already been said!

  26. Agree, Agree and Agree! :) Great answers!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Snarky must be a Wisconsin word. You never hear it here in the west but I have heard it from you and my cousin Paulette. I agree with a lot of your answers - especially small text. I always figure the person who uses small text is young and still has wonderful vision unlike the older generation whose eyes are going downward one step at a time.

    ReplyDelete
  28. "cute" just teasing you :)

I don't think I've ever heard you complain before. It was a bit strange coming back to blog land and reading it. I think I still have word verification on, not sure, it's been a while since I looked around on my blogs. It saved me from lots of automated spam that I was getting especially on the blog with downloads. It is handy even if it is annoying.

I hope you and your family are well. I'm looking forward to seeing all that I have missed here. I'm hoping to not find Sweetcheeks in college already lol!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree, Diana. I do faithfully visit and comment on some who have word verification as they are worth the trouble. Sometimes I type in anything just so it will go to something easier for me to read. I do give up if I can't get it by the 3rd time. I like the verification system Tammy has at The Peanut that has simple math problem to complete for proving you're not a robot! When I started blogging Brenda at Cozy Little House helped me set everything up and her advice to not allow anonymous comments has kept me from having 99% spam off comments. I have never had an ugly comment but I think that's because I have such nice people visiting. And yes, black backgrounds are very hard to read. I do read a couple, again because they are worth it.
And my name is Dewena! I think it's on my About Me section!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Blogs where you have to type in your name, blog addy and e-mail addy before you can comment. It stays if you answer all the time, I think, but I don't always comment. I must be lazy and don't want to type all that imformation all the time. Mean minded people's blogs and no pictures (of course there aren't many of those. We all like to show off...lol.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with most of your pet peeves...but I have even a few you didn't mention. And bloggers need to be nice....that is just the way it should be...if you don't like something don't say anything.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Agree with them all, Diana.
Also hate when I have to type in all kinds of info just to leave a comment. Word Press, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree with all of your pet peeves!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh gosh....so much to remember! I'm still trying to get the hang of this blogging thing! LOL But, I'm so glad I wandered into yours! I'm enjoying your posts and can't wait to see what's going on in your kitchen!
Okay, I'm outta here to make sure I have my name on my posts! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. ALL OF THE ABOVE, LOL, LOL and LOL!!! You mentioned them perfectly and I feel I have to put up with those intruders, so I don't miss out on the "mostly" wonderful blogger friends, such as you, that I so love and wouldn't want to not ever know about! Yes, all you mentioned above it's really annoying to death, at times! Thanks for your sweet comment my dearest, lovely lady. I'm envious of that cutie with the rolling pin, I just left my sweet Little ones and now I'm already missing them so much!!!
    Big hugs,

  36. I hate blogs with music in the background.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Most of things really frustrate me too, Diana. I think you covered it, but if I thought about it for awhile, I could come up with some more hahaha. Oh, I just remembered one, I love pop-up comments way better than all others. It's so much easier to comment, right?

    Love,
    ~Sheri

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oooops, I meant 'most of these things.' I think I type as fast as you, as you mentioned earlier.

  39. Wowee! Complain, complain!! ;-) I loved all this and your pet peeves are all legit! I learned something new, too. I don't think my name is anywhere on my blog and I'm not sure where to put it.

Also, sometimes I don't comment because I either feel what I have to say might not be very original, clever, or just plain inadequate. (My insecurities are showing.)

Chatty Crone pointed the no reply out to me and I was grateful.

And I can't say enough how annoying word verification is. Grrrr. I can never read it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Amen! So many of your pet peeves are mine as well. The no reply blogger thing drives me nuts because I don't want anyone to think I'm ignoring them, it's just my hands are tied if I have no way to contact you. Same with that Google+. Ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think you hit on every one that I don't like too. I also don't like the comment section on Wordpress blogs because you have to fill out so much ID info along with your comment. I'm sure I've offended several just by my writing that, but it's the truth. It's a hassle to leave comments on Wordpress blogs!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree with all of your answers. I especially hate the fact that a blogger could intentionally be mean and hateful. If they don't like something, go somewhere else but don't be mean. It's hard for me to imagine any of the bloggers out there being mean, but I know they exist.

    Good answers.

    Judy

  43. Oh.....I HATE THAT WORD VERIFICATION THINGY!!!! I can NEVER get it right the first time and if I want to post a comment it usually takes me a few tries before I figure it out.

  44. Wow! I learned something about myself. I do sometimes leave very short comments and then sometimes I don't know when to shut up :) Someone up above mentioned that she didn't always have something to say, that had not already been said many times, by others . . . me , too . . . that is usually when I say "so pretty", great job", etc. I know that I would rather have someone visit and leave a very short note, than leave nothing at all.

