Do you think I am talking about
A Heart Transplant?
Am I talking about transplanting
A BABY
out of its carriage?
No baby was harmed in the
planting of this old
wicker baby carriage.
(ooops- forgot to fill the birdbath)
My friend, Fern, loves
that I transplanted her to
her new home there.
Is THAT the transplant I
am talking about?
Nope!
And lest you think I am
talking about MY heart..well,
MY old ticker is fine.
I am lucky to have a good heart.
(yeah-both kinds-physically
and spiritually).
It's a good thing, too,
because.....
MyHero decided that he
no longer wants to
CUT THE GRASS.
Lucky for HIM I do like to
CUT THE GRASS.
Anyway,
I spent a couple of hours
with my boyfriend yesterday.
Shhhhh...He is the
ONLY BOYFRIEND
I am allowed to have.
What's his name?
Well, I'll tell you but
keep it a secret, m'kay?
His name is John.
John Deere
He is a honey.
I give him gas to drink
and he rewards me with
faithfulness.
Yesssir-
My kinda guy.
And he pulls a little wagon along
behind him, too.
Which comes in real handy
for
TRANSPLANTS.
So....NOW you know WHAT
I am talking about?
HOSTAS!
I transplanted these yesterday.
How many did I transplant?
I'll tell you-
Sitting down?
I transplanted
FORTY-TWO FLIPPING
HOSTAS~
I broke 4 huge ones apart
to make 42 small plants.
I transplanted some of them
along this fence.
This is taken from our garage door
looking South.
And, I transplanted a
few plants here along the front.
And....then....I transplanted some
more hostas....which I will
show you tomorrow.
When all was said and done
it was a good day.
A day to sit on
the BUTT ROCK
and think about my
next plan of action.
I know-it cracks me up, too.
Crack? Butt? Get it?
Never mind.
If I didn't visit you yesterday
I apologize and will try to
get there today.
If I didn't visit you yesterday
I apologize and will try to
get there today.
Now, if you are very, very
good and promise not
to shave the neighbor's dog,
tomorrow I will show you my
NEW ROSES!
Oh, you are insane. Butt rock and all. I love that you posted more of your outside space. I love it. Its about time your got off your rock and got some gardening done.
ReplyDeleteI want that baby carriage. I think you're crazy for putting it outside in the weather. You know how much that thing is worth???
Steve has to work this morning, so we are going to take it easy until he gets home. Much to do to get ready for deck time.
I only took one pill yesterday and my BS is fine this morning. Maybe I CAN get off of these things one of these days!
I just love a good Hosta they take great care of themselves. Low maintains I love that and they are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful home Diana and its because you took the time to plant 42 Hostas that it looks so loved. The fern in the carriage so sweet ..:) have a great weekend ..xo
ReplyDeleteDiana, I just broke up a big blue hosta and planted it around one of our tulip trees. You made 42..wow. Lots of digging. Your home looks very pretty with your flowerbeds.Smiles, xo,Susie
ReplyDeleteyou crack me up, diana! happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour spirited posts are a lovely way to start my morning. You certainly had a lot of energy yesterday! I'm impressed. Once my foot is healed and I can wear regular shoes, I'll be pushing a mower at our house. I secretly love to mow the grass. I think it's because I drown out the noise from my girls for a solid 45 minutes. Shhhh...our secret.
ReplyDeletePS. My husband left the house at 6am to go to a special plant sale. There will be a whole lot of transplanting going on after Emma's slumber party.
Your house looks lovely!.. love that porch area and the carriage with ferns! Great stuff you are doing there...
ReplyDeleteJust thought I would "butt" in and tell you haw pretty your yard is looking! Have a great weekend!

Whooops! TYPO! How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhew! But just look at all the free plants you got, Diana! I used to dread splitting hostas and, thankfully, I didn't have to do it often. I was happy enough afterwards when I found they helped fill in some blank spots around the yard. Love the carriage with the fern in it. Watch out ~ my hubby hated doing the lawn, too, and we wound up downsizing to a condo!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning! You are so funny! I have transplanted monkey grass before and I can testify it ain't no easy job! LOL! I feel for you, 42 is quite a bit of work. Rest up today and enjoy all your hard work! The front on your house is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh Diana, you are so cute!... I love your darling sense of humor... you and I would get into soooo much trouble together!... we had a little John Deere when we had our farm and I loved it... so helpful with all my gardens out there... can't wait to see your roses... your home is just stunning, what a beautiful place for Fern to live... just loved this post!... "Hosta la Vista, baby!"... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeletePS I did not shave the neighbors dog... I put her hair up in a French twist... (she's a French poodle, non?...)...
