When they tested my son
at age 4 to see if he
was gifted
they asked him how
many eggs in a dozen.
He said 12 but
went on to say that you
could buy them in a box
of EIGHTEEN so that
was 6 more than a dozen.
(He was used to riding along
in the cart as I shopped for
our family of six-make that 7-
my mother was living with us then).
He also said half of 8 was
three.
I liketa died.
Guess what?
Gifted kids visually divide
numbers in half..
so eight (to most gifted kids)
is either 3 or 0.....who knew?

When I was a little girl, probably around 4 or 5, I was really into glamour and make-up and told my mother I wanted to be a swimsuit bunny for Halloween. Of course, I didn't know what it was, and of course, my mother said no. I was inspired by Wilma Flintstone b/c she and Betty had donned bunny outfits in a beauty contest where Fred and Barney were judges. Tee hee! I am not so into style anymore. In fact, you'll find me all summer long without any make-up on at all. Excited for your giveaway, congratulations on reaching 500!!! Wow! It'll take me another year to even think about that fare ahead.

ReplyDeleteLoved the story about dividing the 8. Our daughter asked us, just to be sure she had the correct answer, how far it was from one coast to the other on the day she had her gifted test. She was very relieved when she heard she had correctly chosen the answer.:)

Two funny things - I was going to guess "P" for prize, Duh. Also, on a football blog I read, one of the fans was laughing at being called a "loon" by another commenter. Then you used that same word today. hehehe

With the heat of the summer, you might want to reconsider wearing the stapless bunny costume. Much cooler, and it frees you up for all that vacuuming and dusting.

I wasn't a gifted kid and I guess not a gifted adult either. I had to really think about the 1/2 of 8 thing. So it's either a 3 and a backwards 3 or two zero's stacked on top of each other. That took me about 20 minutes to figure out??

Good gravy girl! You are so loved! My father was Edward or Ed and I so love the name! I wrote an Alphabe Thursday post about Edward once. One gal said she nearly did not stop by thinking it was the Vampire guy! There is a gal at Face Book who has a daughter who has a cat named Bacon and just got a new kitten called Eggs! HaHa! That Eggs is great! Love all your thoughts!