I guess the thing that I dislike most is when I get a new follower and they don't leave a comment, because then I have no way of saying thank you or visiting their blog and making a new friend. Also whenever I get this new Google+ thing instead of their blog . . . I don't like that.

Even with this said, I Love To Blog:) These last two years has been wonderful. I have made so many new friends and I look forward to visiting and seeing what's going on in their corner of the world.

I'll be back to see what's cooking in your kitchen:)
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)

  45. WORD VERIFICATION!!!!!!! i HATE it. I know I have it on my blog because of all the SPAM I get. By the way..your post today was "cute." heehee

    ReplyDelete
  46. Many thanks. These are all mine, too. My only other pet peeve is all of the people in the world who don't follow my blog. What's up with that :)

  47. Go, Diana! You nailed them all! Love this and I appreciate your candor!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Amen!! Well said..We have the same granite...

  49. Hi Diana, You go girl!! I agree with your pet peeves completely and have one to add. Bloggers who you visit all the time and will only reply via email and never visit your blog back. Just rude!!

Thank you so much for your visit and vote in the contest. You are a gem.

  51. Oh I may have to link to this so I don't have to say all these things, which I also find annoying. Very cogent list! It may also be cute. = >

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have no idea if I am a no-reply blog. Am I?????

    ReplyDelete
  53. Great list, and I agree! And maybe the person who wrote Cute all the time was a secret admirer and was just referring to your beauty. :)

    xo Kat

  54. Well said my friend...I agree with them all!
Can't wait to see what's cooking:)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Seems we all have similar peeves. One would think with everyone having the same peeves that the servers (not sure if that is the right terminology) would listen up and correct these problems. At least develop an easier interface between google+ and blogger.
I have not had issues with mean bloggers but I do remember encountering mean people on RMS. I did get spam, mostly advertising, so I had to go back to turning off anonymous comments.
Begging your pardon but you are "cute!
    xoGinger

    ReplyDelete
  56. I agree with each and every one of them! I think they are valid reasons too!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Very well said, Diana! I hate that word verification thing! And I have been lucky (so far any way)to not have any mean bloggers leave any comments. I just don't understand why on earth anyone could be mean like that! I guess because they feel as if they are anonymous. Though I did recently have a very mean person buy something from my Etsy shop!

Ok, I guess one of my biggest pet peeves is bloggers who NEVER, ever respond to comments that people leave. Or visit their blogs. Ever! If I leave a comment multiple times on a blog, and I never hear from that person, not even to receive a visit from them, then I just don't bother to comment on their posts again.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Wow, Diana, you are amazing! I just read through all your questions and answers! You don't waste a single minute of a single day!
Thanks for the sweet comment on my closet makeover. I hear you on the sugar addiction! I need to be VERY careful or the 40+ lbs I've lost will be right back on my hips in a heartbeat!
I hope you have a great week!
    Donna

  59. How about those that their emails change letters if you click on reply.....that would be me.
I so agree.. I also agree with Teresa where you have to fill out an application to leave a message.
IF someone feels they need to leave a negative comment they shouldn't be reading blogs.
    I love your honesty girlfriend.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I relate to this list! How about people that don't use apostrophes correctly. My daughter is currently texting me about places that I did not properly use them when showing possession. She calls herself a grammar snob and I didn't pass her test :) I think I will make her my editor!

    ReplyDelete
  61. yep! I often receive questions from people on how I did certain projects...often, if not always, I can't reply and most times are not even bloggers. I feel bad, because I don't want to look like I am just ignoring them

    ReplyDelete
  62. Oh my gosh, THANK YOU!!! Trying to hunt someone down to reply to something is a friggin' nightmare. And that Google Plus crap is, just that, crap. And the word verification. Really? Ugh, turn. it. off.

    ReplyDelete
  63. your pet peeves are MY pet peeves! Especially those first two! I hope your post gets some people to get rid of those!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Well said Diana..my pet peeves too. Also, their choice of course but I love to see where everyone is from!

    Blessings,
    Gert

  65. Oh man, I totally have complained about these same points! I hate wandering around trying to find someone's name.
But i do need to go see if my google= leads back to my blog. I'm pretty sure it does but haven't checked in a while. Ha!

  66. *Cute* post. JUST JOKING! You know, I'm glad you brought up how annoying that word is. I once had a "friend" call my wedding ring "cute". I was like, "Oh NO you didn't!" BABIES are cute. Not wedding rings or homes (that word makes it sound cheap and childish and diminishes the effort the homeowner put forth to make it beautiful). And I also agree with all of your pet peeves. AMEN!

