The other day
I mentioned some things
I love about summer.
You know the other
I mentioned some things
I love about summer.
You know the other
thing I love about
summer?
Ice Cream
Ice Cream
Well, I don't eat it
but my whole family
loves it.
Is there anything better
than homemade
ice cream?
First I mixed up
Orange Crush
ice cream.
Tastes like a
Dreamscicle.
6 cans of ORANGE Crush Soda
2 cans Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 heaping cup sugar
Put 2 cans of Eagle Brand Condensed Milk to a big bowl.
Stir in the sugar.
Slowly pour in one can of Orange Crush.
Combine the first can of soda with condensed milk and sugar.
Continue adding 5 more cans of Orange Crush.
Add the mix to ice cream freezer.
Crank up the ice cream maker.
Mix until the ice cream is firm.
Let sit several minutes to "ripen".
Freezes well.-Makes 3 qaurts.
I dug out the old
ice cream maker,
cranked her up.
Here is where the
I SCREAM
comes into play.
She made a few turns
and groaned and moaned.
We "helped" her run
until her motor quit.
Thankfully, the ice cream
was almost done.
Bye-Bye old girl!
At least we got this out
of you before you died.
I went to Sam's Club
and found a new friend.
Hello Baby!
You sure are a pretty thang!
Aroma (don't you love the name)
ran perfectly and
we were delighted with
this-
We really like the custard
rather than ice cream.
Ohhhh...This is sooo good!
It's too bad that
no one in this family likes
ice cream!
Oh-wait-maybe
THIS ONE does!
However,
this one
would rather have
a cupcake
at the local trough buffet.
If you don't have an
ice cream maker, or have
never made your own,
you are missing one of
life's special little joys.
Yes. You. Are.
Now you post this recipe...geez. It sounds so good. Well, I did cheat last night and DH and I split a hot fudge sundae at the pool.
ReplyDeleteMy ice cream maker died years ago and never got another one.
We all love ice cream. Yes we do. But I can't do it anymore.
Nope- but I can cheat a bit every blue moon.
I so agree, we bought a new electric one last year, worth every penny!!! Our old hand crank one finally gave out on us so we went modern for a change. We all love homemade icecream
ReplyDeleteDiana, I have never had homemade ice cream....but I absolutely love ice cream. I try to cut back, it's not easy. I do not know how you can pass it by when you are making it. :):) xo, Susie
ReplyDeleteDo you make ice cream all the time? I've never invested in an ice cream maker... maybe my kids would really like ot. Is it really messy? Not that I can't and don't handle daily messes, I'm just wondering if this one is one too many for me. Yesterday, our daughter painted the flatscreen TV.
ReplyDeleteOH, I remember my parents making homemade ice cream for us (well, they did use us for child labor in making us take turns turning the crank) in the summer! My last electric ice cream maker "died" too and I didn't replace it but I might now after your great post reminded me of how delicious and fun it is to make at home. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, nothing beats homemade ice cream.
ReplyDeletewhen I was a kid, we had ice cream parties, everyone brought their ice cream makers, and made their favorite ice cream. You brought back a memory of my childhood..Thank you, there aren't that many....
ReplyDeleteyes, we have 2 ice cream makers, one has never been used, it is clear, so you get to see the ice cream making.
Homemade ice cream...I'm screaming for it now! What a great recipe, thank you Miss Diana!
ReplyDeleteThat dreamsicle recipe sounds wonderful. I can't tell you the last time I had homemade ice cream. It must have been when my adult children were little. I'm glad you're keeping the churn turning. hehehe
ReplyDeleteI'm snitching that orange crush ice cream recipe, wow that sounds good!!
ReplyDeleteBet you will have lots of fun making ice cream with that all Summer...we will probably get lots of laughs and smiles from the stories!

Hi Di,
ReplyDeleteWhat you don't eat ice cream. You crazy girl, sounds delish.
xoxo
I'm going to have to try that orange soda ice cream! I wonder if I can reduce the recipe by half? My ice cream maker is a soft serve and doen't make but about a half gallon.
ReplyDeleteThis dreamscicle sounds like a dream! My family is a bunch of ice cream lovin' fools. I've got to give this a try.
ReplyDeleteLynn
Putting the tub in the freezer, right now! Your recipe looks yummy! My daughter will love it!
ReplyDeleteThis would NOT be a good thing for me to own. Going to the "trough" place would NOT be a good place for me to go either. This is NOT a good post for me to read.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day.
xxoo
You know I'm totally with you on the joys of homemade ice cream!
ReplyDeletenow I'm hungry! I am going to save that recipie! it sounds sooo good. Thanks for sharing it :O)
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I stood with my sister in Kohls right in front of the ice cream machines. I was so close to buying one after wanting one for so many years, but my sister talked me out of it. Of course, you would have to have this post today with that delicious looking homemade ice cream just to tease me. lol
ReplyDeleteYou scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! I had to chuckle when you mentioned the trough, no the buffet because we call our local one "the feeding trough" LOL.

What better treat than homemade ice cream! We had the store bought variety, though, when our grandchildren were visiting last week. We even took a "field trip" to a superior regional dairy not too far from here. Trying their ice cream was definitely a "given.":)
ReplyDeleteWe are ice cream crazy at our house. The grandchildren love to come here and make milkshakes and Mr. Bird Nest used to eat an ice cream sundae every night but I finally put a stop to that. I started getting him sugar free Fudgesicles to eat instead. What a meanie I am.
ReplyDeleteSounds fun. We eat frozen treats year round down here in the tropics. Our latest obsession is the self-serve yogurt places. There are 5 in my little city alone! They say they are low fat, low calorie, etc but I think that they lie. The bowls they give you are family sized so you put more in than you need. They have a zillion delicious self-serve toppings and then you pay by the ounce.
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, my boys loooove it!
Sounds delicious!! Nothing like homemade! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteblessings,
Jill
JUST CHECKING TO SEE IF i CAN POST.
ReplyDeleteDiana
ReplyDeleteYou are so...right-there is nothing like the real thing baby!!!
I'm drooling right now. I haven't had homemade, cranked ice cream in years!
Nothing is tastier than homemade icecream. It has to be the best thing mankind ever came up with.
ReplyDeleteOOO, that orange crush sounds delicious . I love anything ORANGE. Thanks for this great recipe. O, and i like cupcakes, too.:)
ReplyDeleteGee thanks for making me crave ice cream at 7:30 in the morning! This takes me back to being 10 and my dad pulling out his beloved wooden ice cream maker and making fresh peach ice cream....OMG there is nothing as good!
ReplyDeleteNothing like homemade ice cream! I think the grands would love this Orange Crush delight. Looks like cupcakes are necessary for a few in your lovely group. :-)

ReplyDeleteOh, I just LOVE homemade ice cream!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing that spells 4th of July like cranking out some creamy deliciousness! Thanks for the recipe, I'm trying this for the 4th!

Patti
Diana, nothing is as refreshing as homemade ice cream during the summer, and your Orange Dreamsicle sounds amazing! If you are ever in need of another ice cream recipe, definitely check out the coffee ice cream recipe on samsclub.com/meals. It is one of my favorites! Thanks for shopping at Sam’s Club and enjoy the rest of your summer! – Ramona from Sam’s Club