ReplyDeleteMan, you have been working your butt off! I love the John Deere boyfriend!!!
ReplyDeleteMan, you have been working your butt off! I love the John Deere boyfriend!!!
ReplyDeleteYour Fern looks darling in the baby carriage! And you planted 42 hostas AND cut the grass? You are a real Outdoors Woman! Having a boyfriend like John does help!
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday!
XO,
Jane
My garden is like another child to me so I totally getcha on this one!! Have a great weekend my friend.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, this post put a huge smile on my face. Wow, you sure are ambitious and a big thanks to your boyfriend John for making things easier.
ReplyDeleteI need to get off my rock and do some planting!
I'm your newest happy follower:-)
42 plantings.. wow- you are my new Hero. no way my back would hold up that long lol..
ReplyDeleteits looking great but do rest some today.. love your home- so pretty.
Super looking tractor. Your home is a beauty but that is because you take care of it and blog. How do you manage? You brighten my day.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! There was a lot of transplants going on at your house Diana! What a beautiful home, I don't like I ever saw pics of the outside before. Your grounds are beautiful and the hostas are going to look amazing along the fence line! Would love to see more of your pretty gardens!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit envious of you! Your boyfriend is pretty sweet! Mine has to be pushed around and pushing him is quite a job!
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful Diana!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a lot of hosta transplanting to do!
Love the carriage too.
off to your neck of the woods today for my nieces grad party.
We need to meet up sometime!
Hugs,
Cindy
Hi Diana! I've been gone so long from everyone blogs!
ReplyDeleteI love that baby carriage and have always wanted one. Still do. Do you know how crazy expensive they are??? Cost a fortune here.
I love your home so beautiful. I want to see more!
Pamela xo
Good morning my dear friend..girl you are too funny..I have an old John Deere and I say he "Drinks,Smokes, and runs around" I call him my John boy..Hope you have a GREAT weekend girl..Hugs and smiles Gloria
ReplyDeleteLove the old wicker pram. I have learnt a lot from you today... I didn't know that you could split hostas...I wonder if mine would look better if I did that? Secondly...if you split them I didn't know that you could do it when they are growing their leaves. So ...thanks for that my friend! Joan
ReplyDeletewow, those must have been some gigantic hostas to get so many transplants from them! Don't you just love free plants? Imagine how much you would have had to pay to buy over 40 hostas...
ReplyDeleteI love the baby carriage with the fern...cute, cute, cute.
oh my goodness! You are crazy. That is a lot of transplanting. I love hostas. Mine are getting a little large, might have to follow in your footsteps. We have 2 1/2 acres of rolling hills. Glad Bama Boy hasn't given up on mowing or we'd be living in a jungle..cause I am too scared to use the big mower. I'll use a compound miter saw..no problem..riding lawn mower on hills..nope. ;)
ReplyDeleteHeather
Hi Di,
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen a pic of your home, soooo pretty. Love the buggy, your so cute! Have a wonderful weekend with John!
xoxo
Again my Dear, you crack me up. LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd my goodness...42???? Wow! That would kill me lol
I love mowing the lawn. And would even more with a riding mower.
Your yard looks wonderful.
I hope you get to have some time to relax over the weekend too.
Take care, Janet W
What's with men complaining about cutting grass with a ride on? It's like taking a Sunday drive without the traffic. Your yard looks lovely! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteMy, my Diana! You have been busy!
ReplyDeleteI'm not touching the neighbor's dog!:)
Only you could find that terrific carriage to put a fern in. As for the hostas, I have a huge row of Iris that need to be divided and transplated. What are you doing next weekend? You have just won a free trip to South Carolina? The pool should even be open by then.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Gretchen
Holy Cow girl....that is a lot of Hostas! I love them and am so sorry that I can't have them here in AZ....I can't believe you are doing all that yard work....I would get a New New boyfriend....a Yard boy!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! 42! That is a lot of dividing going on! Your home and yard are beautiful! I was sassy and bought another bunch of annuals. Don't know what got into me. lol. I seem to find so many that I like this year. I don't think that I used so many annuals in the past. Must be craving instant color.