    XOXO,

  68. wow, 72 comments, you must have hit a sore spot. I agree with you...the word verification and the no-reply bloggers drive me crazy. Sometimes I can't leave a comment because the letters/numbers scribble is too small. too much work for me. this is supposed to be fun!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I like your list Diana.
I have some of the same peeves but the snarky comments are at the top of the list.
I haven't gotten a lot, but once in awhile.
Hope all is well over on your side of the state!

  70. Love these Q&A posts! I agree with you on these blog pet peeves! Mine is driving e nuts right now, some comments from others go to Verizon email, some go to google, comments show up no reply and I can't figure out how to get everything back together! I think google+ messed it up. Argh! Hugs, Leena

  71. I am with you on the black with white text, the verification, and one more thing... I have trouble reading script font in posts unless it is pretty large... And even then... Tough.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Good post!!! You have pointed out problems without being mean about it. I like that! Looks like something yummy is cooking at your house!

    ReplyDelete
  73. haha...couldn't resist :)
Thanks again for your help with my no reply issue...so far so good again!! Laurel

    ReplyDelete
  74. I don't like small or hard to read font, either. And I don't like that word identification thing. I normally have to do it two or three times to get it right and end up closing it down without posting the comment I typed because I couldn't get past that. And I can't imaging a one word comment over and over again. Cute would be appropriate if it were a story about Sweet Cheeks, but even then, a few more words could clarify what is so cute about the post.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yep, yep, yep all of mine too. I think I am good, I am not on the pet peeve list. The cute is fine once in a while, if something is just cute. However, when you know it is snarky and no good intent, or thought, get on out!LOL

    ReplyDelete
  76. LOVE THIS!!! And I agree with all of them especially Google plus since you can not find the actual persons blog and small fonts!!

Thanks so much for always coming by...My Remodel is almost done and I will be posting about it soon..

  78. Your sweet LuLu just gets prettier with each passing year - such a Cutie!! I've made that recipe and added some "adult beverage" to the jello mixture and called it "Margarita Salad" - good that way too!! YUM!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I totally agree with each of these! I think the cowardly thing is for someone to leave a rude or mean comment and no way to identify them or "find" them. Oh well...no more anonymous comments on my blog either.

I think there are a lot of newbies that don't realize they are No-replies or do not have an email addy reflected. The word verification drives me wild!!! To me, I have to move on...cannot distinguish the numbers/letters.

  80. Did you mention music? You don't know how many times I've been sitting quiet early in the morning, catching up on my blog reading, while all my kids are asleep, and music suddenly starts blaring and scares the mess out of me.... I like music but not while I'm reading blogs. And one of my pet peeves is when you comment on someone's blog many times, many many times and they never come over and visit back. That's a little annoying but at the same time I realize how much time it takes and when you have 87 comments... how can one go visit everyone that comments and still stay sane? Oh well, I always enjoy my visits here because you are nuts. And I like to chuckle at your crazy...ness. And I would never say "cute" ... Around here, we say "nice." haha

    ReplyDelete
  81. I don't like word verification either. If I really like the blog I admit I will jump through the hoops to leave a comment, but I don't like figuring out those fuzzy words. It takes me a couple trys sometimes. I also don't like music or excessive advertising on blogs. It's been fun reading all these comments.

    xo Danielle

  82. Yep, I hate when I have to dig and hunt for a way to respond to a question. Why ask if I can't answer you???

    ReplyDelete
  83. Diana,
My pet peeve is my following others and their not following me or commenting on my posts. You are much to generous and you don't have to comment so much, but you do. You are a busy blogger and so thoughtful and kind.

Also, I don't know much about blogging and when I ask questions, I get complicated answers. I really don't know much about linking and would really like to.

    You're a great blogger!

    Thanks,

    Bonnie

    ReplyDelete
  84. I think we all share your pet peeves! lol I answered some questions today and mentioned YOU! heehee! Enjoy your weekend my friend!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I ended up reading the comments, too and I agree with the music. I DON'T like music...it's not usually my taste so I keep my speakers turned off. That's a nuisance! Great responses!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yay for you! I agree with everything you said. But I also have another one -- those cute little things that move on a blog page. You know, like falling leaves or little stars and hearts. They are so distracting and make it very difficult to read the post! Okay, I'm done!

    ReplyDelete
  87. OK, here are a couple of mine.

Bloggers who do not answer your questions.

Bloggers who you leave comments to a number of times and never respond to you in anyway...ie leave you a comment or email you.

Bloggers who respond to your comment in their comments section on their blog post. I don't have time to hunt through their comments to find a response, can't they just email you back by just hitting reply in their emails?

I agree with all of yours!
I like this post a lot!
