So...WHAT are WE
doing at this family reunion?
Well....it's a long story...
but...
every year we are invited to
the R family reunion.
It is held on the
Grandmama R's farm.
You would not believe
the work that she has done
to this place.
Can you believe that
this is a corn crib?
It is a special hideaway
for the kids in the family...
and some of us adults
that love
Magical Places.
Can you see the trumpet
vine that covers it?
And, just past the corn crib
is this gorgeous area that
has been cleared and beautified.
More? You want to see more?
Magical, isn't it?
What? You want to see more yet?
Okay- ONE MORE PICTURE-
Grandmama R's hubby passed
away a little while ago.
She found a whole new
creative outlet and
painted a picture for
each child, and grandchild,
in her family.
They drew numbers and
each got to pick one
to take home with them.
Here she is holding court
surrounded by all her wonderful
pictures.
I won't tell you how old she is
but let's just say she won't see
the North side of 80 again.
Isn't she cute?
She is SOOO full of life
and has such a positive outlook
on everything.
She brightens the life of
everyone around her.
We talked and ate too much.
We said a prayer again for
Jessica as she goes through
her grueling chemo treatments.
Please remember to keep
her in your prayers.
You can read her story here.
Isn't she a beautiful, brave girl?
Now...you wonder how we get invited
to this special reunion every year?
Well, we are connected.
How, you ask?
Well, this is MyHeros
"other wife", Mikey-baby.
His movie and dinner date.
He is the son-in-law
of Grandmama R.
Aren't THEY special?
I wish he could talk
Mikey-baby into coming over
and cooking and cleaning.
*sigh*
I think I am stuck with the
real wife's jobs
while Mikey-baby has all the fun!
LOL on Mikey-baby and the real wife getting all the chores - ain't it always the way? Love the reunion surroundings. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeletebeautiful post, remarkable lady for sure, family reunions are one of the best parts of summer!
ReplyDeleteSomebody has to do the chores and it usually comes down to the wife!!
Diana, g.ma's place is so sweet. Your hero and his pal wife look pretty happy :):)I know what you are saying about getting all the house work and others get all the fun part :(:( That's what I say about Ted Bear's golf pals..shhh. Smiles, Susie
ReplyDeleteI love her art, and what a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteHa, Mikey and the 'hero' are quite a pair.
What a cute picture of your hubby and his other wife. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the garden! And I hope you had a good time. Family reunions are normally something we ty to avoid.
ReplyDeleteSo many places I could go with the "other wife" scenario, but I'll keep it clean and respectful of your husband's occupation. Grandmama R really did paint a lot of pictures, didn't she. Glad she's found a new passion.
ReplyDeleteWOW..remarkable on all counts Diana. What a beautiful magical place. I can't believe all those paintings.
ReplyDeleteUnbelieveable! I have a children's book that Grandma R needs. It's called Emma (written by Barbara Cooney) and it's about a woman who starts painting in her late 70s. It's based on Emma Stern's paintings. It's one of our favorite books.
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical place! Grandmama R sounds like one heck of a lady!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place. I think it would only be fair for Mikey-baby to share in the workload :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Diana! Everything and everyone!
ReplyDeleteHi Diana,
ReplyDeleteI'm always coming over here to visit, so I don't know why I haven't followed you sooner! You have a wonderful blog!
I'm so happy that Grandma R found a creative outlet after her husband passed. Her grandchildren are so fortunate to have her special gift!
ReplyDeletelucky you....your picture are fun to look at.
ReplyDeleteWe have a family reunion on "my side" on July 4th and my"husbands side" in Aug...so fun..especially for the kids. BTW, you are prettier than the other wife.
That place is magical! What summer fun. I can't believe Grandmama R painted all those paintings, framed them and is giving them away. What a FABULOUS idea and what a wonderful Gma! I'm going to keep that in mind when my kids get old enough that I like them again! Prayers for your Jessica. Cancer sucks but you're right, she is beautiful and she will overcome!
ReplyDeleteEvery green lush space feels like Paradise to me... even more when there's family involved... ;) How sweet! Oh and I want to say how sorry I am about what happened to your New Dawn roses... how dare of that man do what he did to your roses...! He should get you new ones and plant them himself... Aughhh!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend dear Diana!
Cielo
I wish I had grandmama R's energy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful setting.
What a great place, Diana!!!! xo
ReplyDeleteWell....they sure look happy together! What an amazing party and a beautiful and talented lady! I always wonder...could I do that? Great photos, my friend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice family reunion, Diana. I can see why they would include YOU in their family reunion. I love the secret hideaway. When I was young, we used to build dirt forts in the fields by my house. That was our secret hideaway. A kid has to dream, doesn't she? Enjoy the weekend. I will certainly say a prayer for your friend.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
~Sheri at Red Rose Alley
