Mirror, Mirror
on the wall,
Ain't Your Owner
Got No Sense
At All?
WHAT happened here?
Let me 'splain, Ricky.
Buckle your seat belts
this is a longer post
than normal for me.
The frame
started out looking like this....
I was lucky enough to get 2
of these frames from a dear friend.
BUT...
This one looked a little sad,
don't you think?
So...bring on the ASCP
in Antique White.
Not bad- not bad at all...
but I want to gussy it up a little...
you know..kinda like
when I put on lipstick.
Gold...I'm thinking Gold.
No- Not THAT kinda gold.
THIS kinda gold.
Yes- I wear vinyl gloves when I
paint. They come in handy if
So, after painting, I used a foam
brush and hit just the raised
decorations on the frame.
Oh-I am LIKING this!
It will be perfect.
Well.....if a little is good...
more might be better, right?
FAIL!
UGLY.....Sigh....
Repaint white!
Dry brush with the gold again...
Yep..same picture-HA
And...Quick little spray
with a sealer
(To: MyHero-I did NOT
spray it inside in the basement)
liar, liar, pants on fire
where was I
Oh- She's done...
with a sealer
(To: MyHero-I did NOT
spray it inside in the basement)
Oh- She's done...
And in place.
Perfect under the light fixture
I have in there with it's
antique shades.
Guess what else is in
that little bathroom?
Lord love a duck.
UNTIL THIS VERY MINUTE
I NEVER NOTICED
that this
piece of stained glass
that I have carted around
for about
a hundred years
and finally had built into
the wall between
bathroom and laundry room
looks like it has a
FACE IN THE CENTER
of it.
Do you see it?
I may never use this
bathroom again!
Okay- I gotta go
stare at my freaky
stained glass window
and wonder why I never
saw THAT FACE before.
And it is NOT because
I am blond...just sayin'
Great transformation on that wreath. Your stained glass window is gorgeous...leafy face and all!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Diana! It looks so good. I too love that stained glass. TGIF, my friend. xo
ReplyDeleteLOL...a smile first thing in the morning you gave me. I see the face too. Pretty mirror when all was said and done. Happy weekend to you.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll suppose you never saw that tongue sticking out at you, either....
ReplyDeleteLove the frame, I have several, but none like that one. I have one that has been a little overdone, with what looks like a watercolor painting in it. Got it at a yard sale, and figure it is a 'fake' but don't really care.
well at least the face is smiling!!
ReplyDeleteThe mirror is beautiful, beautiful job!!!!
Love the frame, looks super and I still like the stained glass. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteFrom one blond to another...it looks like the beast in Beauty and the Beast. But he's a good guy so this is good news! Have fun...don't mark out your words so much! heeheehee!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are back to posting. Reading your blog always makes me smile and laugh. Hugs...
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to see a face in the stained glass... does it kinda look like it is sticking it's tongue out at you?... I know... I must be strange... all you ladies do so much painting and such... your mirror looks pretty, wish you would have shown more of it after you finished it... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteOooh, I just saw Jettie saw a tongue too... hey, I'm okay now... xoxo Moi
ReplyDeleteDiana, Your mirror turned out so nice. I like the stained glass. You need to show us more of your house. I do not remember ever seeing that light. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteyes, it does look like the Beast! ha!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous transformation Diana! Did you say you got two of these mirrors? Lucky you! You need to show us more of your projects, more often, I think! And I didn't see any fact til I looked again...hmmm, kinda looks like a scary lion. Like the lion in the Wizard of Oz, but a spooky one!!!
ReplyDeleteIt does kind of look like a face. When my in-laws built a stained glass window into their cottage bathroom, my father-in-law said it made going to the bathroom a religious experience. We have stained glass in one of our bathrooms too. But no faces.
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny! I love the mirror- awesome transformation! The stained glass is stunning even if it does have a face! In the south we call it a"hant"! You know that's why we paint our porch ceiling blue; to keep the hants away!
ReplyDeleteAfter I quit laughing my head off..I looked at the frame again and really, really love it! You did a beautiful job!

The great thing about that kind of paint treatment is that mistakes are always fixable with a little more paint. Looks great and love, love that light! Someone peering at me in the loo, don't love so much. ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteOh..well, yes, it's a face alright!
ReplyDelete:) Not a very pretty one at that. The problem as I see it is that you will ALWAYS see that face now that you have discovered it.
Diana, dear, whatcha gonna do about it? :)
And no, it's NOT because you are blond! (is it?) :)
Hugs,
Mona
You did a great job on your mirror. I meant to tell you that and then got caught up in the stained glass thing.
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous! I love the look of gold leaf.
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it, I see a face in your stained glass too lol!
You have a great sense of style - and humor! Enjoyed your post.
ReplyDeleteI think that face is watching you! Oh, the stories she could tell if she could only talk!
ReplyDeleteAnd it looks like the mirror turned out beautiful!