ReplyDeleteI would just love to have a yard big enough to have a tractor. Ours is smaller than your driveway, so not much mowing going on. Your yard looks amazing. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteMy friend you make me laugh all the time-thank you. Oh how I love your garden and I think your boyfriend is pretty darn handsome! Wish we had one, it would be easier on my hubby. Looks like your weather is really nice, while ours is cold and rainy today. I love the front of your house-do you have posts that give a home tour? I'd love to see your nest.
ReplyDeleteWhen I took my honey to the airport I told him I was only going to buy a birdbath and some six packs of plants but you're making me want to get out and work in the yard. Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs, Noreen
Very enjoyable post, Diana. Your home/yard is delightful. I love hostas and ferns. The old baby carriage is cute as can be! Blessings to you this weekend.
ReplyDeletewell I started a new blog, I have called it when the bough broke! I hope you will find me,
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, Diana! That's a lotta-hosta! LOL...No wonder you needed to sit down! They will be beautiful along your fence, and will soon be all lovely and round just like their Mama hosta! (Or they will be by next year, anyway!)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I have my Mom's little carriage, almost like yours! I need to give it a face-lift ~ It has been painted many times, so I guess once more won't hurt...(it is by the Lloyd Loom company, and was purchased in the early 30's)...
I won't tell about John, okay? :)
Hugs,
Anne
Thanks for a good laugh after I am trying to get a second wind:) Love hostas and your fern in the baby carriage is too cute!! Have a great weekend.....
ReplyDeleteAfter all of your hard work, it might make you feel a little better to know a small Hosta bought at a Nursery costs 7.99 each. I think that entitles you to lots of Starbucks!
ReplyDeleteI noticed the sweet bike in the background of one of your photos :) Everything looks beautiful!
That is where I am .. in the garden, planting, planting & more planting. I still have to find more roses ... I think I lost a couple this winter, ugh!
ReplyDeleteLove your yard, Diana.
TTFN ~
Have a great eve ~
Hugs,
Marydon
Hi Diana, I love your garden and I know you will give me a smile when I read your post regardless of what you are writing about. I like your sense of humor and I enjoy the post about your grandchildren so much. I like your boyfriend he helps you so much and I won't tell your secret. Have a great week. Hugs from Your Missouri friend.
ReplyDeleteYou always make me smile! I love the fern in the old baby carriage! Looks great. Hope you're having a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Oh my gosh, Girl,
ReplyDeleteYou make me laugh so hard, I usually have to get to the bathroom half way through your post!
Love, love, love your porch with the baby carriage and birdbath! Fern looks right at home in her buggy!
And, how many hostas? Are you crazy lady? No, no, never mind, we'll answer that one for you! he he he! My gosh, do you have a very shady yard? I thought hostas need all shade? I love them, but not enough shade anywhere here! :( Your yard looks fantastic, Diana!
Have a lovely Sunday, my friend!
Hugs,
Donna
I have a confession - I have never, in my entire life, cut grass. What a woman you are! Your yard looks beautiful and I'll be waiting to see your roses, when you get up off your "butt rock"! LOL!! Too funny!
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, just as I was thinking that your butt rock had a crack you beat me to it. Darn, you're too quick for me girly. I love hostas! Wow, your plants must've been hughe to get 42. I use to always mow the lawn. Now that I have a bum leg (torn Meniscus) hubby is doing it. I can still whack a weed though. John Deere is one John that you will never want to write a Dear John letter to. We are on the same page girl. I took pics of my new rose garden to blog about tomorrow. I'll show you mine if you show me yours. lol!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
It is all looking fantastic, Diana. Fern has a great home. Your hostas are looking in better shape than mine!!
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful, and I wish I had a John Deere as my boyfriend too! Silly girl...XoXo
ReplyDeleteEveryone should have a John Deer just once! TEE HEE
ReplyDeleteAhhh...I love to watch other gardeners and wish I had a green thumb and the energy to work in the yard. Ours needs some serious therapy!
ReplyDeleteHugs, GraceinAZ
