My daughter and her hubby
belong to a Lutheran church
in the Milwaukee area.
That is where they had our
dear little
CharlesInCharge
baptized.
He wore the same gown
that his mother wore
(see yesterday's post).
Here he is getting
stuffed into the onesie.
MamasBoy is his Godfather
and was willing to be the
holder while my daughter
was the stuffer.
He looks none the worse for wear.
Here he is with BigBoyE,
Mama Mimi & Daddy BigJ.
WE think they are a pretty family.
Here is Auntie TPot & Uncle MamasBoy..
Godmother & Godfather.
CharlesInCharge is already
directing.
I think his exact words were
"Let's get this show on the road".
Did you KNOW that I am a
master at decoding baby babble?
Well, I am!
We sat through a wonderful service.
Some of us entertained ourselves
as best we knew how.
Then came time for the
actual ceremony.
This banner was on the altar.
Family members gathered
on the altar with the pastor.
A few words of commitment,
A symbolic washing of the baby's head..
A lighting of a candle...
At home-he sits with the gown
spread around him...much too hot
for the coat.
And this little baby has been baptized.
Can you see the
Joy of the Lord
in him?
What a blessed event.
spread around him...much too hot
for the coat.
And this little baby has been baptized.
Can you see the
Joy of the Lord
in him?
What a blessed event.
We are so fortunate.
He is so loved.
He is God's child.
Amen.
that is just beautiful, such a wonderful family,

Diana, the dress is spectacular! And, yes, I can see the Joy of the Lord in that little boy. On that third photo, he reminds one of a royal giving a light wave to the crowd on one of those castle balconies.
ReplyDeleteHe looks beautiful in his christening gown! This is such a wonderful occasion. Thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteThat last picture is just precious. Beautiful family you have. I do see the JOY.
ReplyDeleteHe is cute as a button and he didn't even cry. In fact, he looked happy to be baptized. The gown is even more beautiful when you see it on him. What an heirloom!

Must be cool being the proud grandma. Wonderful photos of the event and your kids are all so cute. What a great day for all of you. I had no idea that Lutherans baptized babies like Catholics. My best friend in HS was Lutheran and when I spent the night there, we went to her church on Sunday morning and when she stayed with me, she went to mine. But I never saw a baptism there.
ReplyDeleteLearn something new every day.
Who made the banner? I like that.
In the baptist church that I went to when Doug was born didn't do the baptism. We had a dedication ceremony. We stood before the church and God and promised to raise him knowing God and following Him in all things. We baptize when you are saved.
SO- come see our new neighbor! Not as cute as Charles, but close. LOL
Have a great day, GF.
Gorgeous child. Now where do you come up with all those nick names?