Diana, You are back(your jokes)! I love your sense of humor-you just crack me up girl!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the redone frame-so very cool. I'm not sure I saw a face in your stained glass but I do think it is pretty. Have a wonderful weekend.
Love, Noreen
Yikes :) The finish on your mirror is perfect! Love the metallic accents!
ReplyDeleteblessings,
karianne
Love the mirror with the repaint. Just a little gold goes a long way.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have seen a face if you didn't bring it up. Still, it is beautiful and yes you will use the bathroom or you will wet your pants trying to go to another bathroom.
Great job, Diana! That stained glass is gorgeous. I love the colours in it! I do see something that could pass for a face but I really had to search for it.
ReplyDeleteYou are the painting guru. I am amazed at all your projects. I still haven't painted my 2nd bedroom. I had all this energy painted one bed room. Spackeled getting the other room ready and there it sits. I did get the sander out - this might be a great weekend for it since we are getting snow.
ReplyDeleteTry try and try again. Or whatever that saying is. You have more patience than I do with painting. Wonder if the grandkids have noticed the evil face staring at them?
ReplyDeletethe stainglass face would totally scare more than just the pee outof me...especially in the dark! nice job on the mirror
ReplyDeleteDiana,
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with the frame, and I think I like it with a bit of gold. Yes, I do see the face in the glass window, but sometimes that's what makes the items so unique. I think it's wonderful. Have a great weekend.
~Sheri at Red Rose Alley
Diana, well, all I can say is that you must have been sitting in the bathroom a very long time!! I think the frame must have come out beautifully, could we see more of it please?..Happy Weekend..Judy
ReplyDeleteThat mirror transformation is great-and what your hero doesn't know can't hurt him right? Don't tell him I said that...
ReplyDeleteOkay, now I is a little a'feared
of that mirror-I would have to keep my eyes closed-pretty but
spooky.
The mirror looks beautiful! I think you've got it just right now.
ReplyDeleteYour stained glass window is gorgeous! I can certainly see why you've been toting it around for a hundred years or so.
I am SO glad you are back. I mean, I always get a good laugh. The face in that stained glass is priceless :-) The mirror looks fab! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Diana,
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love your mirror, of course I'm a mirror freak!!! Just can't seem to get enough of them and they always have to be painted.
I see that face in the stained glass and it reminds me of a cartoon character...lol!
hugs
Sissie
The frame turned out really sweet. I am so glad you are back and I did pray for Tete. Arney is out front trying to get up all the leaves that have fallen. We have 100 foot trees. He is trying to get them up before the rain/snow comes. Have a great weekend, your Mary
ReplyDeleteThe mirror redo turned out beautifully! Your stained glass looks beautiful, too...face and all!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Janet
Great work with that mirror! Love the stained glass, too. A face? Never can tell when someone is watching!:)
ReplyDeleteLove the frame Diana. I have to really squint hard to see the face. I think it's a pretty window.
ReplyDeletexo
Danielle
The mirror looks awesome Diana and you are crackin' (get it...mirror...crack..) me up as always! :-)
ReplyDeleteVanessa
It took me a while to see it!
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit scarey. It reminds me of that octopus pirate in 'Pirates of the Caribean'.
Love your mirror frame.
Yes, I see the face and then when I look again I see a frog. Oh what the imagination can do. lol! Great job on the restorations. Sure glad Mr. Hero didn't have to have exam. You may have found gold in other places. Oh now, that's bad! Really bad!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
Yeppers! Done the little bit more and had to start all over again. Two paws up for you though...you did do it again. Me? Well I was so disgusted that I had to walk away for a day lest I hurt something ;) And as for the face on the stained glass....well for the longest time the design on the ceiling fan paddles was a long eared dog. Now tell me that didn't spook the cats. Well not Romeo of course hehehehe
ReplyDeleteyeah, right he HATES the movement of the ceiling fan. Dog face or no dog face.
Hope you are having a grand day!
Hugs,
"Her" and Romeo
Oh, I think you did a marvelous job on that piece..even if it took you a couple times to get it perfect! ha..ha! Love the stained glass..even though there is. "Face" in the middle of it...lol
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Gert
That face is definitely sticking it's tongue out at you!
ReplyDeleteLove your mirror...think you were right to paint over the 'too much'.
It's beautiful!
xo, T.
The mirror looks great! I really like the gold and white.
ReplyDeleteAnd that face~you just have to make it look friendly in your mind. Because once you see a face in something, you can't unsee it.
LOVE the mirror Diana, I'll have to remember to bring my biggest pocketbook when I come visit (ha)!
ReplyDeleteI do see the face, reminds me a bit of the Beast from Beauty and the Beast, so that can be a good thing!
Great job on the frame, Diana, and I just love that window. I never would have noticed the face if you hadn't pointed it out. It's a beautiful window. Continue to enjoy it.
